The major career news is that the teacher-taskmaster planet Saturn will leave Scorpio this month and enter Sagittarius on December 23. While Saturn honed your communication talents while in your third house, your ability to write, edit, or do public speaking (or, all three) evolved beautifully. Although you may have assumed that over the years you would reach a plateau where you would not evolve any farther, you saw firsthand that if sharpening your skills was important to you, the lovely part about life is that we can always grow and improve, no matter what our age.
If you feel you didn't apply yourself to this area and are feeling bummed out about missed opportunity, the door will open one more time before Saturn says adieu, not to be back to your third house of communication until November 2041. (Yes, 2041, that is not a typo.) That last-chance opportunity will come June 14 until September 17, 2015, when Saturn will retrograde back into Scorpio.
This coming mid-year phase would be an ideal time to take a course in creative writing, screenwriting, or a class to perfect your grammar. (To Virgo, perfecting grammar in written work is practically a sport. My best magazine editors, by far, were all Virgos, although I have a superb editor now at Elle [print ? US] who is on the opposite end of the Virgo axis, for he is a Pisces. I love his edit - my work reads just as it did when it left my computer, with a little tightening and a little added sparkle wielded from his magic wand. I bet he has the moon in Virgo.)
From now on, and continuing for the lion's share of the coming three years (the only exception being the dates I just mentioned above, June 14 to September 17, 2015), you will be focused on your home. Once Saturn is done with its retrograde on September 17, 2015, Saturn will not leave Sagittarius until November 2017. When a big planet enters of the four "angles" of the chart - the first, fourth, seventh, or tenth houses - it is considered a powerful time. For you, Saturn will be at the very foundation of your chart, the fourth house.
You will start to see the effects of Saturn here fairly soon. You may decide to get serious about owning real estate, in terms of a house, condo, or co-op. Saturn often requires sacrifice and concentration on a goal, so you may have to give up such treats as frequent dining out or ordering up take-out food.
(Eating in may be okay with you, as Virgo likes to eat lightly to soothe your delicate digestive system, and you always insist on meals with high nutrition. I just read a statistic that was a bit scary - when any of us eat out, we eat an average of 200 more calories than we would have consumed at home, and this was true with every meal. I bet that number is on the low side, considering how much excess butter, oil, and cream is added to the average restaurant dish.)
Yes, it is true that Saturn will make you work toward your goal, but the rewards that Saturn brings are ones that last for decades, if not forever. The new moon last month in Sagittarius, November 22, plus two weeks, may have started you thinking about home ownership. If you already own your home, you might undergo a renovation now to make it more beautiful and to increase its value.
I recently had my entire apartment painted, and my Greek painter, Theo, pointed out that the contractors who built this skyscraper I live in had cut costs in ways most people would not immediately notice. For example, he told me I had silly doors. I was in shock. Silly doors? He told me, "What will your guests think of you, with your silly doors?" What could Theo possibly mean? Theo knocked on the door, and showed me that the interior doors were hollow and cheap. He said, "You need to replace the doors." I went online to find out how much it would cost to replace each door in my apartment, seven in all, including doors for each room and for closets, bathroom doors, and so forth.
Theo showed me where to look - he said I needed solid pine doors (raw unpainted wood) and that they were sold in home improvement "big box" stores. I was surprised that they were not too expensive, only about $109 each. They all had the little rectangle indentions that you see in classic interior doors. My "silly doors" were flat (no indentions) and looked ugly by comparison. My old doors didn't "click" impressively when shut in the way the solid pine doors could do. Theo volunteered to pick up the doors by putting them in his little truck, "to save you delivery costs." (He was so nice!) I knew I would never again have this kind of help to change my doors in my apartment. Sometimes you just have to act - quickly - even though this project was the last thing I thought I would have been doing this past summer, in the middle of a paint job!
Theo called in a door expert he knew to make sure each door would fit properly to the doorframe, for each door would need a little individual sawing to resize the door. Then Theo painted each door glossy white. (Most of my house is matte snow white, except my bedroom, a very pale periwinkle blue.) I had already bought crystal doorknobs a few years ago that I had been using on my "silly doors" and those fit perfectly into each of my new, more substantial doors.
All this was going on when I was so very sick, locked in my bedroom, door closed, with a home care nurse putting rubbing alcohol on my back to reduce my fever, to change my sheets, give me fresh nightgowns, and cook up a little soup for me to sip. (I had booked Theo a year ago because his methodical style puts him in big demand.) When it came time to paint, I was already quite sick but I figured, I had better do this!
Meanwhile, my assistant, George, was in the living room with a clipboard supervising the three helpers who were packing up my things in cardboard boxes with bubble wrap. It was a three-ring circus, but if you hire the right people, I know I could throw caution to the wind and trust all will turn out right. When it came time to paint my bedroom, I moved into the guest room. The paint we were using is the new technology paint that has no scent. The best part of painting is giving away things to make more room, and to organize things nicely. I always have all closets painted, even the big walk-in closets, for that is where you will find things you no longer need and can give away. Later, I asked my helpers to pack up those things to bring to charity.
