Taurus Horoscope for March 2016

By Susan Miller

This month will be a turning point of the year, for it holds two eclipses, a new moon solar eclipse in Pisces on March 8 and a full moon lunar eclipse in Libra on March 23. Typically, a year will hold four eclipses, and this year is true to form. The next and final two of 2016 will take place September 1 and 16. Although the eclipses this year will not fall in Taurus, you nevertheless will feel them, and I will show you how here. This month's eclipses are generally milder than ones you've had in the past, and you appear to be in the right place and position to benefit from both.

Eclipses change our priorities and timetables by moving events forward at rapid speed. They also bring with a floodlight of truth that they shine on various situations. If you were hesitant to make a final decision about an important friendship over the past weeks or months, either you will make that choice now, or the eclipse will do it for you. Think of eclipses as a new or full moon on steroids - you can multiply their effect times three - they are that powerful.

The first eclipse, a solar new moon eclipse, will fall March 8 in 19 degrees Pisces and light your eleventh house of friendship. This is also a part of the chart that acts as a repository of hopes and wishes. A new moon opens an entirely new path of opportunity. This eclipse will partner with good fortune Jupiter in your fifth house of love and fun and set your social life ablaze. With a crown of twinkling stars filling your eleventh house, this darling solar eclipse will spell more fun for you. Certainly, you will socialize more than usual.

I would be remiss if I didn't suggest a friend may be eclipsed from your life, as sometimes that happens. Your friend may move away or move on in a different direction from you, and suddenly you will have less in common. It is possible you won't see eye-to-eye on a matter, and hence, a falling out may occur, but this seems not nearly as likely. This eclipse seems filled with sugar and spice.

You may now join an important, possibly exclusive, club or professional organization. Or, you may join a humanitarian or charitable effort to make a difference in a cause dear to you. Or, you might volunteer after work for a political candidate that you believe in, to help get your candidate into office. Groups will be fortunate for you, and even if you say you are not one to join groups, take a second look. Solar eclipses bring a fresh new element to the equation, with benefits you may not have considered.

What is sweet about this eclipse is that it is in the flexible, communicative sign of Pisces, which is a water sign that blends beautifully with your Taurus earth Sun sign. Pluto will be very helpful, suggesting that someone highly placed in the courts, government, academia, or the media (in publishing or broadcasting) will be fortunate for you now. It's also possible you will travel a far distance this month as a result of the eclipse.

If your birthday falls on May 9, plus or minus four days (the closer the better) or have Taurus rising, you will feel, and benefit from, the eclipse. The same is true if you have a natal plant in Taurus, Virgo, or Capricorn, at or near 19 degrees. If you have a natal planet in Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces, you too will benefit if the degree of your natal planet is in one of these signs within four degrees of 19 degrees.

Mercury rules your fifth house of true love, and this month, Mercury will be very active. Watch these dates for positive progress: March 10, 15, 16 (already mentioned due to Pluto's contact to Jupiter), 24, and 29. Difficult days may be March 14 when Mercury will be at odds with Saturn, and March 30. When penning days to your calendar, add one more day for love: March 2, when Venus will play tag with Uranus, and March 20, also sweet as sugar, when Venus will link to inspirational Neptune.

Meanwhile, Mars will move into Sagittarius on March 5, to remain nearly seven months, until September 27. This is unusual, for Mars is a highly energetic planet, and remains in a sign six or seven weeks, not the impending seven months. This highly caffeinated planet will certainly make his presence known. The reason Mars is remaining so long in your financial sector is that on April 17, Mars will retrograde until June 29 and then go forward. Because Mars is the action planet, when he languishes, you won't have his powerful help to launch important projects, so throughout the coming months you will have to supply the extra bolt of energy that normally Mars would have supplied to you. Mars helps us in all competitive situations, but if you find yourself in one, be prepared to work extra hard to see your project to success.

For part of the time, from May 27 to August 2, Mars will slide back into Scorpio. The rest of the time Mars will light your house of funds you hold with a partner or entity (such as a loan you received from a bank). This will put enormous focus on not only funds you have, want to apply for (such as in terms of a loan or financial aid), or money you owe, it also rules money you share with your partner, in love or business. If you are discussing a divorce settlement, things may get unpleasant and aggressive. If you don't get things settled this month, it may take a very long time to reach an answer - possibly not until the last week of September or in October later this year. Alternatively, instead of discussing the division of property, you may find yourself in a sticky situation involving an inheritance or money you owe to a bank, to a credit card company, or for a tax payment. Guard against identity theft. Your expenses may be high with money about to drain out of your account, but this may be because you are in the process of a lifestyle change, which usually comes along with high costs.

The month's second eclipse, March 23 in Libra 3 degrees, will light your sixth house of health and fitness, along with your work projects. The sixth house also rules, aside from your day-to-day assignments, your co-workers and subordinates, and the equipment, computers, software, and tools that you use to get your job done. The sixth house also covers the physical space you work in. It does not cover promotions, publicity, and honors you get - that's the provenance of the tenth house of fame, which the ancient astrologers called the house of dignity. If you change jobs at the time your sixth house is emphasized, it means you are making a lateral move and will do much the same work you did before. You won't see progress, but that might be fine with you, if, for example, you have other responsibilities, such as for small children or other major obligations that would make taking on a bigger title a hardship for you.

