No matter what you expect birthday month to bring, it will probably bring something else. October is a month chock-full of all sorts of energies, but with a little luck, you will end the month sunny side up and looking forward to your coming year with zest. Two eclipses are due this month: first, a total eclipse of the (full) moon in the sign found 180 degrees from yours, in Aries 15 degrees on October 8, accenting your partner in love or business. The next one will be a new moon solar eclipse on October 23, in Scorpio, accenting your earned income. If you recall the April eclipses, those were very difficult. These this month will be less dramatic and more helpful.

Eclipses are the most dramatic tools that the universe uses to get our attention and to get us moving in new directions. If any part of life has become stale or dysfunctional, an eclipse will get you out of your rut so that you can find new elements to add to your life, to replace anything that was lost. Let's first look at the October 8 eclipse.

At first, I feel you will be shocked by events near October 8, because this eclipse will be conjunct the moon and oppose the Sun and your ruling planet, Venus. This is a full moon, so something may be culminating or ending, although in time something new will likely begin. Full moon eclipses are like three full moons rolled into one, so you may feel emotional or nostalgic at this time.

You seem to be thinking about your committed partner, in an established love relationship or marriage. Or, you may be thinking of a business partner or other collaborator with whom you work closely each day, such as an agent, publicist, writing partner, manager, representative, or a professional like a lawyer or doctor. Any time Uranus is conjunct the moon, it makes for a jittery, nervous response. Your domestic situation may be in flux, or your job. No matter what comes up, stay optimistic, because in a moment I will show you why. You have some stellar aspects coming up that will clearly give you an upbeat feeling. A loving universe is protecting you, so don't ever forget that.

This month will give you a lot to deal with, so it will be very important to keep your own health strong. If anything seems wrong, get medical advice immediately. That includes dental conditions - this eclipse is in Aries, ruling all that takes place in the head, including teeth, headaches, or any changes in vision. Venus will enter arm-in-arm with this solar eclipse, indicating that you will be concentrating on this chance to make money - good! Neptune will also be close enough to beam the gift of creativity. If you have the kind of job that pays you for your artistic ideas, Neptune will be your best friend, so you may be hired to create or to support talent, say, like you would as a producer, publicist, or agent.

Mercury will retrograde almost all month, from October 4 to October 26, a sign you should not move too quickly on any offer. Take your time. Mercury will start out retrograding in Scorpio but within six days slide backward into Libra, suggesting you will feel this retrograde more strongly than other signs. You will do best by going back to earlier situations, such as a project that you had put aside for lack of time, or a job you almost took, but for some reason it fell through at the last minute. You may be able to reactivate those types of situations quite successfully.

Mercury retrograde periods make us misunderstand others' communications. We become forgetful and leave our treasured items, like sunglasses or wallet, in public transportation, like an airplane, taxi, or other conveyance. You will find higher-ups are indecisive and hard to reach, so if you are due vacation time, you might as well take a few days off, for nothing earth shatteringly important will take place in October.

Be sure not to sign any contracts this month, and do not buy any expensive items, but especially not anything electronic, such as a new computer, smart phone, flat screen TV, or kitchen appliances, like a new refrigerator or washer-dryer. Hold off on buying a car or closing on a house. All these types of activities will be better done in November.

Mars will remain in Sagittarius all month, and that means you will have plenty of chances to leave town and perhaps take a drive into the countryside. If you live in the northern hemisphere, you may be able to enjoy fall foliage over an enchanting weekend with friends or your one-and-only. You have so many days that would be great for a drive! October 9 and 10 will be ideal days, when Mars and Jupiter, and the next day, the Sun and Jupiter, (respectively) will make golden contact. These dates will bode so very well for travel. If you can spare the time, keep your mini-vacation going over the weekend, October 11-12.

If you can continue to travel over Monday, October 13, even better - your ruler, Venus (the planet that just wants to have fun), will be in perfect angle to good fortune Jupiter. You may want to go with a friend, a great idea. This day shimmers so brightly that you can use it for almost any purpose, and be confident things will go your way.

If you need to meet with an authority figure, do so on October 15 when the Sun and Mars will be in sync. Although Mercury will still be retrograde, you can find accord on this day, so it would be perfect for an exploratory meeting.

When it comes to love, I feel your best weekend will be over October 18-19, when Mars and his lover Venus will flirt with each other in the evening sky. This is a rare aspect and ideal for you, as Venus will be in Libra, and Mars, in fire-sign Sagittarius. Again, travel may be the perfect anecdote to a relationship that may have become a little dull or predictable - a trip could give it the shot of excitement you need. If you can book a bed and breakfast in a particularly beautiful location, and take Monday, October 20 off too, you will be glad you did. On October 20, Mercury (travel) will be in superb angle to Jupiter.

I also like October 25-27, for on October 27, Venus, your ruler, will be in direct contact with glamorous Neptune, giving a perfect setting for romance. Although this peaks on October 27, you will feel the energy building over the prior weekend, October 25-26.

Travel as much as you can before Mars leaves Sagittarius, for once it enters Capricorn, you will want to concentrate on your home. Mars will be in Capricorn from October 25 to December 4. By October 25, Mercury will go direct, setting up a better environment for you to make choices for your home. It appears that you will be working on spiffing up your home in time for guests to come visiting at the year-end holidays. That's a great idea. You will also get another shot at fixing up your home after the December 21 new moon, extending your focus on your home or other property you may own, or to focus on one of your parents. This trend will grow and be very big by January.
