Dear readers,

I feel we all live in our heads so much of the time that when we are faced with a circumstance that forces us to acknowledge that we really do have a body to care for, it sometimes comes as a bit of shock. I suppose if you are an athlete and reading this, you are laughing at me. It’s true, as an astrologer and a writer, I spend most of my days thinking.

When I was wheeled to the outside of the operating room on the morning of June 12, wearing the special blue paper surgical gown and shower cap to cover my hair, it occurred to me that some things in life have to be faced straightforwardly, and gone through by ourselves without help. I feel these experiences make us stronger and also more compassionate of others.

Yet, then I thought about how lucky I was – so many of you, dear readers, said you would send a prayer for me when I posted on Twitter and Facebook that I was about to have an operation. You responded so warmly, far beyond my expectations, and it made my heart swell. Thank you so much.

This month will ask you to focus on your personal life. Late last month, on the full moon, June 27, you started to think deeply about your living quarters. With Saturn there, a place this teacher-taskmaster planet entered on December 23, 2017, to stay until December 2020, your space might be starting to feel a bit too tight.

Finding a new space might seem like an extreme measure, and one that you might feel overwhelmed to even think about right now. There are a variety of topics that may have come up aside from moving – talks could have centered on the idea of investing in a vacation home, for example, or the idea of renovating your kitchen or bath. Or, you may be trying to help a parent in a more substantial way, as our parents come under the domain of the fourth house, too. Whatever happened, you are opening a discussion that will take time to sort out, and likely continue into 2019. As you begin July, you might be thinking about what you decided at that full moon that came by last month on June 27.

All kinds of lifestyle changes involve spending money. The good news for you in 2018 is that you are likely to find a lucrative pipeline to cash very soon. If you are sitting there reading this, I can hear you say, “Actually this has not been the best year for money. I need more!” Jupiter has been retrograde since March 8, 2018 but will turn direct now on July 10. You will start to feel the sunny effects of Jupiter, the planet of good fortune, growth, and financial expansion, slightly earlier than June 10, as soon as July 5.

July 5 will be the best day of the month. Jupiter is now in your earned income sector and will signal the Sun in your tenth house of prestigious career developments. July 5would be a sterling day to have a job interview, to make a presentation, or to begin a big project that will launch in September. I expect you will be very excited by how well things go on this day, for not only will the position you are talking about or entering be exciting, but the compensation is likely be generous, too.

This is eclipse season, and the first one will arrive as solar eclipse, a new moon, in Cancer at 21 degrees, on July 12. This eclipse will light your tenth house of fame and honors. A solar eclipse usually opens a new opportunities, so you may hear of an offer quite quickly after this eclipse appear. A new moon eclipse has a very long tail, and will set up a trend that can last a long time, from six to twelve months. So much depends on what you do this month, to show the universe your intent, for I feel you would likely hear about a job opportunity you would be right for almost immediately.

I should mention that some eclipses deliver news one month to the day earlier (15 percent) – that would have been June 12 – or one month to the day later (10 percent,) bringing you to August 12. In all cases, allow a tolerance of plus or minus five days.

The month’s second eclipse will be a lunar full moon eclipse in Aquarius 5 degrees and light your fifth house of true love. This signals another change, and so you might meet someone new if you are single and hoping for love, or it may regard a child you have now, or a pregnancy that might come up unexpectedly. If you are dating, you may have to decide how things are going and where you want the relationship to go in the future. This is an emotional eclipse because it is a full moon, so something is coming to culmination.

The one planet that will make this eclipse difficult is Uranus, newly in your financial eighth house, ruling other people’s money, such as credit cards and loans, venture capital, inheritance, mortgage, taxes, child support, and alimony but not salary. A divorce settlement and other such money would come under the eighth house, as would funds you share with another person such as a roommate, spouse, or you with the person you are dating.

Uranus will be in hard angle to the Sun and moon, suggesting money will be a bone of contention. There are so many possible applications, so I will toss out only a few to get you thinking. You may feel you are paying for too many things in this relationship and that your partner should contribute more. Or, it may be that a student loan or other financial obligation is crushing you, and making you edgy and out of sorts. The Sun rules your friends, so alternatively, an event involving a friend could prove to be quite expensive. Don’t loan money to a lover or a friend, as you might never see that money repaid. What comes up concerning money will come out of left field, completely unexpected, and will not be news that you expect.

The eighth house where Uranus is based also rules surgery, so it’s possible that your doctor will say you need to take care of a certain condition immediately. In this case, you likely have health insurance to cover the cost. If you don’t, you will make a payment plan with your doctor or hospital, but you do need to buy health insurance and protect all your finances (not only by getting health insurance) because Uranus is about to stay in this financial part of your chart until 2026.

Your solar eighth house (the sector that rules surgery and other people’s money) is ruled by Venus, and Venus is your guardian planet always. Thankfully, Venus will be well positioned to Pluto, indicating that if you brainstorm, you can find a good solution to take care of the sudden news that this eclipse is likely to bring up. Jupiter’s turn direct on July 10, to stay in strong orbit until April 2019, will help too, for more money seems to be flowing your way through your creative ideas and savvy approach to work projects.

The full moon lunar eclipse of July 27 in Aquarius 5 degrees will appear in your fifth house, and Aquarius rules that house for you. You may have to make a decision about the person you are dating, or tweak a creative project. Don’t pressure yourself to make a quick decision, but rather listen carefully to what is being said to you. You have time. Here is why.

