Taurus Horoscope for December 2013By Susan Miller
As a Taurus, having a secure nest egg is important to you. Your consistency is your secret, as most Taurus can always find ways to stash a little money away each month. Over the years, those savings add up.
This month, the friendly new moon, December 2, will bring you many opportunities to augment your finances. All new moons open a door of opportunity, and this one has such a strong and happy beam from Uranus, planet of surprise, that you may find your efforts bring you better, more lucrative results than you'd ever expect.
Your eighth house is being activated, and that house rules commissions, royalties, licensing fees, bonus, and all funds outside of salary. This house is called the house of other people's money, and usually is money you need to launch a big idea that would require more funding than most people would have in reserve. You may receive a mortgage or refinanced mortgage with excellent terms, or the bank loan or venture capital you need to launch a business. You may need to sort out the details of an inheritance from a relative's estate, or you might apply for a scholarship or financial aid so that you can pay for college tuition. These types of areas shine for you now, so meet with your banker or investors and present your case.
New moons bring new opportunity in the area of the chart it falls. In any new moon, my job is to show you will see the highest levels of productivity and to also help you with your timing. After that, you take over and supply the energy to make things happen. There is no predestination in astrology - you must take action to show the universe your intent. This month, if you are intent on finding a source of cash in terms of a large, one time payment, you may be surprised at how supportive people will be when you make you application.
If you are interviewing for a new job, you may be getting to the part of the interview process where money will be discussed with you. The December 2 new moon (plus ten days) will help you negotiate generous company benefits, whether that turns out to be health insurance, vacation days, matching tuition funds, a year-end bonus, and other such financial matters. You may even get approval to work at home one day a week if your commute is long. These side perks may be just as valuable as the salary you receive. Keep in mind that the new moon will be strongest the day it arrives, and will gradually fade in strength with each passing day until it is completely "spent" (this month, by December 12 or so) and the full moon begins to take over as dominant force.
This month will have high contrast between the happy spirit of the first half and the more serious mood that will take over the second half. The end of December has some very rocky storms rolling through, starting December 24, and they don't let up. I will tell you about those in a moment, but my point in telling you this is to suggest you act on all your most important financial dealings quickly, as the month opens, for you won't want to be doing so while thunderous aspects start to move in later.
I feel you will be pleasantly surprised at how well financial talks go, because Uranus will be so very supportive to this new moon in Sagittarius December 2 (11 degrees). Neptune, the planet that can bring confusion, will be slightly troublesome at this new moon, so make sure you understand all the terms of any deal or contract that you might be asked to sign. A good lawyer will be worth his weight in gold, for with both of you looking at the document, the chances of anything that could bite you later would be reduced. Early December will also be a fine time to do savvy tax planning with your accountant to take advantage of legal deductions for 2013.
By the full moon, December 17 in Gemini (25 degrees), you will be ready to finish up all your financial talks and actions. You may send a check to cover a large, previously made financial obligation, such as to cover the tuition for your next college semester, as one example, or to put a down payment on a house. Or at the full moon, you may buy a costly item you've always wanted. At any full moon you would have an extra four days beyond the date of the full moon to finish things up, but I would like you to wrap up talks and actions as quickly as you possibly can, and not go more than a day beyond the full moon December 17.
Venus, your guardian planet, will go retrograde on December 21 until January 31. Every sign has a ruling planet, and yours is this gentle planet Venus, planet of love and beauty. When Venus has one of her rare retrograde periods that happen every two years for several weeks, the areas she rules become weaker and less glittering.
Venus governs good looks, so it's not the time to schedule any plastic surgery, nor to make other radical changes to your appearance. For women, two examples might be not to cut hair short after having had it long for years. It would not be the time to go from being a brunette to a blonde. If you are a man, you might not want to shave off your beard on an impulse during the retrograde period of Venus. If you want to make changes to your appearance, do it well in advance of December 21. (Trims and regular grooming are always fine to do - here I am speaking only of radical changes to your appearance.)
