Gemini Horoscope for December 2013By Susan Miller
December will be a very unusual month. You will see this to be true as you go along, but as you will see, as I present my case to you, it will be imperative that you act early in December while the Sun shines. Later, after December 21, storm clouds will move in, and the environment will be far less desirable for a solid outcome to your initiation. Act early and you will be pleased. Let me show you what I mean.
The new moon of December 2 in Sagittarius (11 degrees) will open a window of ten days where you can form a new partnership or make much more of an existing relationship. The alliance you will be thinking about may be with a personal romantic partner, or with someone with whom you'd like to make a business partnership.
Alternatively, in business, you might hire a manager, publicist, agent, stylist, lawyer, or accountant, or any other professional who will collaborate with you with on a one-on-one basis and who will bring important elements you need to help you to the table. This month, it doesn't matter if you are the agent or the talent - working in tandem with another qualified professional brings great results. If your birthday falls on or within five days of June 1, you will notice the benefits of coupling up in a very strong way - more than other Gemini.
This new moon will be so very positive for you that it will likely bring up some surprising opportunity that you didn't see coming. Uranus will beam sparkling direct rays to this new moon, and that will make all the difference. A friend may be involved with your luck and set events into motion, perhaps by giving you a tip or making an introduction.
Alternatively, it may be that you are merging energies with a friend, perhaps to open a business together. Uranus is the planet of surprise, so something about how things spring up will amaze you in the best sense - see what happens. You must schedule your actions early in the month to take advantage of this new moon. Later, cosmic storms will roll through the end of December, and if you don't act early, you will have lost your chance to get things "just so."
Financially, thanks to a wonder-aspect on December 12, you can find greater security and long-term success through a work project you may be doing at the time that should pay very well. Jupiter, now in your earned income sector, will receive a very stabilizing beam from your assignment sector. You may be working with a new client, or it may be that a client from your past will re-enter with a large assignment. This day is very special.
You have another big day coming up on December 17, at the full moon in Gemini, 25 degrees (operative two days prior and five days after, December 15 to December 21). This is a full moon that will address your deepest needs and desires.
It appears that what will come up at this full moon will have something to do with your abilities in communications - a writing, speaking, or editing project, or your work with a website, blog, or social media project. Or, news may involve aviation, telecommunications, or software development. Whatever you discuss also seems to involve people overseas and international markets. It could involve translation of a book or website into another language, as one example. You get the idea.
If your birthday falls on June 16, plus or minus five days, you will feel this full moon more directly than most. The same is true if you have 25 degrees Gemini rising (or within five degrees), a planet in Gemini, Aquarius, or Libra, or Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius near the same degree.
On the same day as the full moon, December 17, Uranus will turn direct. Again, we see the theme of communication, international import-export of goods, services or information, publishing and broadcasting, or legal matters coming up, again in a positive way. Room for creativity will be very strong, thanks to Neptune's assistance. Uranus has been retrograde since July 17, so will be a positive turn for the better. Watch to see if you get any subtle or dramatic news at this time involving one of the areas I listed for you.
Your social life will become more active too from now on, thanks to the turn of Uranus direct, but as you will see in my discussion of Mars below, nothing will be straightforward. Most of your friends will be kind and accommodating as well as a source of brilliant stimulation - but one friend (or number of people in social media) might give you pause when one or more individuals demonstrate odd or hostile behavior. Be careful not to share too much information.
Mars has been touring your home sector but is about to leave now on December 7 to enter Libra. In Libra, Mars will light your house of true love, not for the usual six weeks, but for nearly eight months. (Mars only comes to an area of the chart every two years, so this is news.) It looks like you've lucked out, for life is soon to get very lively. Get your wardrobe ready, because between December 7 and July 25, 2014, you will be stepping out quite a bit. To have Mars, the booster rocket to all your dearest desires, training his attention on your romantic life is a wonderful development, most of the time.
There is a little glitch. Mars won't always be gentle and caring, for sometimes Mars can act quite aggressively, as he will later this month. (I will tell you about what Mars will do later, all in good time.)
There is a little poem by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow that my mother used to read to me when I was little: "There once was a little girl, who had a little curl, right in the middle of her forehead. When she was good, she was very good indeed, but when she was bad, she was horrid." Just like this little girl, when Mars is good, few things that can compare - it's great. But when Mars is bad, he is just horrid, with Mars taking his antics straight out of this little girl's playbook. We always need to keep tabs on Mars.
As said earlier, Mars won't always be friendly during all those months - sometimes, when he comes up against another planet, he can act quite aggressively. This month, Mars' timing won't please us. Mars and Uranus will be at direct opposition on December 24-25, a very explosive aspect that has a wide tolerance of days that may spur an event within a week before or after this December 24-25, but most likely on these days. In the US, Thanksgiving brought difficulties in travel, but I feel Christmas may bring more inclement weather.
