2月 Monthly Horoscope for Aries

February will give you a chance to catch your breath because Mercury, the planet of communication, transportation, negotiation, memory, commerce, contracts, and decisiveness will be retrograde, which means Mercury will now shut down for a rest. Before you groan, there are a few good parts to having Mercury backward in Aquarius from February 7 to 28. You may be one of the few signs that will enjoy this period, for it is sure to bring more than a few old friends into your life again. I say that because Mercury, the planet of news, negotiation, communication, commerce, deliberation, memory, and reflection (among other things) will be in your eleventh house of friendship when it begins its backward slide. Friends will be key, important players for you in February, and I believe you will like this emphasis very much.

You will enjoy the slower pace that this month will bring, so you'll have opportunities to have quality time with some of your friends. You'll also likely meet new people too, and so you will expand your circle. You've been very busy, and you need a few days where you can slack off and simply think - Mercury retrograde will allow you to do this. Your schedule will become more elastic because a number of cancellations and postponements will come up. A sudden opening on your schedule may feel like a gift - free time to direct precisely as you please.

You will be able to finish up a lot of loose ends and put projects to bed whenever Mercury is retrograde. You may also find things. A treasure that you assumed you lost will be found now, or one that you completely forgot about will suddenly show up. You may also find that you will fit into clothes that you haven't been able to wear in many months (or years) now that you've lost weight. People and situations from your past will come up now for a reason, and this time, you will enjoy the serendipity of it all.

Do you sign a contract when your ruler, the red planet Mars, is retrograde? You may have no choice but to do so, for Mercury retrograde, in February, would be a worse time to sign. Can you wait until after Mars goes direct on May 19? That would be ideal, but don't wait too long. Shortly after Mars regains footing, Mercury will retrograde again from June 7 to July 1. Use the window that will open from May 20 to 31, with the best days coming May 29-31. Cosmic storms run through the first week of July, so you would have to wait until mid-July if you cannot take that opportunity in late May. Your other choice would be to sign in the first four days of February.

The point I want to leave with you is that you don't need all aspects to be perfect to get good results. You just have to be more vigilant to make sure that your details are done "just so" and that you also don't become distracted or disorganized. You can't get overly enthusiastic when discussing a new deal, and in your haste to start, you may leave too much money on the table. It will be easy to get carried away with the spirit of the moment.

I agree you can't sign any papers in February, and if you do tempt fate this month, later you will just have to renegotiate the venture all over again. We also tend to lose things during Mercury retrograde. If, for example, you love your sunglasses, leave them home and wear the pair that is not quite your favorite - it is so easy to get distracted and lose things. I find I have a rule - I say to myself, "Take off your earrings, Susan, once you get inside a taxi cab, especially at night " I find the collar of my coat may cause my earring to fall off and then it's gone. I also deliberately put gloves and sunglasses securely into my handbag or tote, not on the seat next to me, so that I have them when I leave the taxi! You need to be deliberate.

The new moon that occurred on January 30 will still be very strong as you start February, and that new moon will bubble up lots of social excitement. From the moment February begins, that new moon will open you up to many new people and events. That new moon was in Aquarius, an air sign, and air will invigorate your fire sign element. In love, you have some superb aspects, especially for Valentine's Day. This year, this day for lovers will fall on a full moon in luxury-minded Leo (26 degrees) February 14. If you have a sweetheart, or if you married to your sweetheart, you will likely to go out to a special, four-star restaurant (as an example). Or, your partner may surprise you with a beautiful gift you'd not have bought for yourself. With the full moon falling on Valentine's Day, emotions will be passionate and loving. This friendly full moon will contact Mars in Libra (the marriage sign), and remarkably, Mars (your ruler) will be IN your seventh house of marriage, so many Aries will talk of making a forever, ever commitment to each other mid-month.

A note to my readers in Brazil: I know your Valentine's Day is June 12, so even though February 14 will not be a day for lovers in your city, you can celebrate this lovely day and ensuing weekend on any scale that seems right for you. This full moon in Leo will be simply delicious, and will be ideal for treating yourself to a little special pampering. This full moon will be the only one of 2014 to light your house of true love, so it's a wonderful time to find the right person to love or to celebrate the love you already have found.

All full moons send a blast of energy that you can feel plus or minus four days from February 14. Still, February 14 will be a Friday, so I feel you will experience the glow through the ensuing weekend, February 15-16, too. Perhaps you will travel a short way for a romantic short weekend. If your birthday falls on April 14, plus or minus five days, you will feel this full moon the most.

If you work in a creative profession, or support creative staff, you'll be dancing on the tables near the full moon in highly creative Leo on February 14, for by then a project will be coming to a finish and all the world will be able to see the results. Mars, your ruler and planet of high energy, will be beautifully oriented to that full moon, giving you plenty of energy and enthusiasm. Another wonder-day for developing new creative ideas, or showing them, with be the five-star day of the month, February 28, due to the fine angle of the Sun and Jupiter. This is a day to circle in gold.

In terms of money, keep track of checks you are writing, as you may write for more than you have in your account on February 11, 14, and 18. You seem to have a lot of bills to pay. However in your enthusiasm to clear the decks and mail those checks, you may not realize you don't have enough to cover them. Your heart is in the right place, and you do have money about to come in - just keep doing the math when you mail payments out. Venus' turn direct on January 31 will help your cash flow quite a bit, because Venus controls your house of earned income. By February 28, news about your income may get even better, especially if you work in a creative field. It appears you are moving on to a better financial track, so stay happy!

The next new moon, due February 28 / March 1, will be in Pisces 11 degrees, and it will appear in your house of secrets and privacy. You may now embark on developing a project important to you in private, such as to work on a thesis or a screenplay, or to begin sketching a new designer collection, as a few examples.
