5月 Horoscope for Virgo

This month has time and opportunity for just about everything you love: travel, learning, adventure, and the possibility for changes in your living situation and possibilities to make big strides in your career. It's one of the most important months of the year for you!

We are now in eclipse season, having come through the first eclipse in Scorpio, 6 degrees, last month, April 25, and lickety-split, we have two more eclipses barreling our way, a solar eclipse May 9 and a lunar eclipse May 25. The hardest one of the three occurred last month, as that lunar eclipse was conjunct Saturn, lending a serious overtone. Serious does not mean bad, so you may not have been troubled by that eclipse at all, as Scorpio blends well with your Virgo Sun sign. You may have traveled a short distance or had papers to sign. Anything you agreed to at the end of April would be in place a very long time.

The next eclipse will be a good one for you. It will arrive as a new moon solar eclipse in Taurus 20 degrees on May 9 or May 10. It will help you move ahead on important overseas travel (or to make living arrangements abroad if you are moving for a long time or permanently). Do you need a visa, green card, and passport or to settle immigration or citizenship matters? This eclipse will help you do so - start getting busy just after May 10 for best luck.

This solar eclipse will also help you to choose a college for your undergraduate or graduate work, assuming you applied to several universities. If you hope to get a grant or to start work on a thesis, this eclipse will set things in motion - eclipses are famous for speeding up events dramatically. If you hope to take an exam that will assess or prove your credentials, like the Bar, this would be the time to start studying in earnest and perhaps to hire a tutor if you feel one would be helpful. If you need to initiate a lawsuit, again this eclipse, which will fill your expansive ninth house, will give you the edge. File just after May 9/10.

Many Virgo are incredibly talented with writing, so you may see a book get published or a screenplay optioned. Publishing and broadcasting projects glitter and glow, so start showing your treatment and book proposal to anyone who will look at it.

This eclipse is conjunct Mars, an indication of just how very energized you and many others around you will feel after this eclipse shows up on May 9/10. Pluto, a very powerful planet, will be in perfect agreement and help you push things forward too, also very quickly. Pluto often relates to the government or behemoth companies - you'll have support on all these levels and especially from VIPs in the financial area.

If your birthday falls on September 12, plus or minus five days, this eclipse will be especially beneficial for you. It may still affect you positively if you do not have a birthday that falls near that date or if you have a natal planet found at (or within five degrees) of 20 degrees Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn. Next in line in the pecking order will be those Virgos with a natal planet that is near 20 degrees of Pisces, Scorpio, or Cancer. If you do have a planet there, you stand to benefit too from this May 9/10 eclipse. See what comes up.

Watch May 16 closely, as it will be the day Mars moves over the degree of the eclipse, 20 degrees Taurus - you may see big news related to one of the areas we have been discussing.

The third of the three eclipses will come May 25, a lunar eclipse in Sagittarius at 4 degrees. This eclipse will be a full moon and end something, and will have to do with your home or family. You might move to a new apartment or house soon, and find the space very unexpectedly as a result of this eclipse. Uranus will be very friendly, and because Uranus is in your sector of other people's money (eighth house), it looks like you'd get a mortgage fairly quickly that offers you very attractive rates. You may get a gift of cash from your parents as a down payment on your new house or condo, or your elderly uncle may tell you that you will be remembered in his will.

Neptune will be at hard angles to the May 25 eclipse, so make sure you have all the necessary facts. For example, if buying a house, the seller may have not told you all the pertinent facts. Check for problems with water. Your partner or broker may be oddly out of the loop and not a bit helpful, so tell yourself it's up to you to make sure you know all that you need to know. Eclipses tend to put a spotlight on a situation and reveal it thoroughly, but keep digging nevertheless. If you are not leasing, buying, or selling, Neptune may have to do with a family member who is not squaring with you fully. If your instinct tells you there is more to the story, keep asking questions.

Eclipses are very important to watch in any given year, for they are the cosmic wild cards, as we can never quite know precisely what eclipses will bring. They always pack an element of surprise. They push us and prod us, show us our weaknesses, dramatically move up our timetables, and prove to us that we are ready to take on a bigger goal or fix something that has dragged on too long. Eclipses have no patience with the status quo. If you say to the universe, "Gee this is not a convenient time " the universe will bellow a deep belly laugh. You will soon feel the hand of the universe on your back, pushing you forward. Eclipses are non-negotiable, so once you walk across the rickety old bridge to the other side of that deep ravine, that rickety bridge will suddenly disappear and collapse. There will be no way back. That's a condition set on purpose by a wise universe, for it can't have everyone running back to a former situation. How can we get progress that way?

