Red Sox ace Garrett Crochet was selected to his second straight All-Star Game ea
rlier this week, though he has decided not to pitch in the game. He’s hopeful h
e’ll get another chance to pitch on a global stage next spring.

Crochet is interested in pitching for Team USA in the World Baseball Classic in
March, he said Friday, though he has not had any talks with the team’s manager,
 Mark DeRosa.

“I haven’t heard anything,” Crochet said. “I don’t know how it works or whe
n people reach out. Obviously, it would be a huge honor. I’d hope the organizat
ion would view it as an honor as well. If I was asked, I’d definitely enjoy par
ticipating and I’d love to participate. But right now, my focus is on continuin
g to build on the season I’ve had.”