Because Venus is your ruler, you will have to work harder to get approvals on anything you'd like to do once you come to December 21 to the end of January. You may need approvals and funding to start a big project, but by the time you edge closer to December 21, that money may be subject to delays.
These out of phase periods of Venus are not supportive for giving a lavish party or for getting engaged, for it marks a time when love and affection take a back seat to fulfilling tasks and working hard.
If you had hoped to get engaged for Christmas or New Year's, it would be wise to get engaged early in the month, and then share the good news with family and friends at the year-end holidays. The date you make the proposal or acceptance of the proposal is important, but the day you share the news with friends and family is not - not unless you expect a terrible response from relatives! (In that case, don't share news until February!) That's why I would like you to have your engagement early in the month, far away from the date Venus takes her nap.
If you were hoping to start a new business, the same rules apply to you. Venus has dominion over beauty and love, and also to some degree, to profits. While Jupiter and Pluto are tied more directly to big money and profits, Venus is too, and because Venus is your ruler adds another layer of importance.
If possible, do not sign papers and open the doors of your new business during the period that spans December 21 through January 31. Of all the actions that surround a new business, the signing of the paperwork marks the greater of the two moments, if you should have to choose. I would prefer you avoid signing papers AND opening your doors from December 21 to January 31, but sometimes life does not allow us to rearrange schedules as much as we would like to do.
Now, let's talk about love. If you are single, your best time to meet new romantic interests would be from December 1 to 6, when Mars will be in his final days of touring Virgo (a highly compatible sign for you) and will light your fifth house of true love.
You have hosted Mars in this area since October 15, and it may have marked a wonderfully social period for you. If not, hurry! You still have a few days left of Mars energy. If you get invited to a holiday party, or other gathering, go, for you may meet an interesting person you would absolutely want to know better.
Additionally, if you were to meet someone new with the hopes of having a long-term relationship (possibly forever!), ideally, you would need to have Venus in strong, direct orbit, not going retrograde, where emotions may be capped for the entire duration of the relationship.
I say that because if a new relationship starts after December 21 through January, its "birth" will have happened while Venus was debilitated in retrograde, indicating that your new relationship may never deliver the full promise of affection you expect. Emotions would not be expressed as easily and freely from your side or from your partner's side. I am sorry to have to report this news about Venus in retrograde just before the holidays. This suggests that celebrations may be more suitable if arranged on a smaller, more private scale.
Mars will enter Libra on December 7, but not stay its usual six weeks, but rather this time remain nearly eight months! Libra rules your sixth house of work projects, so this is the area where you will be focused for a long time, until Mars leaves Libra on July 25, 2014. If you are self-employed, this may be good news - business will be brisk! If you work for others, your company will do well, and that will be true - no matter if you are an employee or owner, you may have to hire more recruits in coming weeks to get all the work done.
Pay close attention to news and changes in life's tempo after December 7, when Mars will create a trend that will last through July. It looks as though your new focus will be on work, but it may also be on health and fitness, which would be a great way to use this trend. Mars, is the timekeeper of the zodiac, and always shows us where our main attention will be drawn.
There is a big reason why you should be very optimistic about your career. Uranus, the planet that rules your tenth house of honors, awards, achievement, and fame will go direct on December 17, having been retrograde since July 17.
This suggests that the days circling December 17 may bring a very big clue that you will be given a chance to take a big professional step up soon. Pay very close attention to news you hear regarding your career from VIPs - something seems to be about to move forward with a bang. If so, you will see this all manifest at the end of January through the first ten days of February. As you see, your career and financial outlook could not be better, dear Taurus.
If anything untoward should happen in your career (and I am NOT saying it will, but I cannot see all in your chart), I can say it is only a sign you had to get away from your present job to free yourself for one much better coming by early February.