I am so sorry to have to report this, for this time of the year is very special. I feel you would want December 24 and 25 to be calm, as I do. Uranus brings on completely unanticipated events, so the idea is to keep things as steady as possible. You may not be able to control everything in life, but you can keep your schedule open and elastic so that you can move in any direction if necessary.
Mars will be in your love sector - involving the person you are dating or one of your children (also ruled by this house) - while Uranus will be touring your friendship sector. These social areas are the areas to watch. (Married readers or those in a long-term established relationship will not be involved in this aspect, but may feel it in terms of strange reaction of a friend.)
It appears more likely that a friend will say something (or do something) that may make you upset. Or, it may be something that you read in social media that was posted by a friend that rattles you, as the place Uranus will be touring - your eleventh house - rules groups, clubs, and social media. Whatever it is exposed might be done accidentally or casually by the other person. Don't be provoked, but rather listen carefully to all that is said, or think about anything that happens. You can always respond later.
I don't feel you will learn shocking news about a lover instead of a friend near December 24-25, but I will admit that it is within the realm of possibility. A few days earlier, Venus, planet of love and beauty, will go retrograde, from December 21 until January 31. When any planet retrogrades, it withholds its finest powers. Venus rules love, and also Libra, the sign that guards the cusp of your solar fifth house of true love. This means that although Venus represents love in all charts, for you, Venus seems to have a double tie to romance.
When Venus retrogrades, you may have a change of heart about the person you are dating. Or, if you feel your relationship has been moving too quickly, you might simply put the brakes on, to regulate its speed and slow it down. Venus retrograde is a time to rethink and reconsider how things have been going in matters of the heart. This will be true at month's end and throughout January.
Many couples choose Christmas or New Year's Eve to get engaged (when you look at the statistics). The problem is, when you get engaged you need the planet of love to be strong and active. My advice is, get engaged earlier in December, just after the new moon December 2, which will be so very favorable for marriage. You can enjoy your secret for a few weeks, and then announce things later to friends and family.
Actually, I feel it may be safer to announce things immediately - you probably won't be able to sit on big news like that anyway! As you will see in a minute, the last week of December is due to have some very rocky cosmic "weather" that will put many of us on edge. If you were at all worried about how your family might react to news of your engagement, you would be better to make your announcement sooner, rather than later.
As long as I am on the topic of Venus retrograde, I will digress to add a note here. The period from December 21 to January 31 would not be a good time to make any radical changes to your appearance. It is not the time to schedule plastic surgery or to have your hairstylist make a dramatic change to the color or style of your hair. This goes for you, too, my male readers. In your case, it would not be the time to shave off your beard that you've worn for a long time. When we make any changes to our appearance, we need Venus to be strong, for Venus is the planet of good looks. Knowing this, you can schedule any appointments you like early in the month.
Now let's return to the last week of December. As mentioned, Mars will oppose Uranus, cutting across both your social houses - friendship and romance - on December 24-25. Sometimes this aspect has an emotional manifestation, and other times, a physical one. For this reason, keep your holiday drinking to a minimum. Alcohol makes us say things we later regret, so it would be easy to spark an argument. Count to ten, and give the friend, sweetheart, or your offspring (who might say something that is upsetting to you) a bit of slack. Let it roll off you, dear Gemini.
Have a designated driver if you plan to visit relatives, and don't drive when tired. Don't leave too late at night. You may be fine and alert, but the other driver may have imbibed too much, and you can't control that.
What concerns me is that December 29 brings more storms when your ruler, Mercury, will receive a challenge by Uranus. Because Mercury is the planet of travel, you may have problems on the road or delays in air travel. Mercury also rules communication, so you may get news that rattles you.
On December 30, the Sun will be at sharp odds with Uranus, and a financial matter seems to put you on edge. On the same day, Mars will conflict with Pluto, another aspect involving money, perhaps because of a bill you need to pay. Or it you may decide to delay a purchase because you will need the money for something else that becomes more urgent. With Mars in hard angle to Pluto, someone will try to get you to take his or her advice or pressure you to take a course of action that you will resist. When in doubt, do nothing.
On December 31, Mercury, your ruler, and Pluto will be at odds with Mars, and Mercury will be conjunct Pluto - a recipe for disaster. Everyone, of every sign, will feel wrung out by these aspects. The moon will be in Libra on New Year's Eve, a slight saving grace for you, for Libra is a sign that blends well with yours.
I simply feel you will be exhausted by events this week, so I recommend you take a very simple, quiet approach to New Year's Eve this year. It's not worth spending a great deal of money to, say, go to Paris to ring in 2014, or to go to a very expensive club when aspects will be so volatile. You may be needed back home anyway, due to the likelihood of events arising so quickly in the last week. Nothing you expect will happen - something else will. That is how Uranus works - it's always something you aren't looking at. The new moon January 1 in Capricorn, accenting money, will bring tense news too.
