Cancer Forecast for April 2014

Here we are at April, a month that might become a major turning point for you. As a cardinal sign (those include Aries, Libra, Cancer, and Capricorn) you have been feeling the heat from clashing planets for some time. These planets want you to find new solutions to long-term concerns, for you will soon see, especially this month, that the old formulas that seemed to work in the past are useless now. Conditions have changed. The eclipse that you need to watch closely is the total eclipse of the full moon, a lunar eclipse in Libra, April 15. The other one, a solar eclipse in Taurus, April 28/29 (depending on your time zone), will not have as strong an effect on you. To fully understand what is going on, let's start at the top of the month and proceed forward.
As you begin April, you will have just come though the appearance of the new moon (not an eclipse) on March 30 in Aries 10 degrees. That one lit your tenth house of career status and awards, and will bring shakeups there. You may see a top manager leave, or the whole top echelon may announce shifts, perhaps through company reorganization. Or, it may be that your company is about to merge with another company or issue a set of dictates that you never saw coming. No doubt about it, at work, it's surprise-a-minute, with each day bringing news. Whatever occurs, it is the start of a trend, not one that will happen and be over. New moons can set up a trend for six months or more.
That new moon of March 30 arrived in your tenth house of career reputation and status, arm-in-arm with Uranus, the planet of unpredictable events. The moon is Cancer's ruling planet, and will feel the powerful jarring influence of Uranus, as the new moon (and Sun) will be shoulder-to-shoulder with Uranus, as if on the head of a pin. A new moon is a powerful nodal point of the month, so we always have to take a new moon seriously because it opens a new path.
It is also just as possible that in early April you will get a surprise offer from another company that will allow you to interview for a very prestigious spot. If so, the offer will come out of left field. As you see, news may be good or not so good, and I will have no way to predict which way things will go. With Uranus involved, the news is never what you would guess it will be - it is always something else, something you are not looking at. If you are self-employed, you may be upset to see a big client leave, but you may also be able to reel another one in. No matter what occurs this month, you'll have to expect to have a period of adjustment, but you will have the time to build your strategy. Go slowly.
Uranus has been having a long-term feud with Pluto, and this month, Uranus and Pluto will be within one degree of a 90-degree square, posing an obstacle. This suggests you may have fierce competition for a new position, with many applicants going after the same job with a vengeance. If you are self-employed, your chief competitor will be positively ruthless about going after a portion of your territory.
When Pluto is good, he is very, very good (your benefactor!), but when Pluto is bad, he can be horrid. You will have to be ready to counter any competition that comes up, or anyone in your company who hopes to discount the contribution you've made. Jupiter will be in hard angle to the new moon too, but Jupiter will not bring affliction - he is Santa Claus, so you may have to spend more money than you estimated this month (possibly to fight fire with fire on the job front), but Jupiter will never hurt you. He is pure goodness in your chart, and this month he is still in Cancer, acting as a bodyguard. This is why I am telling you to fight any unfairness or obstacle you face in April, for you have a secret advantage in Jupiter. He is the giver of gifts and luck, your supreme benefactor.
As I mentioned, the news that comes up in your career will be quite unusual - possibly even a bit strange or weird - so you will need to stay on your toes. Get your resume ready and line up references, should you suddenly need them. With Uranus, news could be very, very good! We just don't know!
A recent survey from Career Builders reported that 62 percent of the references that people list on their applications spoke negatively to the inquiring employer about the applicant. A total of 69 percent of the employers who called a person's list of references reported that they changed their mind about hiring the applicant. That's huge, so you need to be very careful when you give references. You need to have an impressive friend posing as an employer calling your references first to make sure you list only past employers that you can trust. Also, before listing a reference, talk with the person and get his or her permission. Make sure all the people on your list realized the full scope of the responsibilities you covered in the past and appreciate the depth of your talents.
Just as you are getting a grip on the surprises in your career, a major total eclipse of the moon in Libra, 25 degrees, will occur and light your solar fourth house of home and family. You will need to brace for changes there or in other property you may own. You may find out you need to move, discover a roommate is about to move out unexpectedly, or learn that one of your parents will need your quick assistance.
This is a full moon, so something concerning home is about to end or culminate. Mars will oppose Mercury, so whatever comes up will be quite jarring. Your partner, if you have one, in marriage or business, won't be any help, and may even add more stress to the situation. If you are selling or buying a house, I would suggest that you choose a closing date far from April 15 because last minute glitches may surface and unnerve you, and may even cancel or delay the sale.
Because the moon rules Cancer, you are always more sensitive to a full moon, and even more so to a total lunar eclipse (which is actually a full moon on steroids). We have two eclipses this month, but this the one, April 15, is the one to watch. The moon refers to mother, aunt, or other important female in your family, or to someone you think of as a mother. Keep an eye on the women of your family. With planets Pluto, Uranus, Mars, and Jupiter squaring off in a cross pattern, all in cardinal signs (Capricorn, Aries, Libra, and Cancer, respectively), the energy will seek an exit, but finding none will turn internal, into the chart, and will not rest until you enact a change or respond to one that the eclipse will foist on you.
If your birthday falls on July 17, plus or minus five days, you will be in the path of the eclipse's area of influence, so you will feel it more than most. The same is true if you have Cancer rising 25 degrees, or have a natal planet at 25 degrees Aries or Libra, Cancer, or Capricorn, and in any case, plus or minus five degrees.
The tug of war between all that is happening at home and in your career will reach a feverish pitch on April 23, when Mars opposes Uranus, a day filled with additional tension. People will be on edge. Your boss will not be interested in hearing your explanation of why you need to make the things going on at home have to take priority. Clearly, your attention WILL have to be at home, but your boss, being under her own pressures, won't be entirely sympathetic. This is not usual, and it only adds to the problems of April.