Now comes the time I have to report news that I would have just preferred to not tell you about, but here it is.
On December 24-25, most of us expect the world to become quiet and peaceful, as people all over the world get ready to celebrate Christmas. Those who are not Christians or are not religious often get the day off. It is almost always a peaceful time of the year, when all of us, of all faiths, celebrate the goodness of others, and when we show generosity and thankfulness to people who had been good to us over the year. However, on this day (of all days) the warrior Mars will receive a major challenge from unpredictable Uranus. This is a very tense aspect, so let's talk about it.
You will have Mars in your sixth house of work assignments, so you might be among those who must work on December 24-25. If so, there appears to be calamity or pandemonium in the workplace. It may be that co-workers are tired or cranky and are making you that way too. Or, it may be that your work is seasonal, and clients or customers seem to be storming the gates needing everything at once.
This aspect, Mars opposite Uranus, can be expressed in an emotional way through angry outburst, or in a physical way, where there may be a mishap. Although in the US, Thanksgiving on November 28 brought very difficult travel conditions due to a massive snowstorm, my calculations show a more difficult time at Christmas. I am not a weather astrologer (that is a different specialty), but something seems to be adding tension at this time. Allow lots of time for travel, and don't cut your schedule too close. In a month like December, waiting for the last minute will bring disaster.
The same part of your chart, the sixth house, is associated with your health, so you must keep yourself strong this month. If you don't, you risk getting a cold that sends you to bed December 24-25. I want you to have a fun holiday, so do all that you can to avoid that scenario. If your doctor suggests getting a flu shot, do it early in the month so that the vaccine has time to work. (Experts say a flu shot takes at least three weeks to provide protection.) Keep up your program of eating nutritious foods, and because I see you will be in the middle of crowds, wash hands frequently.
The following week brings even more difficult rumblings from the heavens. On December 29, Mercury will receive an opposition from Uranus, planet of unanticipated events. Mercury rules travel, so check ahead before heading out. If inclement weather is indicated, be sure to have your car tuned up to deal with cold temperatures and possible snow. If you plan to fly, check with your airline about possible delays before you go to the airport. Mercury also rules news, so news that reaches you may not be what you want to hear, and if so, it would come out of left field.
On December 30, the Sun and Uranus will be at odds, and Mars will also be at odds with Pluto. Whoa. This is sure to be a tough day. Stick to work, and keep your head down and out of the line of fire. Again, travel is likely to be unexpectedly hard, possibly due to outside conditions beyond your control, but also possibly because work needs to get done before you go, an arduous task.
Things won't clear up by December 31. When Mercury will conjoin Pluto and be at odds with Mars, another difficult aspect for travel or for interaction with others will come up. Someone will be intent on getting you to agree to something you don't want and don't like, and is being very forceful about getting you to give your consent. Don't do anything you don't want to do, of course. For this reason, I would suggest you keep New Year's Eve plans simple. The moon will be in Capricorn, which is very compatible for you, so you may be able to dodge problems by staying home and keeping plans small and private.
Valentine's Day on February 14 will be sweet, and although Mercury will be retrograde throughout February, anything will be an improvement over the last days of December, dear Taurus.
Summary
A new moon in your financial sector may bring a cash settlement, bonus, commission, insurance payout, or other chunk of cash within the days that follow December 2. News may arrive suddenly, perhaps just when you had given up on any substantial payment arriving before year's end. The entire two-week period that will follow this new moon will be a prime time to work on getting a large, one-time payment of cash. Keep plugging in early December, and schedule a meeting on December 10 or 12, two excellent days to talk about these kinds of financial matters. By the full moon, December 17, you may be humming a very happy tune, for you will see that the focus you applied to these matters is clearly paying off.
That full moon will have you sending checks but may also find you receiving one too. If you are in a creative field, you may sell one of your creations, for Neptune, the planet that rules the arts, will be very friendly to that full moon, December 17.