The way this is likely to play out is in one of the following ways: If you have had a health concern, you may see a reason to attend to it quickly, rather than let it go. For example, I have a friend who needs hip surgery, but it never seems the right time to put herself in the hospital and get it done. She is a Taurus. The March 23 eclipse may show her that she need not suffer from the aches all the time - doctors know how to help her and afterward, with physical therapy, she will be like new. She doesn't like not being able to take long walks. She's a busy girl and needs to keep moving. The sixth house rules physical health of all kinds, including dental health.

Another way this might work out is that this eclipse may draw attention to how out of shape you feel and you may suddenly feel motivated to go to the gym to get toned. This is a great idea. Start slowly and don't overdo. By time it's swimsuit season, you will be the envy of your friends.

In terms of work, you may get a vital new assignment. I use the word "vital" because events that happen at eclipse time are very important and often predictive of what is to come later. The same is true of news that you receive - eclipses are often major turning points.

Or, you may lose your trusted assistant when he says he is moving on. I understand how devastating that can be. This gives me no pleasure to report this. Sooner or later, this happens to all of us, and it always happens at the busiest of times when you have no time to interview new recruits, let alone train someone. Ah, yes, as my mother would say, looking at me with her beautiful big blueberry eyes, and so soulful and sympathetic, "Sometimes things like that happen." She didn't say more, nor would she need to say more - it just is a part of life. You will find a new helper, I promise. If that doesn't happen, if you work for others, you may be given a new computer or new software to learn, or the company may go through a big move to new headquarters. Or, you may lose or win a new client, or change jobs yourself, to take on a job similar to the one you had, but with a boss you like better. You get the idea. I haven't thought of every possible manifestation of the March 23 eclipse, but these are some to get you thinking.

On or near March 5, don't be tempted to loan money to a friend or to spend too much on a social event, such as on a destination wedding of a friend, as one example. Saturn will be in hard angle to the Sun, and you may find yourself spending more than you want, and regretting it.

Now let's look at other days of the month that may prove to be important to you. On March 2, Venus and Uranus will be beautifully angled, suggesting it will be a gold-star day for your career. You may score a victory or get enviable publicity.

My favorite day of the month for you will be March 16, when Pluto and Jupiter, in rare aspect, trade signals, and link your fifth house of love and your ninth house of travel. What a wonderful week to take an awe-inspiring trip with the person you love. This would be an ideal time to go to any location that requires a passport for entry. The fifth house is also the repository of your creativity, so you may launch an idea on this day that will bring you a handsome profit.

Venus will be in Pisces from March 12 to April 5, your very best time to circulate to find love. Spend a bit of money on yourself, go shopping for new things, and generally find ways to improve your looks.

Romantically, when your ruler, Venus combines forces with Neptune, March 20, you will have a dream of an evening to celebrate the love you have for someone to whom you are seriously attached, or to enjoy a date with someone fairly new to you. If you are single, your best way to meet new people this month will be through the introduction of a friend, or by mixing and mingling at a club you belong to now.

Summary

Last month required you to focus strongly on your career, but March will allow you to socialize to your heart's content. Take a deep breath, dear Taurus, for with Uranus, the planetary ruler of your house of prestigious career progress, and Saturn, the planet that nudges you to think long term, in sync this month, so you won't lose any ground by taking your eyes off the road. You can still find time to have career interviews and make presentations between your extraordinary amount of socializing you seem almost guaranteed to do this month.

You have a powerful new moon solar eclipse, March 8, and the new moon indicates that enormous change and opportunity is about to come your way to zest your personal life. Life will change for the better by making new friendships and bonding closer to your long-term friends. Glamorous Neptune and news-oriented Mercury, the latter planet also the ruler of your house of true love, will be squeezed with the Sun and new moon eclipse in your eleventh house ruling friendships, groups, and your humanitarian efforts. Thanks to the eclipses that will continue to visit this house until February 26, 2017, the spotlight will now shift away from your career to this enjoyable, social area of your life. Indeed, your area of greatest personal growth during the coming two years will be through widening your contacts and strengthening interrelationships. Many new faces will begin to pour into your life, and when they do, decide which individuals you'll like to cultivate to know better.

The month's second eclipse will be a full moon lunar eclipse, March 23. At this point a project dearly important to you that you worked on behind closed doors may now finish. A secret may surface, but it might be yours, so be careful to keep a lid on things.

Romantically, you could not choose a better time to be on a romantic vacation than in the days surrounding March 16, the date that Jupiter and Pluto will be in rare conversation. It does not matter if you are single and looking for love, or married a long time - travel will excite your love life at this time and also make it grow. Jupiter and Pluto are both financial planets, so you may be in a "let's splurge" mood. Look at hotel one-week packages that might be perfect for you. It appears you'll be heading overseas, so get your passport in place early in the month.

If you can't take time off, March 20 will be a divine time to carve out time to be with your one-and-only perhaps for a long drive into the country. Venus, your ruler, will cuddle up to Neptune, both in Pisces, a magically romantic aspect, and the icing on the cake will be the transiting moon in Virgo - echoing the sign on the cusp of your fifth house of true love. It's hard to imagine a day more enchanting day than this.

A long theme in 2016 will arise centering on money management, due to the long tour of Mars to Sagittarius, to enter your house of money March 6 and remain there until September 27. Mars will be retrograde for a large part of that time, starting in April, and even when Mars moves direct, he will be moving slowly. This is so that you can have all the time you need to review your financial picture with your advisor, and to make needed corrections when necessary.