I feel you will enjoy the opportunities and changes that are coming up as a result of the May 9/10 eclipse. If you should find you really do not like a choice you made at that time, you can always make more changes on the road up ahead. The universe does not want us to be little gerbils on a wheel, continually repeating what we have done before, over and over. The universe wants us all to have new experiences, and to grow, and eclipses are very good at helping us evolve into more mature and enlightened versions of ourselves.

Lunar eclipses are always full moons (April 25 and May 25), and solar eclipses (May 9/10) are always new moons. Lunar full moon eclipses end or conclude something, so that you can clear the decks to welcome the new. Lunar eclipses are more emotional than solar eclipses because they bring up sentimental memories and feelings that you may not have felt in some time. Generally, solar eclipses are more upbeat and bring opportunity. Solar eclipses are not as emotional as lunar eclipses as a rule, but I have seen exceptions. Solar eclipses open a door and bring all sorts of new elements into play. Virgos born at the very end of August, near August 27, will feel some tension as a result of this eclipse. If you are not moving, one of your parents may need your assistance, so be sure to be available.

If you read last month's report I wrote for you, you already know that the eclipse last month on April 25 in Scorpio 6 degrees may have caused you to travel a short distance, or may have brought a document or a contract to your attention to sign. Generally it is better to give yourself several days (or more) distance from an eclipse before you sign anything, as they kick up a lot of dust and it becomes hard to see the path ahead. In fact, it's often hard to discern which way the wind is blowing and which direction things are ultimately headed. Having said that, big life events tend to happen on eclipses, so often we HAVE to act on eclipses, for so much happens at that time. All eclipses have a second act, so keep an open mind - you can't call them good or bad when they come up until time passes.

If you would like to read more about the eclipse of last month, the April 25 lunar full moon eclipse, you can always look back to the report that I wrote for you one month earlier. Find the link here, at the bottom of your report, under Dates to Note.

I will give you examples of just how dramatic any kind of eclipse can be (it does not have to be a total eclipse to be powerfully affected.) My first book, and one of my favorites, Planets and Possibilities, which talks about little-known details about the signs, was published on the date of a total eclipse of the moon, which arrived at a total lunar eclipse in Cancer 19 degrees, January 9/10, 2001. That book took four years for me to write, as there was so much research to do. No wonder it arrived on a full moon - full moon crystallize ideas and actions. The book is still on all the booksellers' websites in paper and all kinds of digital versions. After I finished it, I thought I would never write another book again, I was so exhausted, as it ran 432 pages. Ha, ha, I was to write 9 books after that, and am working on one for you now. (See? I never learn.)

I had one of the most harrowing operations of my life within hours of the new moon total solar eclipse in Cancer 8 degrees, June 30, 1992. I required 17 blood transfusions during the surgery that day, but the doctor managed to pull me through. I had begged my doctor to do this operation when I showed up in the emergency room by ambulance, but he was skeptical as to whether I could live through it. I said I would sign any papers necessary to absolve him of the responsibility for keeping me alive, but he just shook his head and told me I had given him every gray hair on his head. I want to make the point that my operation was totally voluntary; I could have instead opted for five months of traction for my broken femur in the hospital as I had done three times before. (Among other things I was born without marrow in my left femur bone, so I have broken it four times.)

I felt my aspects were good enough to give surgery a try, and I knew I was literally gambling my life on my ability to read my chart correctly. (I did not involve Little Mom, who taught me astrology - this was my decision. I didn't want her to feel responsible if things went terribly wrong.) Luckily, the end result was great, and although I had to be inside my apartment for a year while I recovered (waiting for the bone to grow around the steel in the thigh), I would have made that decision all over again. It was a very successful operation. Whew. I believe the only way to live is courageously. I knew I was young, my doctor was the chief of staff and the smartest doctor I had ever known, and he had operated on me before, so I was making a practical assessment, too, as you should.

In both examples I just gave you, those eclipses had an enormous impact on me and changed my life for the better, forever. They were defining, seminal moments in my timeline. These are only two examples - I am sure you can find many examples of life-changing events in your own life brought on by eclipses.

Think back to the biggest events of your life and get a list of eclipses for those years. (You can look them up on the Wikipedia or NASA websites, and you can go forward and backward in time). If a date you are searching for does not have an eclipse near that date, look to see if one occurred one month to the day later (or earlier), plus or minus five days. If so, that eclipse triggered that event. (A solar eclipse occurred exactly one month to the day before my wedding day.)

The end of May will be especially bright because two very rare aspects are coming up, and one in particular has your name written all over it.

