Taurus (April 20- May 20)

Your December Horoscope by Susan Miller

Taurus Forecast for December 2014

By Susan Miller

You will see a wonderful change in your life in December. For two years, since October 2012, you've hosted teacher-taskmaster Saturn as he toured Scorpio in your seventh house of close, committed partnership, a very hard place to host Saturn. Saturn teaches us life lessons that we tend to remember, but his methods are harsh but fair, and we learn quickly from Saturn, for he gives us little choice but to listen up. Saturn is a testing planet, so if your closest committed relationship was strong, you likely only encountered mild problems over the past two years. If your union was weak (perhaps unbeknownst to you), you had a much harder time.

The seventh house is considered the marriage house, and with taskmaster Saturn moving through it, you craved stability and commitment. If you wed in the past year or two, you may have had to adjust to the new routine of being married. Or, in a more extreme case, no matter how long you were married or living together, you may have had pressing problems with your spouse / steady romantic partner. If you say your personal relationship was and still is solid, you may have instead had problems with a business collaborator or partner.

There is another way you might have felt this aspect, and that would have been through a very difficult competitor who was determined to ruthlessly take away a piece of your pie. This person was out in the open, so you knew who he/she was and could see the tactics, and you were forced to defend your turf. (The twelfth house rules secret enemies, but in the seventh house, where Saturn was visiting, brings everything out in the open - this was no secret enemy.)

The type of lessons you learned might have ranged from not giving enough to your partner, to giving too much, and in the latter case, perhaps being too trusting. Of course, there are many types of lessons to learn, and by now you know what the universe wanted to teach you. Think back to where you were in October 2012 and compare that to where you are today. You can readily see you are in a new place, and you are likely now enlightened.

I mentioned that the seventh house is a tough place to host Saturn, and that is because interchanges may have become, at times, confrontational, for Saturn was directly (180 degrees) opposite your Sun. Saturn is a cold, icy planet, and the Sun is fiery hot, so this is not a natural pairing. If you did not have difficulty with a partner in love or business, nor had a competitor who had been targeting your territory to take over, you may have suffered from a health problem. Saturn was creating a very draining, strenuous influence on your constitution. Teeth and bones were particularly vulnerable. Saturn opposed to the Sun, as you had, is considered one of the hardest aspects for maintaining robust health. You are just about done with Saturn, dear Taurus, and if you did not feel well, you have reason now to expect an upturn.

Now Saturn will leave Scorpio on December 23, and you will get instant relief. By now, you may have taken action to remedy the situation you faced. You didn't feel Saturn's effects for the entire two years, but only when Saturn orbited in direct opposition to your Sun. Here are some examples: If you were born on or close to April 20, your hardest time arrived at the last three months of 2012 and first half of 2013. If your birthday falls, for example, May 5, you had the hardest time with Saturn at the end of 2013 and early 2014. If your birthday falls near May 17-19, you were dealing with Saturn lately, in the second half of 2014. Saturn spends approximately ten months with each of us as he orbits forward. Being an equal, fair planet, no one person will get more attention from Saturn than others.

The Taurus born at the very end of the sign, near April 17-19, did not get ten months of Saturn's tutoring, but only six months, so Saturn will retrograde back into Scorpio later in 2015, but only for thirteen weeks, from June 14 to September 17, 2015. After that, Saturn will leave Scorpio for many decades, not to return until 2041. (That is not a typo!) You will be done and you won't miss Saturn!

If you were born at the end of the sign, May 17-19, shore up your health, delete any bad habit that may be detrimental to your health, and be realistic about your relationship. If your alliance is important to you, do things now to make it more vibrant. If you feel you both are incompatible, face that fact, talk about this openly, and make a plan. One way or another, things are changing, and it is unlikely a bad situation will continue much longer. You have had a number of eclipses that also tested your relationship, so for some, it must as felt as through the universe was raining rocks on your head. Now, with Saturn gone, and the Scorpio-Taurus family of eclipses done, you are looking at a radically better, sweeter 2015. In fact, you have many happy years ahead.

Now let's look at December from the top, for the first week is spectacular. Your career is about to get a lot of attention, for Mars will move into your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement from December 4 to January 12. Reading this, you may be saying to yourself, how can this be possible? This is holiday time, with many top executives going away. How can I possibly be selected for a top job now?

I feel this month you will be very career oriented, and because Mars has not been in this part of your chart for two years, you will do the groundwork to get your name nominated for a new position. If you are self-employed, you can now aim for much more prestigious clients. The actual offer for the new top job will likely happen at or after the positive new moon of January 20, or at the subsequent new moon February 18. I particularly like the January 20 new moon, so aim for that one. I know you don't have control over when you would get a job offer, but once you do, schedule talks with a sense of purpose.

