Virgo Horoscope for December 2013By Susan Miller
You might say that everyone you know celebrates home and family in December, for holiday time draws us all together. This month, you have an extra special emphasis on your home, family, and private life. You will see this emphasis take hold the minute the month dawns, thanks to a very friendly new moon, in Sagittarius (11 degrees) on December 2. All new moons give a ten-day window of opportunity, and if you act within that period, you can change your life for the better in the area of the chart indicated (for you it involves home and family) for the entire year to come.
After this new moon appears, you will have remarkable ability to focus on your living situation. You may stumble upon a breakthrough that allows you to improve your conditions, even if you've not found options to do so earlier. Statistics show that the vast majority of families in the US move between May and early September, mainly because children are out of school. Families without children move too, because the housing market loosens up at that time. Even so, you will be the exception to the rule - if you need to move in December, you can, and when an option comes up in December, it will come up suddenly, thanks to Uranus' alignment to this new moon.
Uranus is the planet of surprise, so something about this month spells "unexpected developments" in regard to home and your parents. This month, the new moon is so favorable, that news should be VERY positive. Have your cell phone powered up - you may be able to sign a lease or put a bid on a house suddenly. If you need a mortgage or home improvement loan, Uranus, now in your house of other people's money, suggests if you apply you are likely to get one with attractive terms early in December. If you need money for a down payment on the purchase of your house, you might ask your family for a loan. Virtually any plan can be put into place now, so forge ahead, as the spirit moves you.
This is the holiday season, so I feel that the most likely way you will feel this energy directed to home is having many guests visit you - some quite unexpectedly, but all very welcome. You may have them sleep over in the guestroom, or invite friends over for have a warm and cozy dinner with you and other friends. Keep in mind that having a cocktail party for a few guests for New Year's Eve at your place would be the right idea.
December 10 and December 12 should be excellent, and both days deserve a gold star on your calendar. On the first day, December 10, your ruler, Mercury, will be in the most positive angle to Uranus possible - this should bring sudden good news concerning home or your parents.
December 12 will be quite special too. On this rare day, Jupiter and Saturn will be at beautiful angles, linking friendship and communication - you may start a business with a friend, or take a short trip to see a friend. If you sign papers on this day, all that you agree to will have the possibility for a long future, so direct your time to the maximum use!
The full moon of December 17 in Gemini (25 degrees) will likely be a big moment for your career. You may get an exciting final offer on a position you've interviewed for lately, or enjoy major publicity in the press for your achievements. This seems like a major moment in your professional timeline, dear Virgo. Neptune will be beautifully angled to this full moon, suggesting that you will likely have room for a large amount of creative input to any position you are awarded at this time.
On the same day, Uranus will go direct, having been retrograde since July 17. (Major planets retrograde for months at a time.) Your house of work projects is ruled by Uranus, so you are likely to see brisk business if you are self-employed, or a project that you care about that has been held up for months may now be given the green light.
Further, Uranus is currently touring your eighth house of other people's money, and this tells me that if you work on commission or bonus arrangement, news will be very positive - you are likely to get more money than you estimated in a check handed to you.
If you are discussing a new, prestigious position, after you settle on salary, it is the area of perks and benefits that will shine especially brightly for you this month: better health insurance, vacation days, bonus, royalty advance, or commission. If you need to work from home one day a week to cut down on commuting, you may get your wish. At this point in the month, within five days, of December 17, you will likely be very happy over what happens at this time.
Mars will leave Virgo on December 7, a privilege you had since mid-October. When you have Mars in your sign, it means you have lots of control over events, and it is a good time to launch a new venture. Surely, having Mars in your sign always signals the start of a new two-year cycle. If you have a high level person that you still need to see to present an idea or to petition support or financing, do so in the first six days of December while Mars is still in Virgo.
Typically, Mars will remain in a sign for six weeks, as Mars did when he toured Virgo. This time, however, when Mars begins to tour Libra this week, Mars will stay almost eight months, from December 7 to July 25, 2014. During that phase, money will be a main focus for you. Admittedly, your expenses are likely to rise, but it could easily be because you have planned for this eventually.