The idea is that we all have to make it through this little tunnel and get out to the other side, where we will find peace and rest. Although Mars will be on a rampage for a while in the last week, it helps that Mars in Libra will be in good angle to your Sun in Gemini (especially if your birthday falls near June 2), and that is another advantage. This suggests you may find a way out to handle things in a very original, resourceful way.
Gemini is adaptable and flexible. When you face one obstacle, you are a sign that always has a Plan B. You think on your feet, and your razor-sharp mind moves at the speed of light. You know your intelligence can always get you out of any challenge, a major asset at the end of December.
Summary
It's been said that Gemini is always looking for its lost twin. When you shop and find things that delight you, you often buy two. When planning a vacation, you often visit two towns. You are classified as the double-bodied sign symbolized by twins, so with December seeming like two months rolled into one, neatly sliced in two parts, you'll view this as perfectly normal.
The happy side of the month comes in the first three weeks, and the tense side in the last week. This seems to be out of sync, for December typically makes demands on everyone - in terms of time and money - as the month begins, but gets increasingly calmer as the holidays arrive. This time, the universe has reversed things, where the holiday time will hold the greatest pressure, generally arriving after December 21 and running through the first part of January.
This behooves you to make the most of December early on, while you have the very friendly planets to support your ideas. The new moon, December 2, may spawn a commitment to a romantic partner, or, instead, you may form a serious business collaboration - either would happen early on.
With Jupiter and Saturn in rare agreement on December 12, your work may well merit an increase in salary - don't be shy about speaking up. It appears this money is earmarked for you!
Mercury, your ruling planet, will work hard to support you on December 3 and 10, meeting with Mars first to add sparkle to your love life, and seven days later, to add an element of surprise to your social life. A big moment of the month, when something dearly important to you will reach culmination, will occur within four days of the full moon in Gemini, December 17.
By Saturday, December 21, Venus will retrograde until January 31, a warning not to make radical changes to your looks. Delay plastic surgery or extreme changes in hair. Uranus will turn direct from retrograde on December 17 (making Uranus stronger) but will be in angry opposition to Mars on December 24-25 - you may have a "fallout" with your love partner or more likely with a friend. A cross glance or a few inflammatory words may cause a melt down. New Year's Eve is a popular time for couples to get engaged, but this year, you would be wise to get engaged in the first week of December, not later. You can always spread the news later to family and friends, at holiday time. The date you initiate the engagement is what matters most.
Mars, now in your love zone, often works as a positive energizer but now seems to only stir the pot and make you, your sweetheart, or a friend (or, less likely your son or daughter) fly off the handle. Tensions will continue to roll as December progresses. By December 29, Mercury, Gemini's ruler, will be under siege by surprise-a-minute Uranus, suggesting travel will become treacherous if the weather is bad. On December 30, Mars will block Pluto, possibly bringing havoc in the financial and social-romantic parts of your life.
Keep New Year's plans quiet, simple, and not expensive. With so many puzzle pieces flying out of place and into the air at December's end, "simple" will become the new black - what everyone will want.

You may now from a new partnership on the new moon in your opposite sign of Sagittarius, on December 2. A proposal may come up or you may collaborate with a business partner. News will come up spontaneously and go exceedingly well.
One special day for you should be December 3 when your ruler, Mercury, is friendly to Mars. Almost all news will be good news.
Mars goes into Libra from December 7 to July 25, 2014 and will light your love life. If you have children, you will focus on them more intently during this phase.
December 9 would be a great day to present an idea or make a sale - you can now come back with the order.
An exceptional day for travel, generating ideas, or hearing good news you never expected - December 10.
One of the best days of the month will be December 12 when Jupiter will be in perfect sync with Saturn. News of money you earned will be exciting, and with Saturn near, you'll find a way to save or invest it wisely.
The full moon in Gemini on December 17 will speak directly to you - something dearly important to you is coming to a final conclusion.
Uranus goes direct after being retro since July 17 - from now on a group you belong to will become more vital to you, and more helpful.
Venus will go retrograde on December 21 until January 31, 2014.
The week to come is going to be difficult, starting December 24, sad to say. Mars will be opposite Uranus, causing unexpected, aggressive outbursts, from a lover, child, or friend.
Travel will bring all sorts of unexpected obstacles on December 29 when Mercury will be in hard angle to Uranus.
This year the holidays are better kept low key. On December 30, the Sun will be at odds with Uranus, and Mars will be angry with Pluto, so almost nothing will go according to plan. You may wish you were home.
With Mercury not getting along with Mars, travel would be troublesome on December 31. The entire day seems off, so keep celebrations small and intimate - and at home.
