The 2026 NBA offseason continues to get wilder. In a stunning trade that has a
 chance to upset the balance of the Eastern Conference, the Boston Celtics hav
e traded Jaylen Brown to the Philadelphia 76ers for Paul George, two first-rou
nd picks, and two second-round picks. Shams Charania reported the news on Wedn
esday evening.

The trade comes after widespread speculation and reports that the team was sho
pping Brown, despite his not asking for a trade. Brown now goes to a 76ers tea
m that pulled off an upset victory over the Celtics in the playoffs. As the sh
ock of the trade wears off, here are the trade grades for this transaction.

Boston Celtics: F+

There's no other way to describe how shocking and horrible a trade this is. Br
ad Stevens and the Boston Celtics' front office agreed to trade away the 2024
Finals MVP that led the team to the second seed in the East, despite Jayson Ta
tum recovering from his ruptured right Achilles tendon that he suffered in the
 2025 playoffs. Many in the NBA community wrote off the Boston Celtics after T
atum suffered his injury, predicting they would be a play-in team or, worse, f
ail to make the playoffs.

But Brown raised his level of play and kept the Celtics in the conversation fo
r contention until Tatum ultimately returned in the weeks prior to the end of
the season. And while the 76ers did emerge victorious over the Celtics in thei
r seven-game series, Jaylen Brown stepped up to the mantle. He averaged 25.7 p
oints per game, 3.3 assists, 5.7 rebounds, 1.1 blocks, and shot 45% from the f
ield and 40% from three in the seven-game series against the 76ers.

In Game 7 against the Sixers, he scored 33 points, grabbed nine rebounds, hand
ed out four assists, and blocked three shots, while hitting three three-pointe
rs. While he was an inefficient 12-of-27 from the field, he certainly stepped
up to the occasion and kept the Celtics in the game before the 76ers ultimatel
y pulled away with the victory. Even in his last game in a Celtics jersey, Bro
wn gave his all to the team.

So why would the Celtics trade a player who clearly has the potential to be a
1A-level talent to a team that is their division rival who just beat them in t
he first round? This trade appears to be a massive bet on Jayson Tatum returni
ng to form post-injury, as well as a bet that more moves could be made by the
Celtics to make up for losing a dynamic wing talent like Brown. But for right
now, it looks like a horrible trade because it appears that they salary-dumped
 a five-time NBA All-Star and an All-NBA talent who is still in the prime of h
is career and doesn't turn 30 until the start of the new season.

Philadelphia 76ers: A+

There's no other way to describe this trade except as a massive win for the Ph
iladelphia 76ers. You acquired a star-level talent in Brown for Paul George an
d some picks, upgrading yourself at the forward position while still retaining
 Joel Embiid, V. J. Edgecombe, and Tyrese Maxey. You also weaken a perennial c
ontender in the Celtics, who will have to make major roster moves to remain a
contender in an Eastern Conference that is sure to get even tougher next seaso
n.

The Sixers have had to deal with major injury misfortune over the past few sea
sons, specifically with Joel Embiid. The 2023 NBA MVP consistently raised the
floor of the team when he was able to suit up. He ultimately played only 38 ga
mes in the 2025-2026 season and was out for the first three games of the team'
s series against the Celtics, returning in Game 4, where he had a massive impa
ct that ultimately led to the team's upset victory.

Brown proved with the Celtics that he can lift the floor of the team with his
level of play, so he serves as an injury insurance policy of sorts. Brown has
showcased throughout his career that he can be durable. Last season, he played
 71 games for the Celtics and averaged 28.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 5.1 assists,
 and one steal while shooting 47.7% from the field.

While the 76ers aren't favorites to win the championship, they should certainl
y be seen as one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference, and potentially
the NBA. And when it's all said and done, Philadelphia might emerge as the ult
imate winner of NBA free agency as they fortified themselves as a contender in
 the present, and potentially for the next half-decade, assuming Brown continu
es his high level of play.