Now that the project is over, all I do is look at my new doors. I open and shut them because I enjoy hearing the "click" when they shut, and I show my new doors to every friend who visits me. I can't get over how much of an improvement these doors made to my apartment. Theo was right! Friends say the doors make my home look even more inviting and "homey" than it did before. Who would have guessed? My point in telling you this is that sometimes you can make a big change at low cost that will leave you smiling afterward, for a very long time!
If you plan to buy a house, try to anticipate your future lifestyle to be sure you don't have problems paying your mortgage. As said, Saturn often asks for sacrifice, but you don't want that sacrifice to be too hard to make. If you can save up to put down a good down payment, you will pay less with each subsequent month. Saturn often asks you do something major to stabilize your life, so this would "fit" if it is your first property purchase. Become knowledgeable about mortgages by talking with your banker or financial advisor, by reading articles, and by perhaps talking with your family. If you already own your home, you may decide to invest in a vacation home.
An alternative way Saturn in the fourth house may work out is that you may be the one in the best position in your family to oversee the care of your aging mother or father. As I learned with caring for Little Mom, as she got older, there are many things to learn. I was fortunate in that my sister took over almost all of the day-to-day supervision, but we conferred on all big decisions. We did hire a lady, Ana, to live with Little Mom during Mom's last six years, to help with shopping, cooking, and so forth.
We lost Little Mom in September 2012, but what I learned is that care of an older person is a realm and subculture all of its own, and we all need to pick up skills and resources that we never needed before. (That is so very "Saturn.") The process matures you and makes you very wise, very quickly, because you have no other choice but to come up to speed with all that has to be done. My sister and I adored Little Mom, so we did all we could to make her later years fun and loving. One day, with no warning, she passed. We have no regrets, but we do miss her terribly.
Now let's turn to the start of the month, which will be packed with good news.
The full moon December 6 in Gemini 14 degrees, will bring evidence that when it comes to your career progress, your star is on the rise. That full moon will brilliantly light your tenth house of fame and honors. You may hear that you were awarded the prestigious job you had interviewed for and wanted so badly, or that you are offered a plum promotion that you never expected. This full moon will be in perfect harmony with Uranus, so news will come suddenly. Money has concerned you, for income has been gyrating, but in the first week of December, it appears money will come to you, and may be generous.
Two days prior to the full moon, December 4, money outside of salary may find its way to your bank account. You may be sent a commission, bonus, licensing fee, cash from a contest, venture capital, or a very attractive mortgage, refinancing plan, or home improvement loan from a bank, as a few examples.
December 5 could be a stellar day, when your ruler, Mercury will receive a golden beam from Uranus, turning you into a brilliant idea person. If you are writing an important document this month or taping anything on film, you will outdo yourself.
Another day, December 12, will also be incredibly special - even more so than December 5 - because Mercury will receive a "trine" (the most harmonious beam possible) from Jupiter, giver of gifts and luck. News will be spectacular and will again center on your ability to communicate in an articulate, creative way.
Over December 13-14, you will be luckier than a leprechaun when it comes to home related-activity. Over this weekend, browse new property, make a bid on a house or sell one, find an apartment to rent, or speak to your bank about a mortgage or refinancing plan. On this day, December 14, the Sun and Jupiter will give you the element of outstanding luck with any home-related plan you may be plotting. This is also a wonderful weekend to go shopping for new furniture or other things for the home. You will likely love what you find.
You may be stunned by a check you receive on December 20, when Mars (by then in your house of work) will signal Uranus in your house of other people's money. It's a grand day for finances, so keep your antenna up!
All though December, you will have lot of work to do at the office, due to the tour of Mars in your sixth house of tasks, from December 4 to January 12. It is possible that the tasks I see you doing will be ones you have to do for your personal life, but either way, you seem to have a list and check things off as you go along. If this is for work, you will be well compensated.
If you plan to travel on December 24, see if you can leave a day or two earlier. Mercury, ruling Virgo AND travel, will be in very hard angle to unpredictable Uranus. You are likely to be delayed in an airport or on the road or rail due to bad weather. Mercury also rules speech, so be careful about what you say to family, a friend, or lover - someone is likely to be on edge and have a complete meltdown if they construe your comment to be insulting. On December 24, try to avoid talking about a controversial subject and you'll be fine.
Here is the news you've been waiting to hear! Your love life will be on FIRE in late month, just in time for a happy holiday! The new moon, December 21, will fall in Capricorn 0 degrees, in your fifth house of true love. This new moon will bring along the Sun, Pluto, Venus, and Mercury - that's half the solar system - and will make sure romance will be all you dream it to be. If you are single, you must circulate, for your chances of meeting someone new have never been better. If you are attached, you will have plenty to celebrate this holiday season. No matter what your marital status, you will have fun in late December. Parties will proliferate, and some may get engaged or married for Christmas or New Year's.
If you are attached and hope to conceive, the powerful emphasis on your fifth house may make that dream a reality.
