Libra (September 23 - October 22)

Your September Horoscope by Susan Miller

Libra Forecast for September 2014

By Susan Miller

September starts quietly, and you will be happy for that. You can take time to think and reflect on what has transpired this year, and how you'd like to change conditions that you have some control over to make your life happier. All great actions begin with thinking through all possible options, and often it takes time to generate a full range of possibilities. It's all too easy to come up with knee jerk, automatic answers to pressing questions, and the idea is to get out of that kind of rut thinking into the realm of originality - you are certainly capable of that!

With the Sun in the twelfth house, the last house of the horoscope, you will have a yen to keep to yourself, take quiet walks through the park or in museums, and to simply enjoy your own company. This is unusual for social Libra, who generally likes to be surrounded with the comfort and joy of many friends. Sometimes it's good to do something out of character and take a moment to center and rebalance your life and your schedule. You will be able to find the quiet time you need if you look for it.

Next month will be anything but quiet, for we have two eclipses due, one in your opposite sign of Aries, October 8, found six months away from your sign, and therefore on the same axis as your sign, Libra-Aries. Aries rules your partner, whether in romance, such as your marriage partner or established lover in a serious relationship, or in business, your business collaborator, partner, agent, manager, publicist, accountant, lawyer, or other one-on-one professional who works in tandem with you on common goals. In a true partnership, what is good for one party is good for both, as each person rises or falls with the success of the venture they both contribute to with hard work. The other eclipse, October 23, will be a friendly new moon solar eclipse in your second house of earned income, and that eclipse points to a change in the way you will earn your income later this year. It's all for good. If you are self-employed, you might add a large, lucrative client to your roster.

Next month also brings Mercury retrograde, from October 4 to 25, and that is usually a time of redoing certain elements of projects to make them more polished or viable to the client. It's a time we become forgetful, however, so it's important to be extra diligent about making sure you have all your treasures with you - eyeglasses, sunglasses, smart phone, tablet, wallet, and so forth, so that you don't leave them in taxi cabs or airplane seat pockets. VIPs become indecisive, because things are changing, but at the time of the retrograde, not you or anyone else will be able to predict which way things will go. We make poor judgment calls during these periods, for if you make a choice based on current information, it's already out of date - but you don't know that yet. You would be wise to wait until the retrograde is over, at which time more information will be revealed, or else you may regret making the decision you did.

You must not buy any electronic items, appliances, machines, or anything with moving parts while Mercury is out of phase, as Mercury rules those parts. Most of us find we have to go to the repair shop with at least one household item during a retrograde. This time, Mercury will retrograde in Libra and Scorpio, so you will feel the effects more than usual.

Then too, you have two eclipses due in October, and eclipses are the most dramatic tool the universe uses to create rapid, massive change. When eclipses come by, no matter how busy you happen to be, if the eclipse falls near one of your natal planets, or your natal Sun (birthday), you must drop everything and focus on their messages and adjust to what is being said to you. The new eclipses won't be nearly as troublesome as the ones that came by earlier this year, in April. Specifically, those included the monstrous April 15 total eclipse of the moon in Libra (a full moon) and the new moon solar eclipse on April 28 in Taurus. Both were challenging, but the April 15 the most of all.

All eclipses require some adjustment, but the ones in April turned some Libra lives upside down, especially those Libras with a birthday of October 15 plus or minus five days. This time, those born near October 8 will feel the eclipse the most. The new eclipses next month will be infinitely easier to accept because both have several good, strong, supportive aspects associated with them. I will give you great detail in my report to you next month on the eclipses, but suffice to say, you need to get everything vital done now, in September, before October pays havoc with your schedule.

As you begin September, you have the full moon, September 8, in Pisces 16 degrees. This full moon is also called the annual Harvest Moon, when the farmers harvest the grand bounty of nature's gifts, and farmers see the fruits of their labors. If all goes according to plan, you will reap your harvest too, in your own way. You appear to be wrapping up an important project and this could be a project you do at work, or alternatively, it might be one for something you are doing at home. With Pluto being signaled by this full moon, you may have worked on a wall, changing it, moving it - something - or worked on your basement, as Pluto rules these parts of a house. If the project you will be thinking about is for your home, it seems you will need to send a check to cover the cost of the service you ordered, but the project will come out well, and you will be pleased.

At the full moon, you will be expending a lot of energy, so it will be important to take care of your health. Full moons in the sixth house, as you have now, often bring out a latent cold or lower your resistance, due to lack of sleep and perhaps eating at odd hours. If your doctor approves vitamins for you, and you have discussed which ones to take, make sure you have a supply in your house now.

