台灣中部渦漩

這是全球模式分析場，在一些學者的局部環流觀測分析中也描述過，在東北季風環境，台灣中部常會有一個"很微弱"的渦旋。

這張圖的底色是風速，現在台灣近地面的風速都不強，整個中南部都在一個弱風區中。在這個弱風區裡面，中部有一個閉合的環流，這個環流會將中部沿海的污染空氣捲入南投縣境內，而且很不容易消散。

今天有明顯的東北風越過北部陸地，這股東北風相對乾淨。部分乾淨的東北風捲入中部渦旋中，也稀釋了中部的空氣汙染，但是南部弱風區的風速很弱，稀釋作用相對緩慢。

衛星看沙塵暴

這是局網提供的真實色彩衛星影像，相對於傳統可見光影像，最大的優勢應該是可以用來監測沙塵暴和塵霾。
在這種影像中，沙塵暴顯現的是棕色的影像，特徵是移動快速。霾則比較偏灰色，但是兩者有時很類似，必須比對地面觀測報告才能確認。雲或霧區則相對白皙，比較不會認錯。

沙塵暴發生的原因是"強風"

這次大陸沙塵暴，起因是貝加爾湖附近有低氣壓系統發展，遇到由中亞越過帕米爾高原經新疆而來的的冷高壓，造成河西走廊上氣壓梯度升高引發強風，吹起沙塵暴。現在強風區略為減弱北移，預期沙塵暴很快會緩和下來。

絕地求生，吃雞的來源！

「吃雞」一詞幾乎已成為網路遊戲「絕地求生」的代名詞。

「絕地求生」是一款多人線上網路遊戲，每場遊戲至多有 100 名玩家參與，每局開始所有玩家都是身著一條內褲、然後搭機跳傘至孤島上，著陸後開始尋找裝備：衣服、背包、武器、車輛⋯⋯等等。接著，開始射擊其他玩家，想辦法求生，最終只會有一名玩家存活下來。

最後獲勝者的畫面會出現“ Winner, Winner, Eating Chicken.”，直白的中文翻譯就是「大吉大利，晚上吃雞。」

隨著遊戲的火紅，「吃雞」便成為玩家間溝通的默契。

透過 AotterTrek 數據分析平台，我們發現使用「吃雞」的文章出現頻率遠高於「絕地求生」或「PUBG」（該遊戲英文名稱：PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds），不論是想要搜尋、或是尋求其他玩家協助，使用「吃雞」所帶來的討論會更容易引起玩家們的共鳴。

故事的起源要從美國拉斯維加斯的賭場說起，幾十年前，每個賭場都有賣一種美式「雞肉飯」，菜色有三塊雞肉、馬鈴薯和蔬菜，售價是美金 1.79 元，而當時贏一次賭局的標準回饋是美金 2 元。換句話說，只要你贏一次賭局就有足夠的錢去買一份雞肉飯填飽肚子，所以要能夠「吃雞」，就至少要贏一把的意思。

在「絕地求生」遊戲中，如果玩家吃雞，表示玩家在遊戲中獲勝，存活到最後，畫面就會出現「大吉大利，晚上吃雞。」的恭喜字樣，於是「你吃雞了沒？」便成了玩家之間的常用問候語了！

[British Army] Combat Medical Technician - Meet the real 'Our Girl'

Corporal Angie McDonnell from 256 Field Hospital is a Combat Medical Technician in the Army Reserves and deployed to Afghanistan in 2012. For her regular job she is a paramedic but in her military life she is a Combat Medical Technician in the Army.

Speaking about her time in the Army Reserves Angie said:

“I have loved every minute of my time in the Reserves. Anything I can do to broaden my experiences I will do, and the Army has given me the opportunity to go to Afghanistan, Kenya and Normandy so far. Some of my life long friends are people I have met in the Army and every time you do something new, you meet new people who you can trust and who have shared those unique experiences offered by the Army.”

She deployed to Afghanistan in September 2012 just two years after joining the Reserves after fast-tracking her training. She served with the Scots Guards before and the Royal Fusiliers during her tour. Being a female in an all male environment has its challenges but Angie said that the soldiers she served with were all fantastic:

“You can’t be shy! We were out on the ground a lot operating from the Warrior armoured vehicle and we were out for long periods of time. Privacy is definitely limited as you have to wash, sleep and change in front of others. But you don’t really notice it though as everyone just mucks in and focuses on the job at hand.”

Angie’s role as a Combat Medical Technician in Afghanistan was to be the first line of medical support for the soldiers on the ground, whether that is treating minor issues such as blisters or treating major battlefield injuries like gun shot wounds.

“The job in Afghanistan was great. We were out on the ground a lot, on operations either in an over-watch role of British operations or supporting Afghan Army operations. It was a busy but amazing time and as we were out a lot we were at the same risks as the guys, which really brings it home when you are getting shot at.”

Angie watched the show on Sunday and had this to say about it:

“I think the show is great and really brings home the diversity of the situations you can find yourselves in when deployed on operations. Lacey really portrays the role well. I didn't realise how much I missed being out on tour until I watched the show.”

