從之前看《打工魔王》（藉漫畫版追劇情進度），就覺得為何諸多天使裡面會摻了一個「萊拉」，前一陣子看動畫才想起來：萊拉源自阿拉伯語「夜晚」，而閃族人誤將此詞與「夜鳥」、「夜魔」做了連結──莉莉絲（Lilith）。

In Mesopotamian mythology, Lamashtu (𒀭𒈕𒈨; Akkadian dLa-maš-tu; Sumerian Dimme dDim3-me or Kamadme) was a female demon/monster/malevolent goddess or demigoddess who menaced women during childbirth and, if possible, kidnapped their children while they were breastfeeding. She would gnaw on their bones and suck their blood, and was charged with a number of other evil deeds. She was a daughter of the Sky God Anu.

Lamashtu is depicted as a mythological hybrid, with a hairy body, a lioness' head with donkey's teeth and ears, long fingers and fingernails, and the feet of a bird with sharp talons. She is often shown standing or kneeling on a donkey, nursing a pig and a dog, and holding snakes. She thus bears some functions and resemblance to the demon Lilith in Jewish mythology.

To take revenge on Adam, she pursues human children. As such, she would kill a pregnant mother's baby in the womb, causes impotence to men or attacks little children with illnesses. According to occult practises, she would be subject to the demon-king Murrah al-Abyad, which appears to be another name for Iblis used in magical writings. Stories about Qarinah and Lilith merged in early Islam.

Jinn (Arabic: جِنّ‎), also romanized as djinn or anglicized as genies, are invisible creatures in early pre-Islamic Arabia and later in Islamic culture and beliefs.

Islam places jinn and humans on the same plane in relation to God, both being subject to God's judgement and an afterlife.

Although usually invisible, jinn are supposed to be composed of thin and subtle bodies (Arabic: أَجْسَام, romanized: ajsām), and can change at will. They favor a snake form, but can also choose to appear as scorpions, lizards, or humans. They may even engage in sexual affairs with humans and produce offspring. If they are injured by someone, they usually seek revenge or possess the assailant's body, requiring exorcism. Jinn rarely meddle in human affairs, preferring to live with their own kind in tribes similar to those of pre-Islamic Arabia.

Since jinn are neither innately evil nor innately good, Islam acknowledged spirits from other religions and could adapt them during its expansion.

Lilith，或她的起源、predecessor，其實是早於猶太教，是古代美索不達米亞的女性惡靈，應起源自啞加迪亞（阿卡德；Akkadi）文化中的lilu（男性）／lilû（女性）精靈（spirit）或惡靈（demon）。

所以當說創世之初，一個Adam與一個Lilith
指的不是第一個男人與第一個女人
而是第一個人類與第一個惡靈或地靈（精靈）
若說第一個地靈，那就符合伊斯蘭的思想：人類與精靈平等，都是造物主所創造。進一步而言，都是這世界（地球）上的生命。

伊斯蘭的魔鬼／魔王Iblis（jinn出身）當初是不願意服仕人類（「火之子焉可拜土之子」），因而遭貶；這段故事類似猶太傳說中原本的第一位女人Lilith不願聽亞當（人）的話而被逐出伊甸（或憤而離去）並成為惡靈，且誓言將謀害人類孩童。