Financially, since July 25, you have come through a period of high spending and many expenses, so you will be gratified to hear that that period is about to end. Mar is moving on to another part of your chart on September 13, and almost instantly, you will see the extreme pressure to cover ever-mounting bills to end.

You hosted Saturn in this same financial area of your chart, which in itself held down your income, as this taskmaster planet was trying to teach you to get more for your money by limiting the cash flow into your bank account. As they say, necessity is the mother of invention, so you quickly learned to make more of the money you did have, perhaps by finding bargains or diverting expensive, big ticket items for later, when you would have more money coming in. Your relationship to money changed, and Saturn hoped you would value it more.

Having Mars and Saturn in the same house is an astrological oxymoron, because Mars will always get you to spend, but Saturn will want you to show caution and negotiate the best price, find ways to shop for goods below retail, and find a way to save for the future. You see these two planets were sending mixed messages. Meanwhile, since November 2012, the Scorpio-Taurus series of eclipses that came by every five and a half months were testing your ability to find new sources of income. To say you've had a lot of emphasis on money management is an understatement. Now, with only Saturn left in that house, and a friendly eclipse due October 23, you should find dealing with money to become infinitely easier.

Mars will move into fire-sign Sagittarius on September 13 and remain in that sign until October 26. This will bring on a happy interlude for you because fire and air are naturally supportive of each other. You will be able to take trips into the countryside for fresh air and sunshine, and perhaps pack a picnic with your family or sweetheart. If you live in the north hemisphere, the autumn leaves will be changing in October, and you might want to treat yourself to a weekend in a part of the country that has particularly beautiful, colorful fall foliage - be sure to go to a wooded, country road to truly enjoy nature's splendor. If you live in the southern hemisphere, take a drive to enjoy the budding trees and first flowers of spring. I love that anticipation of all that is to come, and the very light green of the leaves, signaling that spring is ready to burst open in her fragrant beauty.

Mars in Sagittarius, starting September 13, may bring a contract for you to sign, and if so, you would be best to wait until November to sign it. If you should get papers earlier in the month (not indicated, but if you do?), then see if you can sign on your best day, September 10, when Mercury (contracts) will be in great angle to Jupiter (profits, good fortune).

You may have news regarding your sister or brother, too, this month, as Mars will put a spotlight on this relationship. If you never quite got along with your sibling, this would not be the month to bring up controversial subjects, as you would likely hit a nerve and trigger a meltdown. Mars is capable of inflaming already touchy emotions, so tread carefully.

Now let's talk about your gorgeous new moon in Libra, 1 degree, September 24. This is your exciting annual birthday new moon, just made for answering a desire deep within your heart. As is the case only at birthday time, this new moon will open the door on any part of life you choose and bring you options. Of course, you need to know precisely what you want to happen next in life, so spend time thinking about that, and take action - even a small step - on September 23 or 24. In astrology, it is so important to take your first step on the right day - you are giving birth to your venture on the day you start. To help you, I have two questions: If you were to get the phone call or email of your life (one that would make you so excited and happy), what would the person say to you? Who would have sent it? The answers to those two questions will give you a clue of what you hope to happen next.

This new moon will be extra powerful because it arrives at the critical 1 degree of a cardinal sign (Libra). This degree, and 0 degree, both are said to have the fiercely strong force of nature. Those degrees correspond to the points on the compass (north, south, east, and west) so a 1-degree Libra new moon would define future direction. Are you born with this 1-degree on September 22 or 23, or do you have Libra at 0 or 1 degree rising? You are a mover and a shaker.

If you were born within four days of September 24, you will feel this new moon the most, and will find it easiest to harness its energy. You should see real change coming in your life, and it will be change you want, not change that is foisted on you. The same is true if you have Libra rising or 1 degree (plus or minus four degrees) or a natal planet in Libra, Aquarius, or Gemini within four degrees of 0 or 1 degree - that planet will get a highly electric beam of energy too.

Now for the best news of all that I have saved for you for last! On September 25, Jupiter in Leo will receive a magnificent beam from Uranus. It's been years since we had any aspect this exciting, as Uranus and Jupiter have to be in just the right spot in space to produce this beautiful aspect of hope, optimism, and fresh starts. It is powerful enough to bring on a breakthrough.

You might try to guess what might come to you; you won't be able to conjecture. Uranus always works in a completely unexpected way, so you won't see the news coming or even be able to predict the correct source ahead of time. This is what makes this aspect so very special - it'll be a true surprise. If you were born on September 25, you will get a double dip of pleasure, for your entire birthday year will be rinsed in gold by this splendid aspect. I can tell you that a friend will play a major role in what happens, and that your partner in love or business will likely play a part too. Afterward, you will be touched by the kindness at least one person shows you on or near September 25, but that is all I can say. Open the window that day and see what flies in, dear Libra!

