A Note from Susan Miller
september 2018
Dear Reader,
I have exciting news! I will do personal chart readings in the garden of the Four Seasons Hotel in Los Angeles from September 7 through 14, 2018. I live in New York City and have been traveling to LA almost every month for several years. I have always stayed at this particular Four Seasons Hotel because it is my favorite – I call it my little piece of heaven. When I stay there, I feel like I’m home.
I love the meditation by Deepak Chopra that’s on the TV in my room, for it starts my day in a soothing, calm way. The Four Seasons’ Spa is exceptionally beautiful. I am a fan of their sensuous facials and massages.

Your Horoscope by Susan Miller
As you enter September, you may be feeling happy and full of energy. July and August were quite intense, but you got through them with your usual good spirit and sense of dedication to those who depend on you.
It was eclipse season, and when eclipses come by, they usually come two at a time, two weeks apart as super-powerful new and full moons on steroids. We had a whopping three eclipses, each two weeks apart, on July 12 (Cancer), July 27 (Aquarius), and August 11 (Leo). That’s a lot of news, and for most, a lot of adjustments to make. If you are typical, the past weeks likely felt like an exhausting workout.
Why three eclipses in a row spanning July and August? We get three eclipses in a row whenever eclipses are changing from one family of signs to another, like now. For two years, the eclipses have been falling every six months in Leo and Aquarius, but they are now starting to move to Cancer and Capricorn. (Both Capricorn and Cancer are on the same axis, 180 degrees apart, so they are linked together.) There will be no more eclipses in 2018. The next one will occur January 5 in Capricorn in 2019.
You already experienced one eclipse in Cancer on July 12 this year, and it was a friendly one. It is possible to feel an eclipse one month to the day earlier, such as on June 12, or one month to the day later, which would be August 12, and in all cases, plus or minus five days. All eclipses bring a measure of unexpected, sudden news, even the ones that bring exciting, good news. You will only feel an eclipse if it touches the mathematical degrees of your natal Sun, moon, rising sign degree or a certain natal planet in your chart, plus or minus five degrees.
As you enter September, you may be feeling more confident than you have felt in a long time. You have just come through a luminous, radiant full moon of August 26 that lit your ninth house of travel, so perhaps you took a few days off to go to a beautiful setting near water. If you did, that certainly was a wonderful time to go. You’ve been working very hard and needed a break.
Mars, the ruler of your tenth house of fame and honors, was retrograde since June 26 and went direct on August 27. Whew! That was a long time to wait for the energy planet, Mars, to wake up and start helping you in professional matters. He won’t work up to 100 percent power until October 8, but you don’t need Mars to be at full power to enjoy the difference of a powerful forward orbit. He is starting to move faster in September, and by mid-month you should already see progress in your career matters. If you feel your career has not been moving ahead quickly enough to satisfy you, the turn of Mars direct will help you enormously.
The new moon on September 9 in Virgo 17 degrees will be warm and supportive and help you travel out of town for short distances. You may be traveling to see clients face to face to develop business, or you may be going away on weekends for pleasure. Your brothers and sisters are covered by the same third house that will be so lit up for you, so you may be driving to see one of your siblings. If so, your timing is perfect.
If you are asked to sign a contract, you can do it, assuming your lawyer has looked over the paperwork and made any needed changes. Mercury was retrograde from July 25 to August 18, so by now, in September, Mercury is at full power. You are free to sign papers and can expect a great result. The same window of time would be right for launching an app or sending in your manuscript for publication.
At the full moon on September 24 in Aries two degrees, your career will be blazing with activity. Mars, which rules both Aries and your prestigious tenth house of fame and honors, will be beautifully supportive to that full moon.
If you want to launch a communications-oriented plan, do it this month, within days of September 9. Next month, October, has many crosscurrents, and you won’t have the support that you get this month.
You may start your advertising campaign, publicity, or social media campaign. If you are about to print new stationary, either for business or your personal life or are designing a new logo, this is a great month to go to press. (Do so after September 9.) If you want to redesign your website, start a blog, or introduce your app on the market, again, do it this month, soon after the new moon.
This new moon has two lovely aspects associated with it, making it a five-star new moon of the year. Jupiter will be in perfect trine to the Sun and new moon, and Jupiter is in your fifth house, governing true love, creativity, and time with children. The new moon can help you find a new romantic interest or nurture the love you have already found years ago with your present partner. This same position of Jupiter will help you conceive a child or further your creativity – either or both would be especially encouraged during the week of September 9-16.