很難用其他詞來形容這筆交易的震撼與糟糕程度。

Brad Stevens 與賽爾提克管理層竟然決定送走這位 2024 年 NBA 總決賽 MVP。在 Jayso
n Tatum 因 2025 年季後賽右腳阿基里斯腱斷裂而仍在復健期間，Brown 一直是帶領球隊
取得東區第二種子的重要功臣。


當 Tatum 受傷後，許多 NBA 人士都認為賽爾提克將失去競爭力，甚至預測他們可能只能
打附加賽，甚至無緣季後賽。

然而，Brown 提升了自己的表現，持續帶領球隊維持競爭力，直到 Tatum 在例行賽尾聲
前幾週回歸。雖然最後賽爾提克仍在七戰四勝系列賽中敗給 76 人，但 Brown 的表現依
然無可挑剔。


對戰 76 人的七場系列賽中，他場均繳出：

* 25.7 分
* 5.7 籃板
* 3.3 助攻
* 1.1 阻攻
* 投籃命中率 45%
* 三分球命中率 40%

第七戰中，他更攻下：

* 33 分
* 9 籃板
* 4 助攻
* 3 阻攻
* 命中 3 記三分球

雖然全場 27 投僅 12 中，效率不算理想，但他依然在關鍵戰役挺身而出，一度幫助賽爾
提克緊咬比分，直到最後仍不敵 76 人遭到淘汰。即使那成了他身穿賽爾提克球衣的最後
一場比賽，他依舊傾盡全力。


因此令人不解的是，賽爾提克為何要把一位明顯具備球隊第一核心等級實力的球員，交易
給剛剛在季後賽淘汰自己的同分區死敵？

這筆交易看起來像是賽爾提克豪賭 Jayson Tatum 能夠在重傷後完全恢復巔峰狀態，同時
也賭球隊未來還會有其他補強操作，來填補失去 Brown 這位全能側翼所造成的空缺。

但就目前而言，這筆交易看起來非常糟糕。因為他們幾乎像是在「清薪資」一般送走了一
位仍處於生涯巔峰的五屆 NBA 全明星、年度最佳陣容等級球員，而 Brown 要到新球季開
始才將滿 30 歲。




費城 76 人：A+

對於費城來說，這無疑是一場巨大的勝利。

他們僅用 Paul George 加上幾個選秀權，就換來了明星級球員 Jaylen Brown，成功升級
了鋒線實力，同時仍保有：

* Joel Embiid
* V. J. Edgecombe
* Tyrese Maxey

此外，他們也順勢削弱了長年東區強權賽爾提克，迫使對方未來必須進一步調整陣容，才
能繼續維持競爭力。

近幾個球季，76 人始終飽受傷病困擾，其中最主要的就是 Joel Embiid。

這位 2023 年 NBA MVP 每當健康出賽時，都能大幅提升球隊戰力。然而，在 2025-26 球
季，他僅出賽 38 場比賽，並且缺席了對賽爾提克系列賽的前三場。

直到第四戰回歸後，他立刻展現巨大影響力，最終帶領球隊完成以下剋上的勝利。

Brown 在賽爾提克已證明自己具備單獨撐起球隊的能力，因此某種程度上也成為 Embiid
的「傷病保險」。


此外，Brown 一向以耐戰著稱。

上個球季，他為賽爾提克出賽 71 場，場均繳出：

* 28.7 分
* 6.9 籃板
* 5.1 助攻
* 1.0 抄截
* 投籃命中率 47.7%

雖然目前 76 人還不能被視為總冠軍最大熱門，但毫無疑問，他們已經是東區、甚至整個
 NBA 最強球隊之一。

等到塵埃落定之後，費城很可能會成為本次 NBA 自由市場與休賽季最大的贏家。因為他
們不僅立即提升了爭冠實力，也有望在未來五年持續保持競爭力——前提是 Jaylen Brow
n 能夠延續目前的高水準表現。