Just the opposite, Uranus and Mars will continue to battle for dominance April 22-23, emphasizing the need to keep attending to work and home. Mars and Pluto will also be at one another at the same time, April 23 - everyone around you may seem so unstable that you may conclude that you are the only sane person in the room. You might be. The planets will be on a rampage all month, but you can get through this. Give yourself breaks, and don't over pack your schedule.
The second eclipse will arrive on April 28/29 as a solar new moon eclipse in Taurus, 9 degrees, an earth sign that does well with your water-sign element, dear Cancer. New moon eclipses are also very powerful, and this one may open a door to a bigger social life. This eclipse will be easier for you. This eclipse will help you enlarge your circle of new acquaintances, some of whom you'll want to know better, so you may find that you are arranging dinners, parties, and other events with friends.
Still, it is also possible that this solar eclipse will "eclipse out? a male friend. Perhaps a friend is getting married or moving away, or is taking a new job, very different from the one he had before, and now you have few things in common. You know you can keep in touch, but clearly, things have changed, and your friend will have a different lifestyle from now on. This is life, but be happy in knowing new people will be pouring into your life too, and you will be excited by the friendships you form.
If your birthday falls on June 30, or within five days of this date, you will benefit most from the April 28/29 eclipse. The same is true if you have Cancer rising at 9 degrees, or a natal planet in Cancer, Pisces, Virgo, or Capricorn at 9 degrees, plus or minus five degrees.
Life's pressures still be at play, but this eclipse may put needed social diversion into your schedule, and perhaps provide some comfort from friends against the pressures you will feel.
If you can travel this month, do, for on April 17, Venus will receive brilliant vibrations from Jupiter. The long weekend of April 17 to 20 will be divine to unwind and to decide what your next step will be.
Your other great day for travel will be April 29 when Mercury, the travel planet, will also be in touch with Jupiter in Cancer - this will make it a grand day to travel for work, to hand in a report or manuscript, or to have a meeting with your designer about your website or app. You do have a lot going on.
Eclipses have several missions - to test the strength of links, to teach us to be resourceful as things shift suddenly, to provide truth that we had not seen so we can protect ourselves, and to shake us out of our routines and feelings of complacency. Eclipses work against the status quo, and demand progress. You will get it this month, ready or not.
Summary
As the month begins, a lot of commotion appears to be going on in your career. Management may be changing as fast as a blink of the eye, and in the first week, you may not know which end is up. A reshuffling in upper and middle management seems to be afoot and affecting everyone. If management is not changing, personnel or clients may come and go. All this will greatly surprise you, for no one could have anticipated all that you see happening now. You will do best to observe, but not make any final decisions, for soon lots more news will be on the way, in one of the more active and challenging months of the year. This all comes as a result of the new moon March 30, still to exert a strong influence during the first ten days of April.
Unexpected news regarding your home, other property or a parent may reach you near the full moon lunar eclipse, April 15.Your home may need important repairs, or your landlord will announce he sold the building where you live and that you'll have to move soon. Your parents, now retired, may suddenly announce they will sell your childhood home and move to a warm climate. Or, you may decide to move house to take advantage of an attractive career opportunity. These are examples of nearly endless possibilities, but you get the idea. Eclipses push us forward, whether we are ready or not.
The next eclipse, a new moon solar eclipse in Taurus on April 28/29, will focus your attention on a friend and a special social event. Your friend may be getting married, or announce he and his partner are expecting having a baby, for example, making you mindful of the passage of time. This eclipse may bring up the question as to whether your friendship will stay the same. This event, although happy, may make you sentimental when you think about days gone by and the fun you had together.
At the same time this is going on in your life, Mars, from your house of family, will oppose Uranus in your house of career, and this will happen a week prior to the April 28/29 eclipse. Demands from both areas will be strong and at times, jarring and distracting. Still, you seem to be able to cope well and find ways to actually find a path forward that you like.
At the same time as the eclipse, one day later, April 29, Mercury and Jupiter will align, and bring a lovely message from a friend - possibly the same one, or another - and it will warm your heart. Travel, near or far, will glitter too. It's a great day to travel, to send in any written work, or to give a talk, for either will be applauded and may bring financial benefits to you, too.
Earlier, a gorgeous day for travel will be April 17, when Venus aligns with Jupiter. Take a long weekend off if you can, April 17 through 20, and enjoy being in a new settling. It will do you a world of good.

Cancer Dates to Note
Most Romantic Dates: The only good day would be April 17, when travel may heighten romance.
One bright spot: Venus will be in highly compatible Pisces from April 5 to May 2, a great time to give your looks and wardrobe an upgrade.
The first few days of April may find you edgy at work. On April 2, management may make a surprise announcement that seems to come out of the blue.
On the following day, April 3, VIPs appear to be obstinate and not interested in hearing new ideas. Do not push.
Your home or family will likely need your full attention within days of full moon lunar eclipse April 15. It is a monster - this eclipse is not friendly, so brace for news. Mars is retrograde in your home sector until May 19, so any solution will likely take a little time to work out.
One special day is April 17, when Venus in Pisces it will send a kiss to Jupiter - this will be a wonderful time to travel.
On or near April 23, the pressures between home and family are likely to be at odds, so keep your calendar flexible.
The new moon solar eclipse of April 28-29 in Taurus will bring in new friends.
In coming weeks, plan to be socializing more with friends and new acquaintances.
A message or a meeting with a good friend on April 29 could be very uplifting. Travel will be lovely, and it's a good time to hand in a written document or to do public speaking.