Often major lifestyle changes herald higher than usual spending, say, if you are about to get married, start your own business, buy a house, or have a baby, for example. At the same time, the new emphasis on money in your life may encourage you to find new ways to increase your income, for as it has been said, necessity is often the mother of invention. This month you will have more than the usual level of financial demands.
First, Venus is about to retrograde, December 21 until January 31. Venus is the ruler of your second house of income, so if you were hoping to get a year-end raise, or the green light for a budget you need approved to move ahead on a project, things will either be held up or it will take time to get the answer, and you may need to wait until early February. The problem with February is that Mercury will retrograde from February 7 to 28. Be ready to revisit any questions that you've not received answers on quickly, within that tiny six-day window, February 1 to 6.
The end of December brings cosmic storms, and most seem to be about money. Take a deep breath, and realize that if the problem is money, it can be fixed. Let's look at what I see.
On December 24-25, Mars (actions) will directly oppose Uranus (unexpected news). These two planets will be touring your second and eighth houses, and these houses are both directly associated with money. You may suddenly have to write a check for an unexpected expense, say, when your computer goes on the fritz or your roof begins to leak. (I am so sorry to even have to suggest this possibility. I had once had to buy a computer suddenly at this time of the year. It's the hardest time of the year to get another expense, so I sympathize.)
The following week seems to underscore the financial dilemma you may face. (I hope I am wrong about this, so let me know if I am by going on Twitter and posting a note to me @AstrologyZone.)
Here is what I see. On December 29, your ruler, Mercury will confront Uranus in your house of credit. On December 30, the Sun and Uranus will be at 90-degree odds, and the same day Mars and Pluto will be at hard angles and all these aspects involve spending and money.
On December 31, we have Mercury conjunct Pluto, and Mercury will be at odds with Mars. And these planets too seem to be bringing up financial tensions. If you planned to make an expensive purchase, read the fine print and make sure there are no financial surprises that could come up later. You might also want to delay the purchase to see what else may come up first.
There is another way these planets may translate into your life. It may be that you discover that you've been subject to identity theft. Authorities will work with you if you jump on this problem immediately and do careful documentation. The sooner you solve it, the faster it will go away, if this is indeed the problem.
Whenever the eight house of the horoscope is involved in a series of major aspects, as it will be this month, December 24 to 31, it's possible that you may decide to go into the hospital to get a health problem fixed through surgery. Among people I have spoken to, many find the week between Christmas and New Year's a popular time to address medical concerns, because many people have time off from work This could be you this year, if you choose to do so.
If you were thinking of doing non-essential plastic surgery, do not do it at year-end, for Venus, the planet of beauty will be retrograde, as mentioned, after December 21 through January 31. When you make ANY changes to your appearance, including a radical new hairstyle, you need Venus to be helpful, strong, and supportive, not sleeping, as she will be at that time. Do those types of things early in the month, as far from December 21 as is possible.
I will say I want everyone, of every sign, to keep plans for New Year's small and private while these aspects pass through. Plan to have your New Year celebration at home, and if you do leave the house, check weather conditions: don't be out driving if the weather is icy, frigid, and snowy, and do not be out between 2:00 a.m. and 4:00 a.m. when everyone is the most tired. With aspects like these, stay in, and stay safe.
Stay positive, dear Virgo. There is always a way to outwit the planets.
Summary
You may feel it's a bit late in the year to start thinking about changing your living situation, but in fact, if you do, your timing would be perfect. The new moon, December 2, will bring a plethora of new options to improve your living situation that you've not seen before, all of them enticing. You can choose the scale of changes you'd like to make, from the grand (such as buy / sell / rent a new apartment or house), to making small changes, such as to paint a room, or buy new accessories and holiday decorations. If you'd like to help your mother or father with a family question, new ideas will surface too, for our parents fall under the same area of the chart.
Money has been on your mind since the new moon of early October, but now, with the entry of Mars to Libra, you may spend more than you anticipated. Costs will be high through July 2014, so knowing this, you may want to scale back a little until you get the lay of the land.
In this active month, the full moon in Gemini on December 17, in your house of career honors, awards, achievement, and fame, is likely to put you in the spotlight in your profession within four days of this date. Expect applause for work well done and possibly, a new title. If self-employed, a prestigious new client may arrive.