On May 27, Mercury will combine forces with Jupiter for the only time this year. They are to meet for the first time in over a decade in your tenth house of honors, awards, achievement, and fame, and you are about to hear fantastic professional news on that day or in the days clustered near May 27. Memorial Day, a big holiday in the US, falls on May 27 and everyone has the day off, but if you are in the US, you can feel things building as the aspect builds. In your case, keep your antenna up on May 24 and May 27, 28, in case news may be delivered early or late. If you work on May 27, then it might come right on May 27.

Mercury rules news, but it also rules travel. If you were just saying to yourself, "Should I go away for Memorial Day weekend, May 24-27, or wait for the Independence Day weekend?" the answer is go for Memorial Day - it will be a much better weekend for you than the July 4 Independence Day weekend. If you live abroad (more than half of my readers live outside the US), you can use May 27 for career success, or perhaps ask for that day off and plan a fun four-day vacation.

The next day, May 28, brings another rare and brilliant event, when Venus will link to Jupiter, again, in your house of career. What a wonderful day to have an interview, presentation, or meeting with a client! Venus and Jupiter will meet in your house of fame and honors, just like the meeting of Mercury and Jupiter, so this will be your week for impressing VIPS with smarts AND charm! What a great impression you will make! Venus is the natural ruler of your income house, so you may see your salary or fees go up dramatically on this day. Venus also rules all the areas discussed in connection with the May 9/10 eclipse - publishing, broadcasting academia, legal matters, international travel, and business.

Next month, you will have an even bigger chance to leave your mark on the world in your career, thanks the new moon June 8. Get ready for your close up, dear Virgo!
Summary

Many planets are moving toward earth sign Taurus, a sign with an element like yours, dear Virgo, and this means life is about to become very sweet indeed. Venus, Mercury, Mars, the Sun, and later, on May 9, the new moon solar eclipse, are all about to act like loving little relatives who want to make you happy. Various areas of life are about to become active and bring a bounty of benefits. You may travel overseas now, possibly for your work, or be involved with a citizenship, immigration, or a passport situation. If you travel for love, go over the weekend of May 5-6, when Mars and Pluto will exchange sweet signals, sure to make it a loving weekend to remember.

Alternatively, in early May you may devote yourself to an important thesis or white paper, possibly as part of your university study. Virgo also tends to be very talented with communicative projects, so you may be working on a book, Internet, or other publishing venture or on a TV, radio, or other broadcasting project. All these areas shine brightly for you, especially after the new moon solar eclipse May 9 and continuing for ten days. If you are in a legal matter that involves the courts, you will have your very best chance to get a settlement idea approved by the other party then, or to get a final verdict in your favor.

The end of May brings even more good news. Your career is about to heat up in a big way, for most of the planets will, like a group of happy revelers, seek even more interesting action and head to your tenth house of honors, awards, achievement, and fame. You need to have your wish list ready when these planets show up, because early next month you will have the best professional opportunities being served up to you this year - and very possibly for many years - to reach for the stars. Look at your goals and update them if necessary. You currently have Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, in this same career house, and after June 25, Jupiter will leave, not to be back for another 12 years. Now and next month (but especially next month) you will have the ear of a very high level executive who will be willing to give you a hand up on a dream dear to you. If ever there were a time to think big and courageously about professional matters, it's now.

On the lunar eclipse, May 25, you will focus on your home and family matters. You may move during that last week of May, or you may hear important news about or from a family member, most likely your mother. If you need a mortgage, refinancing plan, or home improvement loan (or, actually if you need ANY large funding outside of your own resources), you will get a shot of excellent luck from Uranus, the planet of unexpected developments. Seek the money you need from the authorities - even if you feel the odds of getting the money is stacked against you. You may be pleasantly surprised when you get that "yes" from a source you did not expect. Neptune, on the other hand, is being difficult, so your partner may turn out to be clueless, hopeless, or completely incapable of understanding any of the things you are trying to do. Make sure any partner you have is not withholding information from you as well - in this case go slowly until you can see the lay of the land.

Dates to Note for Virgo

Most Romantic Dates: May 4 (wild card, could go either way), May 9, 18, 22, 23, 27 (five stars), and May 28.

The solar eclipse of May 9 plus two weeks will bring you many options and benefits. You may travel far and wide, choose a university to attend in the fall, or begin to work internationally. You may also have an important media project starting up that can become a jewel in your crown. Spread your wings and enlarge your horizons.

The full moon lunar eclipse of May 25 will light your house of home and family and help you finalize a residential plan, or rent or buy a summer home. You may alternatively attend to a concern for your parent.

One very fortunate day is when Mercury, your ruler, will make its annual visit to your Sun, May 27. This time, the two planets will meet in your house of career prestige and fame.

You will have a dazzling career day on May 27, due to Mercury conjunct Jupiter.

You may hear good news on May 28 about your salary or a fee for a project you are doing, a great day due to Venus and Jupiter in sync.
