Aries Forecast for January 2014

As you begin January, you mean business about getting the job of your dreams. A new moon will appear directly on January 1, in Capricorn 11 degrees, and will help you get ahead professionally within the ten days that follow that moon. This new moon will be the only one of 2014 that will light your area of fame, honors, awards, and achievement (tenth house). If you are out of work, or hoping to exchange your present job for a better one, either way, the new moon will help you accomplish your desire.
I should tell you that difficult aspects are associated with that new moon - you can get over them, but you must be organized to do so. Mars in Libra and Uranus in Aries will pick a fight with this gentle new moon, causing 90-degree squares from both the moon's left and right sides, so the moon may feel like two thugs were coming at her at once. We will all feel tension, no matter what sign we all happen to be, and new moons set up trends, so it will last for weeks.
Still, I feel you can work with this new moon, even though it's flawed. New moons are very powerful, and with a buildup of planetary energy glowing from the place the new moon appears, your tenth house - including the Sun, new moon, Pluto, Mercury, and Venus (in other words, half the solar system) - you will have quite a bit of clout. You will have competition for any top job you aim to get, but as an Aries you do have the feisty spirit and energy you need to win. Nothing gets you going like a good contest.
With Mars stirring the pot from your house of committed relationships / marriage, you may have interference from your romantic partner, or at work - if you are represented by an agent, business partner, or manager, for example, you may not see eye-to-eye with your collaborator. Mars rules your sign, Aries, and with Mars being unfriendly to Pluto, the Sun, and Uranus, you may feel, at times, you are being asked to make a superhuman case to get what it is you want, but the point is you CAN. They say the outcome of a battle is won in the eyes of the general before a single shot is ever fired. If you have the determination to get it, you can prevail. Don't let anyone tell you that you can't.
Venus will be in weak retrograde all month until January 31, but in terms of your job search, Venus won't stop you. Venus might affect the salary you can agree on now (as Venus rules Aries' solar second house of earned income), but you can do well with company benefits and perks, such as health insurance, vacation days, and flex time (or working at home one day a week), as a few examples. Depending on where you are in your talks, if you can, save talks about salary until early February. You will have to work fast once you get to February because Mercury will retrograde from February 6 to 28.
It will be no use waiting until March, for Mars will go retrograde March 1 to May 19. Because Mars is your ruling planet, you need Mars moving correctly even more than you do Venus. As you see, you do need to make January work for you - if you are offered a job, take it. I feel you have good aspects in January, and although you will have to fight hard to get any position you want, you are up to the task. Remember, the only new moon of the year is January 1 (plus ten days) for a top career move.
You do have good aspects to the new moon, and that's the key here - Saturn will be in your house of other people's money, allowing you to negotiate a good deal for company benefits (not salary), or if you are self-employed, to get approved for money from a bank or venture capitalist. Also if you own your own business, you may be very successful in getting new clients. Jupiter will be in supportive angle to Saturn too, suggesting a long-term solution can be found, but as I said, you will have to present your case forcefully for it.
Pluto in hard angle to Mars suggests a pushy VIP is NOT convinced that you are qualified for the job - your mission is to convince this crusty person that you are more than qualified. A new moon will always open a path, and you do have help from Saturn and to some degree, Jupiter. The theme of the new moon follows it for months, so waiting will not make the situation any easier - you will have to be strategic and make sure your aim is accurate and your presentation polished.
On January 6, a Monday, Saturn will be in good angle to Mercury, so talks that you might schedule then will progress nicely. The moon will be in Aries on this day, another indication you will have some control.
Over the weekend of January 11-12, the Sun and Saturn will be beautifully angled, so you are likely to get along very well with an older or very realistic, practical person and come away enlightened. Venus will also be well angled to Saturn, so here again, you seem to do well professionally. This person may become a mentor or simply someone you go to for advice. This weekend has the moon in Gemini, so the actions you take seem to please you. This will be a theme that will enlarge as you go along. Being with groups of people, in seminars, mixers, trades shows, club events, even in terms of social media - participating will be good for you, for you will allow the element of randomness into your life. By that I mean that you can connect with people with whom you would not ordinarily rub shoulders. This month, that element of randomness will be the spark to the new direction.
The full moon of January 15 will switch your attention to a home or a family situation. You seem to be ready to see the culmination of an event or decision that will be going on there. Mercury will receive a shimmering vibration from Uranus the following day, January 16, and some of that aspect's pixie dust is sure to fall on the full moon. You seem to love the news. You may find the beautiful piece of furniture at a bargain price, the ideal apartment to rent, or a buyer for a house you've tried to sell. These are just a few examples, but you get the idea.
You won't necessarily have to spend a lot to see a beautiful outcome - a fresh coat of paint, some clever low-cost changes can make all the difference. You may also decide to have a sale of the things you don't need and see a good result.
If you've been meaning to make a decision about whether to relocate to take advantage of job opportunities, you would be ready to do so at this full moon, plus or months four days of January 15.
You do seem to have to convince your significant other of the wisdom of your choices this month, and that's not about to be easy. You will have to be persuasive, but again, you are very capable of doing that. Do not try to be expedient - you will have to have patience to detail all questions your partner asks you, but if you reason kindly with your partner, you should be able to find accord.
Romantically, in January, the joys you experience with your friends will be greater than what you feel with your steady partner, who may be a little demanding. Pursuing activities that are meaningful to you alone may actually help the relationship, for you will have more to share when you are together.
Also, if you are single, you need to be careful not get overly involved with a new person until you know more background. Get to know the friends and family in your new partner's life, for only that way can you get a 360-degree portrait. If you are not dating currently, you seem to be drawn to someone high level at work. Aries likes to take risks, but dating your boss, client, or other top level VIP might invite disaster. Venus is retrograde (weak), so sit out this dance, dear Aries. You will have somewhat better luck in February.
This month has two new moons, and the second one, January 30, in Aquarius 11 degrees, will be just your cup of tea. This new moon will light your house of friendship, and help you connect with new and influential people. Everything about this new moon will be unexpected, in the most delightful way. You will need to circulate to receive the treasures of this new moon, and if you do, you will meet many new people, and one or two will figure prominently in your personal life, and others will help you in your career.
If your birthday falls on March 31, or you have Aries rising 11 degrees, plus or minus five days / five degrees, you will benefit the most from this new moon. You will also benefit if you have a natal planet at or close to 11 degrees Aries, Leo, or Sagittarius, or next in line, Gemini, Libra, or Aquarius.
Venus is retrograde, so it's not the time to buy new eyewear or new makeup (women), or to change your hair so much no one recognizes you. Keep to normal trims and grooming, but don't schedule any big changes. Of course, with Venus asleep, it is no time for plastic surgery either. Venus, is, after all, the planet of good looks. If you had hoped to do a spa weekend or just a treatment, why not wait until February, after Venus goes direct January 31?
There is a very special set of days for love that might surprise you - January 28-29, when the Sun in Aquarius and Uranus in Aries will team up to cook up fun for you. This day seems to lie outside the general rules of anything I've said. If invited to a party - go. The Sun is the natural ruler of your fifth house of true love, romance, and creativity, so both will benefit in a big way on this day. Surprises will rain down on you, and you seem to be very happy.
Overall love will improve next month, dear Aries - as the saying goes, everything comes to those who wait. Nevertheless, see what January 28-29 has in store for you!

