“I don’t know why people are so surprised that he’s hitting,” said Cora befo
re the Red Sox took on the Pittsburgh Pirates at LECOM Park. “When he was healt
hy in ‘23, the first half of the season, he was one of the best hitters in the
big leagues. He got banged up, we kind of covered it for a while there with inje
ctions (for his shoulder), tough rehab, tough season, then the big surgery (in
October 2024) with five anchors in there.

「我不曉得為什麼大家對他現在能打出好表現這麼驚訝，」Cora在紅襪隊於LECOM Park對戰
匹茲堡海盜隊的比賽開打前說道。「當他在2023年上半賽季保持健康時，他是整個大聯盟最
好的打者之一。他後來受了傷，我們有一段時間用注射治療他的肩膀來勉強撐著，復健很辛
苦、整個賽季也很艱難，然後在2024年10月接受了大型手術，在肩膀裡面放了五個錨釘。」

“So for him to bounce back toward the end of the season last year was impressiv
e. And the offseason was a regular one.”

「所以他能在去年球季後半段反彈回來真的很令人印象深刻。而且這個休賽季也算是一次正
常的休賽季。」

Asked how the Sox would utilize him in 2026, Cora responded: “We’re about to f
ind out, right? When you hit in this league, you always ifnd ways to play those
guys. The cool thing is that we’ve got good players here and it’s up to me to
make it work. And we will make it work.”



The problem is, for now, Yoshida is third on the team’s DH depth chart behind J
arren Duran and Roman Anthony, who will job-share at DH and left field. On paper
, that doesn’t leave a lot of opportunities for Yoshida.

問題是，目前吉田在紅襪的指定打擊深度排第三，在Jarren Duran和Roman Anthony之後；
這兩人將輪流分擔指定打擊和左外野的位置。紙面上看，吉田並沒有太多機會。

But if he keeps hitting like he has in the WBC, he could force the Red
Sox’ hand.

但如果吉田能像在經典賽那樣持續火熱，他可能會迫使紅襪隊重新做出安排。

 “I’m the one playing him against lefties and he rakes against lefties in the
WBC, so....” noted Cora with a chuckle.

「其實我是想讓他對左投上場的，而他在WBC面對左投打得非常好，所以嘛……」Cora笑著
說
