DETROIT -- At one point in the fourth quarter, with the game well in hand and th
e Cleveland Cavaliers headed for a seventh straight win, coach J.B. Bickerstaff
had a conversation with Kevin Love.

在第四節的某一時刻，在比賽遙遙領先、克里夫蘭騎士隊即將取得七連勝之際，總教練Bick
erstaff與Love進行了一次交談。

The 14-year veteran -- who teammates affectionately call “Grandpa Kev,” with g
ray hairs that have overtaken what used to be a perfectly coiffed black mane --
was two rebounds away from a triple-double. Love knew it. Bickerstaff knew it. O
ther players and coaches did too. There were even some fans inside Little Caesar
s Arena, clad in wine and gold, that were aware, playfully cursing at Cedi Osman
 for taking at least one board away from Love.



It would’ve been Love’s fourth career triple-double and first since 2014. More
 than 3,000 days. Another potential sweetener to his Hall of Fame resume. And ye
t, on a night he had every reason to, Love didn’t go stat-padding. When Bickers
taff asked him if he wanted to re-enter, Love shook his head, allowing other lit
tle-used guys to soak up some rare late-game playing time in a blowout.



“Kevin being Kevin, and what he’s been willing to sacrifice, he told me to do
what’s right by the game,” Bickerstaff said. “It was right by the game to lea
ve him over there on the bench and let the other guys play. It just shows he’s
not here for the numbers. He’s here to help us win basketball games.”



“We have a rare level of togetherness,” Love told cleveland.com. “No team is
more together than we are. We thrive off that and that’s become part of our ide
ntity and part of our culture. I don’t feel like anybody in this locker room is
 up in arms about the next guy getting minutes, getting more shots, getting this
 or getting that. We all work to earn what we get and what we have. There’s a l
ot of love and respect in this room. A sense of professionalism here as well.”