January will be a critical month for your career. The new moon appears January 1, but it is flawed and cranky, and if you recall, the last week of December may have been somewhat difficult too, so cosmic storms will continue to roll through early January. You have a superb opportunity to make a major career gain now - the best of 2014 - but with the moon flawed, you will need to be organized and ready to take on the competition. Inflammatory Mars' position suggests competitors will be storming the gates with torches in hand, willing to resort to extreme tactics get the plum position that you want, too. You'll need to stand out, but in the right way. Showing that you are innovative, creative, and resourceful will be a must, but don't sweat this situation - that's your specialty. With the Sun, new moon, Pluto, Mercury, and Venus in your tenth house of fame, you must forge ahead in January even if conditions are not perfect.
A bossy, self-absorbed, and at times arrogant VIP may make getting to ascend to a higher position harder. You will likely clash with this person, as the chemistry between the two of you seems "off." If you want the job, however, or hope to keep the one you have now (with a better title and more responsibility), be diplomatic, as hard as that may be to do. There are indications you may be tempted to have a hot confrontation with this person, but that won't do your career any good, so resist the temptation and keep focused on doing a great job.
Go out the weekend of January 11-12 for inspiration or to make contacts in your career - you should be pleased with the results, as the Sun and Saturn will be so beautifully angled.
At home, if you are attached, you may not find the going any easier either. Mars will stir the pot, to bring hidden resentments to the surface. Mars will be on a mission to find weak links in your life, but if Mars finds none, you will sail through this period easily. On the other hand, if the Mars does uncover something to show you, you will be asked to find a solution for if you do nothing, you risk seeing tensions escalate to even greater levels.
Some of your happiest moments will be when you decide to work on your home. Paint, decorate, refurbish, or redesign your space. The full moon will be in home-oriented Cancer, so plan to have your project finished within four days of January 15. You will have a great chance to make your home a beautiful rock of stability and a haven against a chaotic world, so get going in early January.
Be careful not to sign any documents or shop for expensive items on January 25 when Mercury, which rules agreements and commerce, will be under Saturn's thumb. Wait for better days, after Venus awakens from her nap, January 31. At month's end you can resume dating, shopping, and pampering yourself, confident you have a far better environment for getting the results you want. Also with Venus going direct, if payments to you have been held up, you will see checks come through to you then, too. If you are waiting to act after Venus goes direct, do so, but keep in mind that Mercury will go retrograde February 6, so you will need to be ready to act by February 1 or 2.
Romantically, if single, you are likely to meet a prominent person to date this month, but the problem will be that this person will be so used to getting things his or her way, without compromise. When you are subject to this attitude, you may have to remind this person that no one owns you, nor are you anyone's employee.
I do like the days of January 28-29 this month, so if you are invited to be out and about on either of these two days, go and expect the unexpected!
It is unusual to see two new moons in any month, but a second one will arrive January 30, setting off a lively social trend for you. With Uranus adding a dash of surprise and lightness, you'll likely see your calendar fill up, and among the people you meet will be a number of creative people who will stimulate your own creativity.
Be sure to mix, not only at parties of friends, but get more involved in social media at the end of the month. Try a new service, or use your favorite social media venue to connect with a wide variety of people in the weeks to come. If you are inclined to want to work to help a charity, the new moon, January 30 will present an ideal opportunity to do so. In all, the people you meet this month will have a strong part to play in your future, but you won't know quite how they will until events unfold in coming weeks and months. Have faith.

Although it is flawed because this moon is not friendly to Uranus, Pluto, and Mars, you can get over the professional obstacles and intense competition that you are likely to face. This new moon will be strong for two weeks. It is your best bet for a new position.
Venus will be retrograde all month, so wait until early February to make radical changes to your appearance.
January 11-12 is a great weekend to make new friends and to seek out inspiration, possibly from someone with more experience than you.
News concerning home or family (specifically, parents) will come to culmination at the full moon January 15.
Brainstorm for ideas on January 16, 28, and 29 when your mind will make brilliant connections.
Watch for good news regarding love and matters related to children on January 28 and 29, thanks to the Sun and Uranus in positive communication.