What makes this new moon of September 9 so extraordinary for you, dear Cancer, is that Pluto will also be in ideal angle to the Sun and new moon. Pluto will be in an aspect called a sextile, indicating that a superb opportunity is bubbling up in your partnership seventh house, which also rules commitment, marriage, and serious business collaborations and partnerships. Pluto is about to turn direct at month’s end, so if you are hoping to get engaged, are getting married, or if you are signing a business agent, publicist, or any other professional, your timing is right.
Simultaneous to the new moon, you will have a golden triangle appear in the night sky, linking Mercury, in your communication and contractual house, Uranus, in your eleventh house of friends and clubs that you belong to for a specific purpose, and Saturn, in your seventh house of partnership. This suggests you may take a trip or hold a celebratory party – possibly an engagement party, a wedding, an anniversary party, a baby shower, or other event – and invite many close friends. Siblings would play a major role, as would your steady partner or spouse. With Uranus smiling, there will be some sweet surprises from friends, too. Traveling to see a friend would also work out exceptionally well.
The best days of the month, and among the finest of the year, will occur on September 10 and 11. These are days that deserve five gold stars. Jupiter and Pluto will trine each other, which is an astrological signature of success. Pluto will take the goodness of Jupiter and multiply it enormously. These days will be especially brilliant for setting in place financial matters.
Also, Jupiter will receive shimmering vibrations from the Sun on September 11, making it a lovely day for romance, especially if you find you need to travel that day to a nearby town. This same day is extra bright for matters dealing with pregnancy and the care of children. Your creativity will shine, and it’s an ideal day to make a presentation or give an interview. (For that, September 10 will also be special.)
If you would like to find a property, such as a house or apartment to rent or buy, make improvements to your space, or add a handsome new piece of furniture, you’ll hit a lucky day for all home-related actions on September 27, when the Sun sends golden beams to Mars. If you need a mortgage or home improvement loan, ask, for on this day you will engender the help you need.
At the full moon on September 24 in Aries two degrees, your career will be blazing with activity. Mars, which rules both Aries and your prestigious tenth house of fame and honors, will be beautifully supportive to that full moon.
This suggests that you may see money or a company benefit at this full moon. Or, it may mean you are accepting a new position and will agree on the salary and any side income or benefits, like commission, bonus, special fees or royalties, health insurance, flex time, the ability to work at home one day a week, and so forth. If you are self-employed, you may now bring in a lucrative, prestigious new client that will become a star on your lapel.
There is a possible drawback to this full moon. Saturn will be in very hard 90-degree angle to both the Sun in Libra and the full moon in Aries. You may feel pulled between obligations of work and home, which will be strenuous for you on both ends. Additionally, you may feel the salary and other compensation is too low for the amount of work you will be expected to do.
It may be that your spouse, steady date, job broker, or other person that is very close to you will raise the question concerning the job offer: Can you handle all this? Only you can decide. I started Astrology Zone at the hardest time – Saturn was conjunct my Sun. That is considered the worst time, but for me it was the best time. I have loved every moment, even though hard work was part and parcel of the opportunity. I suspect you are just like me in that regard.
Romantically, Venus will tour Scorpio from September 9 to January 7, 2019, a special place for Venus to be. This is an unusually long time for Venus to stay in one sign; more typically Venus will only tour a sign for one month. The reason is that Venus will go retrograde from October 5 to November 16. (As luck would have it, Mercury will go retrograde from November 16 to December 6.) Venus rules your home, so if you have any plans you can enact in September instead of in October or November, do so.
I know how you feel – more retrogrades! This year, 2018, was meant for retracing steps, examining how things were going, and fixing what was broken. The universe is speaking very clearly about that. Venus, Mars, and Mercury are the three planets that orbit closest to earth, and those are the ones we feel the most when weak and out of phase. We feel all the planets when retrograde, of course, but these three planets, which travel fastest, are the ones we feel the most.
Hands down, your most fantastic day for romance will be September 11, when Jupiter and the Sun trade signals. This day is as rare as emeralds, so be sure to use it for a first date, or to have dinner with the one you love.
If you are attached and have had a problem that never seemed to get settled, you have new reason for hope. Both Saturn and Pluto are in your seventh house of partnerships and will go direct this month after months of being retrograde. Saturn turns direct on September 6, and Pluto will turn direct on September 30.
September is a good strong month. Be as productive as you can be, knowing October and November will require more redoes and looking back through the rear-view mirror. The positive side of this is that once we reach December 6, we will be done with all the hard work of 2018. Venus and Mars will not retrograde in 2019.
