2018年的氣候變遷的新聞並不全然都是末日或是讓人憂鬱的新聞。

這裡有10個驚人的進步前兆，顯示我們能夠解決氣候危機：

 1. 中國部署超過六萬名軍事人員進行造林。該計畫將會種植超過32000平方英里的樹木，相當於一個愛爾蘭的面積。

 2. 美國加州通過了一個法案，誓言在2045年達到全面使用再生能源。為了達到目標，新建造的房屋必須於屋頂上安裝太陽能板。

 3. 紐西蘭禁止了所有新的離岸鑽井計畫。此外，首相Arden更向全國誓言將在2035年達到全面使用可再生能源發電。

 4. 以色列誓言在2030消除煤炭、汽油、柴油之使用。

 5. 哥斯大黎加宣布將於2021全面禁止各種化石燃料。他們將會成為全球第一個完全去碳化的國家。


 7. 愛爾蘭不但成為第一個自化石燃料撤資的國家，更公布他們的新計畫：將250億元重新投資在低碳過渡期上。

 8. 美國能源公司Xcel宣布在2050年達到零排放之目標。他們是第一家訂出這樣的目標之主要美國公共事業公司。

 9. 2018年有超過1000億瓦的太陽能板被安裝於世界各地，足以讓10億個LED燈泡發亮。光是美國就宣布了足以供電150萬戶家庭的離岸風力發電廠。

10. 2018年，太陽能發電與風力發電合起來的電量超過了1兆瓦的裝置容量之里程碑，相當於1600座燃煤火力發電廠。

2018年證明了我們已經有能夠解決氣候變遷的科技與Know-how。現在，我們只需要把規模給擴大。