On the same day, December 17, Uranus will go direct after being retrograde since July 17. This will noticeably speed progress in regard to your finances. If you felt you have worked hard but not yet garnered rewards over the past year for your efforts, now you will see a noticeable, gratifying progress. Financially you should do well, especially if you expect a bonus or commission check. Even if you do not expect a change in your finances, new company benefits or an insurance payout may arrive and be quite generous. If anyone has owed you money for months, you are likely to get paid up after Uranus turns direct on or near December 17.
Venus, the planet of good looks, will go retrograde from December 21 to January 31, making it a poor time to make radical shifts in your appearance. Be conservative when changing hair color, but small, grooming trims are fine to do. Any form of plastic surgery is frowned upon whenever Venus is weak, as it will be this month (a rare trend), so either do your procedure in early December, or wait until mid-2014. (I say mid-2014 because other conflicting aspects will intervene in early 2014).
The end of December will be difficult. On December 24-25 Mars will oppose Uranus, and an unlikely expense will suddenly surface that you will likely have to cover, but it seems you never saw this coming. This will be only the beginning of a hard week.
In the days leading to New Year's Eve, you have your own ruler, Mercury, under siege by Uranus on December 29, suggesting a family member may need money (or not give you the money that you had been promised). Meanwhile, Mars, in another financial house, will argue with Mercury and Pluto, on December 30-31. The Sun and Uranus will be at 90-degree square on December 30. This says that additional financial concerns will almost certainly come up in December's last days, and may put a strain within a close committed relationship.
If money is not on your mind, you may be checking in with your doctor to have a procedure or surgery you had put off earlier in the year. Many people have the week between Christmas and New Year's off, so if the surgery is necessary, do it. If surgery is not urgent and necessary but elective, then plan it for earlier in the month to stay away from the pandemonium of planets that will be kicking up dust later.
It's due to be a turbulent end to the year, but with the moon in compatible Capricorn on New Year's Eve, if you have a gentle, private night planned for just the two of you, you may be able to celebrate the year in memorable, but quiet, loving way.
Dates to Note: Virgo
Most romantic dates, and days you can use for other things too: December 1, 5, 9, 12, 13, 14, 17, 18, 19, and 22.
On December 2 the new moon in Sagittarius may bring a completely new phase in your home-living situation. Uranus will prominently aspect the moon, so improvements and breakthroughs to home-related matters are likely to come like lightning.
A positive day will be December 3 when your ruler, Mercury, will be in sweet agreement to Mars. This is a good day for a speech, to hand in a writing assignment, or to travel.
Mars will move into Libra from December 7 until July 25, 2014. You will enter into a high spending period but will also be more motivated to find news ways to make more money.
December 9 is a special day, for a golden triangle will appear, linking the moon, Jupiter, and Saturn. It's a great day to be in touch with friends.
Mercury will be in ideal angle to Uranus on December 10, a superb day to brainstorm for ideas, to write, speak, or travel spontaneously. Mercury is your ruler, so it's extra special for Virgo.
A wonderful day to plan an event with friends: December 12 when Jupiter will be in comforting angle to Saturn.
The full moon may bring wonderful, jump-for-joy news about your career within four days of December 17.
Uranus goes direct at 9 degrees after being retrograde since July 17. Watch financial matters move forward noticeably, and positively.
Venus will go retrograde from December 21 to January 31, 2014 - do all your changes to your appearance well in advance of December 21 or wait until March to do so.
On December 24-25 Mars will oppose Uranus, and people around you will be fragile and easy to anger. Be very careful what you say and do. On the road if someone cuts you off, let them and don't try to retaliate.
The tension continues on December 29 when Uranus will be at odds with Mercury. This is a day when travel may be hazardous - check weather forecasts. People will be quick to say hurtful things.
Things won't improve December 30. The Sun will square Uranus, and Mars will be at odds with Pluto, so plan to keep to your own to-do list, don't offer criticism, and don't try to get the last word.
This would be no night to spend a lot of money and travel far and wide: December 31, Mercury will conjunct Pluto and both will be at odds with Mars. Keep plans simple.
