2月 Monthly Horoscope for Cancer

As February begins, you seem determined to get your tax preparation ready for your accountant, or to get down to business and do your taxes yourself. Gather and organize receipts if they aren't already in folders, but when it comes to actually filing this or any other important financial papers with an institution, file in March. February brings Mercury retrograde all month, February 6 to 28, so with Mercury, the planet of thinking and judgment in an off state, you are likely to make a mistake. You may have to send in an amended return, or not take full advantage of legal deductions you would be allowed to take.

Don't wait to the last minute either. Avoid filing directly on April 15, the deadline in the US (unless you get an extension) - but rather, do so earlier. A very difficult full moon lunar eclipse is due April 15, which will bring all kinds of news. Unless you know for sure that you are due a refund, you will want to avoid hearing tax news on that coming lunar eclipse. Two more eclipses are due in October (admittedly much easier ones), so if you need an extension to file your tax return and send a payment, or need to make any other application to a different financial institution, see if you can do so in late July or in early August if you find it impossible to do so in March.

If you send things in this month, Mercury will be retrograde, February 6 to 28, and you may make an error on your tax return or not take all the deductions that are due to you. Don't try to rush to do all your paperwork before February 6 - you are already in the pre-retrograde period, which is almost as bad, and later you will regret your haste.

You might be filling out papers for a property purchase or a property transfer to your name, or hoping to make a property sale, and again, you will have to double-check all the figures you put down on paper and see if your math holds up properly. The inclination will be to rush during Mercury retrograde, which is, of course, the last thing you should do.

The new moon of January 30 that occurred late last month, still strong now, lit this same part of your chart, your solar eighth house of other people's money, so your focus will be on getting your finances ship shape. That new moon, still strong through the first eleven days of February, and will focus you on taxes, credit cards, loans, commissions, royalties, insurance payouts, inheritance, prize winnings, scholarships and financial aid, and so forth. You will be motivated to look over monthly recurring charges to see if you can find ways to lower them.

I love that Uranus was beautifully angled to the new moon, suggesting you are likely to hear very sudden, sensational news about money very soon, and rather than salary, it will be about a lump of cash that will show up out of the blue. Look to the first week of February for a call or email - money is heading your way. Or, it may be that you will consider a deal that will make you good money in the future.

Money negotiations and proposed actions will be concluded within four days of Friday, February 14, before or after this date, at least for now. You may purchase something expensive or receive a valuable gift that thrills you. This is also Valentine's Day, so this day may turn out to be special for you for that reason, too. (More about love later!)

If you are thinking of giving, or accepting, a marriage proposal, Mercury's retrograde period will complicate things, February 6 to 28, so hold off until March to broach the subject, or to accept, set the date, and send deposits. Many conditions will be in flux during February, so the chances are high that you'll have to redo your decisions made this month. You won't want to lose your deposit if you book a room or caterer, for example, so be safe and wait until March.

Mars is still making his long journey thorough your fourth house of home, adding emphasis to your living situation, and also giving you extra responsibilities, possibly for an older relative. It seems you will get news about your home or family situation at the end of March or in April, but you may also start to hear news, say, if you have been trying to sell a house or lease an apartment. Venus has been retrograde throughout January, but went direct January 31. Venus rules your solar fourth house of home, so now that Venus is moving forward, you will find it so much easier and quicker to see results to domestic, property, and family plans.

Closing on a new house while Mercury is retrograde is never a good idea while Mercury is retrograde, and in fact, it is never wise to make any major decision, commitment, or announcement while during these periods either. Mercury will be retrograde from February 6 to 28, and after this month, Mercury will again retrograde from June 7 to July 1 and after that, later this year, October 4 to 26. While we are on the topic of home and Mercury retrograde, avoid buying a new flat screen TV, a computer, smart phone, or anything else electronic, for Mercury rules all electronics and the moving parts in machines. If you buy now, you may get a product that does not work well, or choose a model that is not right for your needs.

Valentine's Day, February 14, is the day for lovers in most the world, except for Brazil, where June 12 is Valentine's Day. If you are one of my readers in Brazil, you might want to celebrate a little on this weekend anyway, February 14-16, while you wait for your official day. This weekend will be mighty special, and I think you'll have lots of fun.

I like the aspects to the day for lovers this year, dear Cancer, for the Sun and Mars will be in ideal angle, suggesting you might want to have your romantic evening at home, with flowers, candlelight, and a delicious, home made meal for the two of you. Or, give a party that Friday night (February 14) - not everyone will be coupled up and have somewhere to go, so invite singles and some attached couples, too. This will be a superb evening, for Mars will make it so. For you, this weekend, home will be where the heart is found.

The full moon on Friday, February 14 will be in Leo, so you will likely want to pull out a few stops to offer some delicacies that you wouldn't normally have each day, such as caviar to go with the chilled champagne, or chocolate mousse or chocolate souffle with ripe red strawberries on the side for a decadent, delicious dessert.

The month will keep improving, and by the time you get to month's end, you will have some of the sweetest aspects of all. Mercury will go direct on February 28, and more importantly, the new moon of February 28 will arrive in Pisces, 10 degrees. This new moon may send you on an adventurous foreign trip, possibly quite far from home. Choose a place near water - this new moon is in Pisces, and you will love being near water, or, alternatively, snow, perhaps for a ski trip (or go surfing).

You may go to a foreign country, so check your passport to make sure it is up to date. Speaking of passports, if you are hoping to get one from a foreign country, or a green card or visa, this new moon February 28 will be your friend. Put in your application just AFTER it arrives. If you have to travel for work, you will come back with the order - things will go very well and you will see that you and your client will be on the same page.

I am excited that at the same time, this full moon, Jupiter, giver of gifts and luck, will be in ideal angle to the Sun and new moon, giving you extraordinary help from an authority figure, an ideal time to ask for a favor. Jupiter will toss a few surprises in your lap to show you just how wonderful life can be, and when it happens, it will be a complete surprise. This communication between the Sun and Jupiter is somewhat rare, making it the very best day of the first three months of 2014.

If you have to defend your thesis, do it in early March, when you will have many planets working for you. Legal matters shine too, and it matters not if you are in court and awaiting a verdict, or have to do something exciting to file a patent or trademark. Legal matters will bring good news in February.

If you were born on or within five days (plus or minus) of July 1, this new moon will give you even more help. Do you have Cancer rising 10 degrees, or a natal planet in Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces within five degrees of 10 degrees of those signs? You too will be thrilled with all that goes on at the end of February.

Next month you will be surrounded by planets in water sign Pisces, and you will be in your element - it's all very special.

Make sure that all financial figures you use to add to any financial application you send in, or any business plan you develop, are accurate. Mercury will retrograde in a money-oriented part of your chart from February 6 to 28, adding to the propensity for errors when you are rushed.

At month's end you may be ready to take a journey to a place that truly inspires you. Rather than visit a city you've seen frequently, you seem up for going to somewhere new and quite awe-inspiring. Spin your compass and choose a city or town you've longed to see for quite some time. If the setting is near water, splendid - with a new moon in Pisces February 28, take your journey just after this date, and you'd have an enchanting experience.

At the very same time, Jupiter, giver of gifts and luck, will be in Cancer and reach out to the Sun in Pisces, making any trip you choose to take quite heavenly and lay the groundwork for a weekend for love. This could be your memory for forever.