Summary

As soon as September opens, it will do so quietly, but nevertheless, you'll need to be organized and ready to hit the ground running. Last month was likely quite social, but September will require you to get down to business.

The full moon of September 8, also called the Harvest Moon, will bring an important project at work or at home to fullness. Neptune will be prominent at this full moon September 8, so it seems a highly creative assignment that will allow you to show off your artistic side. If the project you are getting ready to finish is not creative, check all your facts, because with Neptune's propensity to obscure information, you may have inaccuracies that will need to be fixed. Pluto will be friendly, so you may want to order a home-related repair or upgrade, and if so, it's a good time to do so.

Mars will be moving through your financial house in the first two weeks, increasing your expenses, so you may have a large check to write, such as for tuition, home improvements, or money to help support a family member who has hit a hard patch. There are many possible examples, but the point is, you may have a hard time keeping control over money, but this is a temporary situation. As soon as Mars moves into Sagittarius on September 13 until October 26, the tightness in your finances will end and you will be able to breathe again.

If you have a large purchase that you consider to be optional and can make it at any time, you might want to wait to see how your expenses shape up first, so you can space out charges on your credit card. Plan to buy it in mid-November.

Pluto will go direct on September 22, an indication that if you have been working on home-related improvements, progress will occur at much a faster clip than they have all year, and perhaps will be nearing a finish.

Be sure to pace yourself this month and don't overdo. You will enter an important phase next month when the full moon eclipse will appear on October 8. In the meantime, marshal your strength. The full moon on the Harvest Moon, September 8 suggests you will enjoy being in a setting not far from home, with nothing more important to do over the weekend of September 6-7 than to sip a cup of tea and read a fast moving, page-turner of a novel.

Early to mid-September will be a good time to daydream about what you'd like to achieve in coming months, and to envision the start of a new chapter of your life, soon to start up. Ancient astrologers always wrote about the value of taking the time to plan life, and to decide which elements of life should be enlarged, and which obligations and relationships should be ended because they are draining, or because they no longer hold the fascination that they once did for you.

If you do this kind of strategic thinking early in September, by the time the new moon arrives in Libra, September 24, you will have a list of prioritized goals. Because you will only get one new moon a year in your own sign, this is a very significant new moon, for it will help you to take the first steps on any one of your newly drawn up goals. This new moon is at 1 degree Libra, considered a VERY energetic degree, symbolizing the power of the life force. This says you have an enormous opportunity to take a first step toward your dream - what will it be, dear Libra?

Jupiter, the great good fortune planet, will be in ideal angle to Uranus on the following day - a five-star day - September 25, so you may receive amazing benefits then, thanks to the kindness of a friend. This person cares deeply for you, and will go far out of his/her way for you on or very close to this day, quite unexpectedly. This is a rare aspect, not seen since 2006, so you may want to schedule a lunch or dinner with friends, or attend a charity or humanitarian fundraiser at this time.

Go on social media too - among those who make up your community of friends, you may also get a surprise tip that proves to be a gift from heaven. The tip you receive need not come from a close friend - it may be from a casual acquaintance that will be looking out for you. Be sure to post comments on Facebook or Twitter on this golden day! If you were considering the idea of joining a prestigious social or professional real life club, send in your application this month, for you are likely to receive a bounty of benefits if you do.

Dates to Note: LIBRA

Most important dates for love, meetings, or actions: 1, 2, 6, 14, 15, 19, 20, 24, 25, and 29.

You may be able to step back, take a deep breath, and take things slow in early September, thanks to the new moon that appeared late last month. This will be a productive month, however, but just don't drive yourself so hard.

This month's full moon in Pisces may bring a major work project to fullness, and you may be working up to a finish within four days of September 8.

You will feel stronger and more alert, and find your vitality will return when the Sun moves into Libra on September 22.

A very important new moon of the year will be the one in Libra, 1 degree, a time to push forward your best ideas and launches. If your birthday falls near September 22, plus four days or minus one day, this new moon can be life changing.

Mercury will go retrograde in Scorpio and Libra from October 4 to 26, so make September count. October will also bring eclipses, the first in your opposite sign of Aries, emphasizing a close relationship, October 8 and then a new moon solar eclipse October 23.

One of the most beautiful, hopeful days of the year will be of kindness when Jupiter will send a divinely harmonious beam to Uranus. A friend may touch you with a gesture that may take your breath away.

Venus will move into Libra September 29 to October 25, so spend a little money to give yourself confidence - it is birthday month! Single or attached, it looks like love will be in the air.