The full moon of December 6 is an exciting one. It will light your second house of earned income, a time when you may get a raise, or if self-employed, you may receive an impressive check from a client for work well done. This full moon will be in Gemini, 14 degrees, and will receive a beautiful vibration from generous Jupiter, the good fortune planet. Uranus will also be involved in a positive way, so for some reason you will be surprised by the money that arrives, even though it's clear that you earned it. Perhaps you will get a raise you didn't expect or receive a check that was so late in arriving, you practically gave up on ever seeing it. This full moon is in Gemini, a "double-bodied sign" (to use the expression of the ancient astrologers), so you may get two checks. Great! This will allow you to pay off bills at this time.

Before I move on to the rest of the month, I want to mention that December 4 could bring a sudden phone call or email that will invite you to a major professional interview, or, if the VIP knows your work, to ask you to get started on a prestigious project. On the same day, Venus will be in contact with Jupiter, suggesting you may get good news about a real estate situation or receive a generous check from your family. If you are shopping for home goods, you may find the perfect piece of furniture on sale! Venus is your guardian planet, so this means almost any action you take on December 4 will work in your favor.

Additionally, you may feel unusually psychic or instinctive on December 4 when your twelfth house of intuition and your eighth house of transformation will link through the Sun and Uranus. Listen to that small voice within - your intuition will not let you down.

On the following day, December 5, Mercury will be beautifully angled to Uranus, so more good news about money is likely to come in to you, and the news will be unexpected and happy. Venus will be in Sagittarius this day, which also bodes well for your finances.

Venus will move into the divine-for-Taurus sign of Capricorn from December 10 to January 3, just in time to be alluring and charismatic for holiday parties. As you shop for gifts for friends and family (do so after December 10), you may find a new outfit to wear to some of those parties. While you are thinking about your appearance, you might want to make an appointment with your hair stylist or for men, groomer at the barbershop.

December 12 will be another stunning day, when Mercury will receive shimmering beams from Jupiter. Again, this day may bring more sweet news about real estate or from family.

Over the weekend of December 13-14, news will get even better on this same topic - home, other property, or concerning your family - for Jupiter and the Sun will be in talks on your behalf. That weekend would be ideal for giving a party at home (it must be at home, not a club or restaurant). This might also be a very romantic too - be out and about.

The fact that Uranus, ruler of your tenth house of career, is going direct orbit on December 21, having been retrograde since July 22, means your career will finally kick into high gear after December 21. When a big planet prepares to go direct, for several days, the planet is what astrologers call "stationary" - that planet will hang like a lantern in the sky, not moving forward or back, as it builds the energy to go in the opposite direction. It's considered an extremely powerful time, and one you need to watch for career news - circle December 18 to 24. More will happen when planets start migrating into Aquarius at the end of January, so this is a process that will build and become more vital in weeks ahead.

Ironically, Mars will receive a missive from Uranus on December 20, giving even more oomph to your career forecast. This underscores the probability that your career will be popping at the end of December. It seems that you will be traveling when this happens, and that concerns me.

Indeed, just when your career will be creating pretty fireworks in the midnight sky, the new moon of December 21, falling on the solstice, in Capricorn, at the powerful 0 degree will create a LOT of activity. It looks very likely that you will be celebrating the year-end holidays from distant shores. If you do travel, it appears your trip will be to a foreign country or paradise island. (Gee, this sounds beautiful.) Of course you should go, but make sure you call your cell phone provider before you leave to include phone coverage in the cities you will be visiting overseas. Bring your computer and AC cord with you - and don't groan! You will need to stay in touch, as the career offer that comes in while you are away may well be the very best you've seen ever in 2014.

There are other considerations to take into account. Mercury will go retrograde next month, from January 22 to February 11, so next month career talks will proceed slowly. That is fine - it is when you open talks and plant the seed that counts more, for that is when you are giving birth to the process. If a former boss or executive you used to work with is the one who calls you, that would be lucky, as Mercury always urges us to make more of a former relationship. If you know that executive from a long time ago, apparently you had made a great impression on that VIP, so proceed confidently. Mercury retrograde would not interfere with your progress under these circumstances. On the other hand, if the relationship with this VIP is new, do not push talks forward; let nature take its own course. Delays will benefit you. Your job description will likely change as you discuss the job, so be patient.

If you are not planning any travel at month's end, the new moon's appearance signifies that you may be preparing for a return to campus to study for an advanced degree in January. This new moon will allow you to follow up on your plans quite nicely, and you will be pleased with how easily your preparations fit into place.