When Mars enters your workaday sector on December 7, your workload will increase. This can be good news, for your expertise and experience will be prized, and it's good to stay busy. If self-employed, you will be in demand and be able to generate lucrative new clients and assignments. A large, final payment will likely come to you as a fee or payment owed to you close to December 17, which is the day of the full moon in your personal wealth sector.
The turn of Uranus to direct motion on December 17 should bring even more professional news, this time making you very excited. You will get a certain clue that the efforts you've made to get ahead are starting to gather steam. By the last day of January through early February, all that you've done in the past to build your career will reach a peak that allows you to reach for the stars and see major career advancement.
Mars in Libra for almost eight months will increase your stress levels as you work to handle a new workload. To relax, find ways to add time for exercise in your schedule. Protect your health by having routine medical exams done soon, and find ways to ward off colds.
You may work in a seasonal profession, because it appears you will be working harder, not less, as you get closer to the December holidays. A normally peaceful time will suddenly turn volatile, so choose words carefully, as everyone, of every sign will seem to be on edge. Demands at work may weigh heavily on your shoulders this holiday season, making you ready to snap at the slightest provocation.
If you have a romantic relationship, protect it by showing how much you care with kind words and gestures. Your partner may need to be patient and understanding while your schedule sputters out of control, particularly at month's end, as you seem to need to become ever more preoccupied with your job.
The last ten days of the month will be the hardest. Venus will go retrograde, adding to a no-frills atmosphere from December 21 to January 31. This is even more significant to you than most other signs because Venus is Taurus' ruler. You will need to concentrate on responsibilities, not social events or romance, but fortunately, this is only temporary - as trends go, this is a short one. Venus retrograde is not a good time to spend a lot of money on clothes or jewelry, or to make radical changes to your looks.
On December 24, Mars will oppose Uranus, a difficult vibration that often triggers harsh words. The pressure cooker atmosphere will continue to build into the following week. Travel will not go smoothly over the holiday season, but particularly not over December 24 and 29-31.
Keep New Year's plans simple. The new moon January 2 is not so friendly either, so we need to be able to get through all this with an emotional umbrella in hand. By Valentine's Day cosmic storms will clear and you'll be in the perfect state of mind to celebrate your love for someone special, or if single, to meet someone new.

Most romantic dates, and days you can use for other things too: December 1, 4, 5, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, and 19.
The new moon in Sagittarius on December 2 may bring outstanding news about a bonus, a sale, or other large sum that is on its way to you.
A sexy text or email may make you very happy indeed on December 3 when Mercury will be in fine angle to Mars.
December 7 Mars goes into Libra until July 25, 2014 - your work will be very busy. Protect your health, as you will be extending yourself quite a bit.
If you need to take a business trip out of town, do it on December 10 when Mercury trine Uranus and results will be positive.
You will like the results of any short trip you take on December 12 too, when Jupiter will send good signals to Saturn - you can plan a future path and sign a contract.
The full moon December 17 in Gemini will bring a culmination to a financial matter - could be a salary or bonus negotiation.
On December 17, Uranus will go direct after being retrograde since July 17 - watch your career take off!
Your ruler, Venus, will go retrograde from December 21 to January 31, 2014. Your plans will stall, so don't launch a project or do anything related to improving your looks - you may not like the results.
On December 24, Mars will be opposite Uranus, causing people around you to be very vocal and cranky. Don't let anyone provoke you.
Do not travel on December 29 when Mercury will be in hard angle to Uranus.
More difficult days ensue on December 30 when the Sun will be in hard angle to Uranus, and Mars will challenge Pluto. Do nothing of vital importance. Think before you invest and do research. Travel will be fraught.
This year New Year's Eve just is not what you expect it to be, for on December 31 Mercury will conjunct Pluto and Mercury will square Mars. People will feel out of sorts, be prone to drink too much, and some may drive recklessly. Take precautions.