This will be the first year we can all shop for holiday gifts after we get to December 6, confident that we will be able to find the right gifts to delight friends and family. In 2016, Mercury, the planet that rules shopping and electronic items, went retrograde December 19, 2016, to January 8, 2017. That was no fun.
Last year was a worse shopping nightmare, with Mercury retrograde December 3 to December 22, 2017. That meant we all had to buy gift certificates or risk high returns. (The exception was if you shopped in November. I bet some people did and avoided Mercury retrograde altogether.) This year, the holidays will be much calmer and more fun, for we can shop for three weeks without fear that the gift will be either all wrong or out of stock. Retailers will like the change, too.
SUMMARY
You seem eager to travel, so before the season changes and you start to devote yourself fully to work, you will have a chance to break free and travel to a nearby mountainous, thickly wooded region, perhaps near a lake, stream, or bubbling brook (thanks to watery Neptune sitting opposite the new moon in Virgo) during the weekend of September 8-9.
Your partner has been under unusual strain lately, and as a result, so have you. Traveling together could offer both of you a needed respite. Choosing a natural setting will allow you to breathe, relax, and strengthen your bonds together. Judging by how fast life has been spinning around you, going away on or after September 9 will allow you to view your partner with fresh eyes and an open heart.
June-born Cancers have been under the most pressure from teacher Saturn in 2018, so life may have become a series of arduous tasks with little time for fun. The new moon of September 9 could change all that and bring in needed reasons to kick back, laugh, and enjoy your relationship.
If you plan to go back to college in September, make a key decision for the coming semester just after the new moon, September 9, and arrangements should crystallize easily. Alternatively, if you are preparing an important written document, you will be ready to hand it in near September’s end.
You may be asked to sign a contract at the new moon, September 9, and if so, you will easily be able to find accord with the other party. Have your lawyer take a look, and if all is in order, you can sign. Mercury and Mars are no longer retrograde, so with those planets strong it would be an ideal time to put your name on the dotted line. Also, if you like, you can launch an advertising or publicity campaign for yourself, your business, or your employer.
Any venture you enter into that is profit-oriented is likely to do well, if you begin it during September 10-11, and with Jupiter working closely with Pluto on September 11, the sky’s the limit. These days are some of the best in the year.
Your career will become a major focus at the full moon, September 24, in Aries. You’ve come through many obstacles, and finally you are beginning to see the fruits of your labors. Mars will boost all your efforts, and those should result in a better title, increased sales, and extra money for you.
If you take on a promotion or new position, the work will be strenuous with long hours, but it will be satisfying too, for the work will bring you into new territory that few have experienced before. You have never been one to shy away from hard work, and you will work toward something you will be proud to say you accomplished.
You’ve been spending quite a bit of money lately, dear Cancer. You got relief from high expenses from August 13 onward, and that period will continue until September 10. Alas, Mars will be back to Aquarius (the planet that drives up costs) from September 10 until November 15. You might be in the process of an important lifestyle change, and that would explain the higher than usual spending. Mars will increase your motivation for finding new sources too, and you may be successful in finding them this month if you look.
Avoid September 18 for doing anything of vital importance, for Mars will clash with Uranus, planet of unexpected developments. This is a hot day, when tempers will flair and everyone you speak to will seem fragile. You experienced it May 16, August 1, and now, September 18. Ever since Mars started arguing with Uranus, the world has seen violent, huge fires, earthquakes, volcanoes, and other natural disasters. As soon as we get a little bit away from September 18 (say, ten days), you won’t see so many disasters.
On September 18, Mars will be in your credit and loan eighth house, and Uranus will be in your social eleventh house. Be careful if you are participating in a friend’s destination wedding, for example – you may go into debt afterwards. Friends and money won’t mix well mid-month.
September 11 and 12 will be outstanding, romantic days (as well as stunning days for deals that will likely yield high profits), when Jupiter and the Sun will be in conversation on your behalf, directing goodness so that you can find true love. Additionally, Jupiter, the giver of gifts and luck, went retrograde on March 8 and turned direct last July 10. By now, September, Jupiter will have had time to ramp up to full strength and is in a fine position to help love along. You should now find your love life easier to manage and with more opportunity, particularly if you’re single and hoping to find lasting love.
If you are attached and want to marry, or at the very least to grow closer, the shift of Saturn from retrograde to direct on September 6 will allow you to set plans, confident pieces of your puzzle will fall into place. Pluto turns direct on September 30and will add more support. For your most romantic date, it’s September 10-11.
