PORTLAND, Ore. (KPTV) — Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard launched a new
scholarship program this year, offering students from nine Bay Area high
schools the opportunity to receive $25,000 annually to attend Portland State
University.
小李今年啟動了一個新的獎學金計畫，幫助九個灣區高中學生就讀波特蘭州大，每年可
以拿到2萬5000鎂。

The first Damian Lillard Scholar enrolled at Portland State this fall. Kayla
Sisavat, from Lillard’s hometown of Oakland, California, is the inaugural
recipient of the scholarship that covers nearly all expenses for a four-year
college education.
首位拿到小李獎學金進入波特蘭州大的是來自小李故鄉Oakland的Kayla Sisavat，獎
學金會負擔她四年的幾乎所有費用。

Sisavat lost her father to cancer as a toddler and was raised by a single
mother. She experienced personal trauma growing up in Oakland.
Sisavat小時候她爸爸就因為癌症過世，由單親媽撫養長大，她的成長過程經歷過許多創
傷。她說：

“I went through a lot of personal trauma,” Sisavat said. “It was just hard
always constantly worrying is my mom going to make it home, is my sister
safe. It just takes a toll on you.”
「我經歷過許多個人創傷，總是在擔心媽媽回不回的了家，妹妹是否安全，那真的會讓
人身心俱疲。」

During her early high school years, anxiety and depression affected her
academic performance. Seeing how her depression impacted her mother motivated
her to make changes.
在她高中初期，焦慮以及憂鬱影響她的學業表現；看到她的憂鬱影響了她的母親，讓她
有了動機要做出改變。她說：

“It gave me that ambition and drive to succeed in school and to push myself
whether I wanted to give up or not,” she said.
「這給了不管我是不是要放棄，我得要在學業上有成就的動機，以及驅使我繼續向前。」

Lillard visited the Bay Area during All-Star Weekend and stopped by his alma
mater, Oakland High School, to announce the scholarship program. The
initiative offers students from nine East Bay high schools $25,000 annual
scholarships to attend Portland State University.
小李在去年全明星賽周末訪問了灣區，並在他的母校奧克蘭高中停留，宣布了他的獎學金
計畫。獎學金會給來自東灣區高中生每年2萬5000鎂，就讀波特蘭州大。小李說：

“I wanted to do something really impactful, you know, not just attach my
name to something,” Lillard said. “I want to help a lot of the kids from my
area that really want to do more for themselves they just don’t have the
resources or support to do it.”
「我想要做些真的有影響力的事情，不是就是把我的名字列在某個東西上。我想要幫助很
多來自我家鄉的小朋友，那些很想為自己做很多事但是卻沒有資源可以幫助他們的小朋
友。」
