Ha-Seong Kim streaking, price rising?

With each week Kim has spent with the Braves, it’s seemed more likely he’ll de
cline a $16 million player option for 2026.

In playing every day for the Braves, and playing well, Kim’s appeared fully rec
overed from shoulder surgery that ended his 2024 season with San Diego and back
issues that sidelined him for much of this season with Tampa Bay.

Kim had a home run and a sacrifice fly Sunday, his second homer in the series an

When healthy like he is now, Kim should be able to command a multiyear deal with
 an average annual value in excess of $16 million, even if Scott Boras wasn’t h
is agent. But Boras is his agent. No one gets bigger contracts for clients on a
regular basis.

It seems a good bet he would seek a deal with an AAV well above $20 million, esp
ecially with five other teams having a shortstop need next season.

Kim was a 5.0 and 5.4 bWAR player with San Diego in 2022 and 2023, and would’ve
 been close to that in 2024 before his season was shortened to 121 games by the
shoulder injury. He won a Gold Glove as a utility infielder in 2023 and received
 MVP votes after posting a .351 OBP, 17 homers and a .749 OPS.

Kim struggled with a .214 average and .612 OPS in just 24 games for Tampa Bay, b
ut has returned to form with Atlanta. He had a 123 OPS+ with the Braves before S
unday, when his fourth-inning homer extended his hitting streak to nine games.

There’s always a chance that Kim, who’ll be 30 next month, could command a sig

 he might get if he opts for free agency this winter. But there’s risk in that,
 and perhaps not as many teams with a shortstop need a year from now.

當然金河成下個月就滿30歲了，他也許可以選擇執行PO、再打完2026年完整賽季後再尋求一
份更高額的長約，但這樣的選擇風險較高，且一年後可能需求游擊手的球隊會變少


The Braves’ best hope of having him in 2026 might be to offer a multiyear deal
before he decides about his option. An offer in the three-year, $65 million rang
e would presumably be a minimum starting point — or they could offer a one-year
 deal with a significantly higher salary than the option price, to entice him to
 stay with the Braves and boost his free-agent price in a year.

若勇士希望2026年也能留住他，也許可以在他做出決定之前提出一份複數年延長合約，三年
6500萬美元的報價可能是個合理的起點，另一個選擇是提供一份一年高薪的短約，金額高於
球員選項的16M，吸引他留下並增加2026年成為自由球員時的身價


What the Braves have in their favor is the fact that Kim has fit seamlessly in t
heir clubhouse. Having close friend and former Padres teammate Jurickson Profar
at the locker adjacent to his has helped him assimilate quickly.

But make no mistake, Boras will have a good idea how much his client is worth on
 the market, and if the Braves don’t make a competitive offer, then he’s not l
ikely to stay. That is, unless doing so could help him secure a monster contract
 as a free agent after 2026.

但別搞錯了，Boras肯定清楚他的客戶在市場上的真正價值，如果勇士不提出有競爭力的報
價，那他留下的機率就不高——除非這樣做對他日後爭取合約更有幫助