If you are in the communications / publishing / broadcasting business, this new moon in Capricorn, December 21, will find you very busy in the days to follow. You may issue press releases, be assigned a story to write or edit, deal with reporters, be asked to give a speech or to serve on a panel, or will be a judge of a contest. You love being busy - you'll accomplish a lot and be happy with how things turn out.

This new moon of December 21, operative through the end of the year, and will be in lovely angle to Neptune, indicating your creativity will be stimulated by all that you do in one of the areas I outlined (travel, university study, the media, or publishing / broadcasting assignments).

If your birthday falls on April 20, plus five days, you will find this new moon has an especially strong effect on you. The same is true if you have a natal planet in Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces at 0 degrees, or within a plus four-degree tolerance.

If you celebrate Christmas, do not plan to travel home on December 24, when Mercury (ruling travel) will be in sharply bad angle to Uranus, planet of unexpected developments. You will be cutting it too close to the holiday, and bad weather may ruin your chances of getting home in time. Leave early. Christmas Day will have the moon in Aquarius, so it seems many will be opening up electronics under the tree!

New Year's Eve, December 31, has the moon in Taurus, indicating you can celebrate the arrival of 2015 in any way you want, assured things will work out just the way you dreamed them to be. It's a wonderful time to celebrate all that you have coming your way, so be sure to be out and about!

Summary

This is one of the few years that we will not have Mercury retrograde during the critical holiday shopping season, so chances are, your gifts to friends and family will hit the spot. You may have shopped quite a bit in November, because by the full moon, December 6, you may send out a check to your credit card company. No reason to be concerned - all month your earning power will be very strong. If you need to sell or buy a house, condo, or co-op, you will also find closure at this full moon, December 6, and chances are, you'll like the outcome. Best of all, you may get a raise or be paid for a job you did some time ago.

Your career appears to be heating up with the appearance of Mars in Aquarius, so no matter how busy you are with the holiday, keep working on your resume and if creative, your portfolio. At the end of December through late January, your preparations will be rewarded. In the meantime, probe where you can to find suitable openings that you can aim to get for yourself. The following realms could prove lucrative and bring sensational opportunity: all the sciences and social services, technical and digital realms, humanitarian, not for profit and charity fundraising positions, and work in the media in terms of radio, television, and Internet.

After December 21, the new moon in friendly Capricorn, you will have your house of travel brimming with light and energy. You may be planning to head to an exciting, exotic location to ring in the New Year, possibly in the mountains, to ski or to simply be inspired by the view. The moon will be in Taurus on New Year's Eve, indicating a delightful celebration. Want a cityscape instead? You may be sipping champagne at the top of the Eiffel Tower for a very memorable start to 2015. Keep your cell phone and laptop with you if you do travel, for it looks like exceptional opportunity will be coming up in the last ten days of December - an unlikely time, but for you, it will be pure magic.

Alternatively you may be getting ready to go back to the university for the January semester, working on a media assignment, or being asked to judge a contest.

Saturn may have given you a hard time if you are seriously attached to a partner in love or business, ever since this taskmaster planet entered your opposite sign of Scorpio back in October 2012. If you didn't have relationship concerns, you may have suffered from a health problem during the past two years due to Saturn opposed to your Sun since October 2012.

The good news is that Saturn will leave Scorpio on December 23, 2014. This is cause for celebration! Saturn will only briefly retrograde into Scorpio for thirteen weeks, June 14 to September 17, 2015, before it returns to Sagittarius for a good long stay until December 20, 2017. It is doubtful that those short thirteen weeks from mid-June to mid-September will bring up any new relationship or health concerns. Keep your antenna up, just in case (especially if your birthday falls May 17-19). For all practical purposes, however, you are done with your cosmic tests, dear Taurus.

It's clear that by the time the year is out, you will have either fostered a major improvement in your relationship, or, alternatively, gave up and left it. Either way, as you enter 2015, you will have a fresh canvas on which to paint your dreams.

Dates to Note: TAURUS

Starting on December 4, Mars will give you the fuel to push your career to new heights. If there something in particular you wish to strive for in that area of your life, now is the time to go after it. This influence will be with you until January 12, 2015.

The full moon in Gemini, on December 6, will bring news about money. You may get a raise or receive a large check from a client for work well done.

Starting December 10, Venus will tour Capricorn until January 3, 2015. Shop for new things and improve your appearance. Venus will make any trip you're planning special.

The new moon in Capricorn on December 21 will likely set you off to foreign shores to ring in the New Year. However, your career will be cranking up, so bring your computer along, and have your cell phone powered up. The last ten days of December represent a powerful time in 2014 for professional advancement, so you won't want to be out of touch.

Saturn will leave Scorpio on December 23, ending relationship woes in love or in business, and also may bring reason for hope in regard to a current health concern.