As the Afghan Security Forces have now taken on responsibility for all security for the country, the British combat mission in Afghanistan is coming to an end by December 2014 and forces in the region are already starting to drawdown and redeploy people and assets from the country.

The UK’s commitment to Afghanistan does not stop there though, we are the lead nation supporting the Afghan National Army Officer Academy in Kabul which trains and develops the future leaders of the Afghan Army. Alongside our NATO partners we will continue to support the Afghan government financially and institutionally over the next few years to help stabilise the country and give the Afghan people the best chance for success.

Our Girl was broadcast on BBC 1 at 9pm on Sunday 21 September and continues this Sunday. The programme is also available on BBC Iplayer.

加拿大哈利法克斯級巡防艦「渥太華號」今（16）日通過台灣海峽，被中共解放軍艦艇尾隨在後。事實上，哈利法克斯級巡防艦為加國皇家海軍主力水面作戰艦，雖然已服役30年左右，12艘完成性能提升的同級艦，仍是守護加國近海、遠洋的重要兵力。《自由時報》軍武頻道透過「圖解軍武」方式，帶您一窺加國海上首席衛士的實力。

以12座加拿大城市為名

如果有去過加拿大旅遊、生活的讀者，勢必對「哈利法克斯」這個名字不陌生。事實上，哈利法克斯就是位於加拿大東南部的大城市，另外11艘同級艦，也是以溫哥華、魁北克、多倫多、蒙特婁等大城市為名，今日通過台海的「渥太華號」就是取名自加國首都，與世界主流軍艦命名原則相符。因此，該級艦又被暱稱為「城市級」巡防艦。

低矮且納入匿蹤概念的前衛設計

哈利法克斯級巡防艦在1970年代末期開始設計，12艘軍艦於1992年至1996年之間陸續服役，雖然已經服役28年至33年，但其與充滿高聳桅杆的80、90年代艦艇有所不同，不但艦橋比較低矮，部分艦體也可見已成為主流的低雷達截面積傾斜設計。另外，該級艦的煙囪、排煙道、艦體與螺旋槳都經過特別設計，可減少熱能與紅外線散出，以及噪音與抖動等情形，不僅可減低被他國偵獲機會，也可略為提升官兵搭乘的舒適度。

不俗的動力表現與航程

哈利法克斯級巡防艦排水量約5000噸以內，在水面作戰艦之中只能算是中型艦艇，卻有著不俗的續航力，其可以15節（約時速28公里）航行9500浬（約1萬7594公里），除了可在加拿大狹長的海岸線、廣闊的近海執勤外，也可在補給艦的協助下，遂行跨洋航行任務。這級軍艦混合運用2具奇異公司的LM-2500燃氣渦輪引擎、1具SEMT-Pielstick 20 PA6 V280柴油機作為動力來源，若以燃氣渦輪引擎為主要動力，可將航速拉高至30節（約時速56公里），整體性能不俗。

升級後更均衡的現代化武裝

哈利法克斯級巡防艦問世之初，主要負責反潛任務，隨著其他水面艦陸續退役，以及該級艦服役時間越來越久，因此，加國政府於2007年宣布為12艘同級艦進行性能提升計畫，規劃自2010年實施至2018年，讓這批加國皇家海軍主力可服役至2030年。

哈利法克斯級巡防艦的整體戰力尚稱均衡，在完成性能提升後，其攜帶16枚射程可達50公里的RIM-162進化型「海麻雀」防空飛彈、8枚射程超過130公里的「魚叉」反艦飛彈，遂行防空、反艦任務，還有24枚Mk46反潛魚雷，可在主動聲納、拖曳式被動聲納的偵測下打擊敵軍潛艦。

值得一提的是，哈利法克斯級艦的武器配置，有幾個獨特之處，首先，其搭載的艦砲為波佛斯57公厘砲，並非中型艦主流的76公厘艦砲，或者大型軍艦的127公厘艦砲；其次，該級艦的進化版「海麻雀」防空飛彈，雖然裝載於垂直發射系統之內，但並非埋藏在艦艏、艦艉甲板之中，而是「搭建」在艦體左、右兩側，一側有8枚飛彈。

在性能提升之後，哈利法克斯級巡防艦的偵蒐系統與次系統也相當夠用，對空搜索雷達採用泰雷茲的SMART-S Mk2旋轉3D陣列雷達，可掌握250公里外的空中目標，或者40至80公里處的平面目標；另外裝設德國萊茵金屬公司研製的MASS（多彈藥軟殺傷系統），可在敵軍飛彈來襲時發射誘餌，保障艦艇與人員安全。

雖然哈利法克斯級巡防艦透過升級強化性能、延長壽命，但加拿大政府除了固守北美安全之外，也有意在國際軍事行動之中扮演更積極角色，加上無人機、飛彈技術日新月異，需要更先進的軍艦來守護海疆。因此，加拿大去年6月拍板，將在2050年以前，建造15艘搭載先進神盾戰鬥系統的「河流級」驅逐艦，排水量將達7800噸以上，比起哈利法克斯級艦大得多。全案至多將斥資600億加幣（約新台幣1兆3829億元），是加拿大自第二次世界大戰以來，最具規模的造艦計畫。