Mars is currently in your fifth house of love touring Aquarius but is currently retrograde. Mars is the planet of energy and enthusiasm and entered Aquarius on May 16, to stay until November 16. This is a very long time for such an assertive planet like Mars to remain in any one part of your chart, for it is more typical of Mars to stay only six or seven weeks, not six months, The reason Mars is remaining so long In your house of true love is that Mars went retrograde last month on June 25 and will remain retrograde until August 27.

With Mars going back and forth, you may change your mind about what you want to do about a love relationship or a pregnancy, so that’s why I say, don’t rush a decision.

Mars will be in hard angle to Uranus within two tiny degrees at eclipse time, indicating that a love situation or your care for a child will need your attention. This house also rules your creative efforts too, so a project may require more time, money, and effort from you to fix things. Fortunately, Aquarius is a sign that blends perfectly with Libra. Mars will ask you to look back and see if you can find patterns in your approach to relationships that you might like to change or improve.

If you are married, you are NOT subject to any of what I am saying about a love relationship. The seventh house, not the fifth house, covers your spouse, and the latter is where all the action will be focused this month. Children, however, do fall under the domain of the fifth house, so you may be thinking about a pregnancy or changes in how you will care best for your child.

Any planet that goes retrograde will ask you NOT to move forward until you have done the necessary backtracking to examine how things have been going, to see if you have to tweak or revamp your approach.

This month, Mars’ brother, Mercury, will also go retrograde from July 25 to August 19, so with both planets retrograde, it’s a sure bet that life will slow down considerably. This won’t only be true for you, but for everybody. You should not sign contracts when Mercury is retrograde, nor launch any new projects just yet. If you need to buy an electronic item, do so in the first week of July to avoid Mercury retrograde July 25 to August 19.

You might enjoy one part of Mercury retrograde this time because Mercury will retrograde in Leo in your eleventh house of friendship. This suggests that you will run into one or two friends from the past who you will be excited to see, and you will enjoy catching up.

When a planet that orbits close to earth retrogrades, we feel the effect of that planet much more than when one of the outer planets goes retrograde. The planets that orbit closest to earth include Mercury, Mars, and Venus, the ones you feel very strongly when retrograde. Two out of the three of those will be retrograde now, so you see how slowly things will move. There is nothing you can do to speed the pace, so be content to take your time. You must make your biggest, most important initiations in September, not now.

I will mention that Venus, your ruler, will go retrograde October 5 to November 16, and then Mercury will start to retrograde again November 16 to December 6. If you want to change your appearance, do it in September – by this I mean a radical change in your hair, or for men to shave off their beard (or grow one), or ask your dentist to put veneers on your teeth. Avoid Botox or face lifts in October-November, and I am not enthusiastic about doing that or any other radical change to your face now in July or August either. I do want to make it clear that you can do normal grooming now, but not to institute radical change. We are all in the same boat on this trend!

July 25 is not a good day to discuss money with anyone – not your spouse, not your banker, not your venture capitalist, not even your insurance broker or tax accountant. The Sun and Uranus will be at odds, and that can only mean more untoward news and higher expenses.

It sounds like you could use a weekend out of town. I have the ideal one for you, July 21-22, when Venus and Jupiter will be in heavenly conversation on your behalf. You are ruled by Venus so when Venus is in a happy place, you are too.

As you enter July, you may be thinking about your home life, not your career. The full moon of June 27 of last month came conjunct Saturn, putting you in a serious, thoughtful mood. Last month you may have been concerned about the health of your mother or father.

At the same time, Saturn was opposed to the transiting Sun, and you may also be focused on a male too – possibly your father, boss, husband, or good male friend – who is also going through a tough patch and who will also need your attention. Luckily, if you need funds to cure all or part of the problem, sudden news of cash coming in will arrive at the perfect time, just when you need it.

Now as you enter July, you have a stellar day, July 5, when the Sun and Jupiter will collaborate to help you find more money. It’s an exceptional, four-star day that you should use for any career or business purpose.

On July 12, a solar new moon eclipse in Cancer will brilliantly light your house of career. Eclipses are known to create change and offer a flood of new information, as well as unexpected opportunity. You may get a surprise offer for a job that would give you considerable responsibility, authority, and opportunity to make a creative contribution.

Before deciding whether to take the new job, you might have to take into account your family’s needs and your responsibilities to them. That new moon eclipse will receive a direct opposition from domineering Pluto, so a family member or a person connected to your home (such as your landlord) will likely be bossy and aggressive to you, creating tension. You will have enough positive stars to unlock this quagmire and be hailed as a hero.

This is not an easy decision because the career position being offered apparently has quite stellar points, and it seems to have captured your imagination. Neptune will be beautifully oriented to this solar eclipse of July 12, so you would be able to make a strong creative contribution to all the projects you work on at your new position, especially if you are artistically inclined.

Jupiter’s perfect attitude to that full moon indicates a generous salary will be dangled at you, too, and furthermore, Uranus’ position also brings likelihood that perks offered would be valuable. Any offer you get will certainly have its stellar points, so take the needs of family into consideration and decide. I feel you will like this offer very much, despite the difficulties of juggling home and family needs while you work on your new position.

Later in the month brings a lunar full moon eclipse July 27 in Aquarius, bringing on a decision about the person you are dating – to stay and commit more fully to each other, or to go it alone. This eclipse will not affect those who are seriously committed or married – the house this eclipse falls rules new love, in the dating sense.

Money and love won’t mix, so if your sweetheart asks for a loan, don’t cave in and write a check, for you are not likely to see that money repaid.

Also, don’t be persuaded into starting a close relationship before you are ready. Ask to meet your new date’s friends and family to see a more rounded view of your new sweetheart before you get deeply involved. Until Mars normalizes his orbit on August 27, what you see now in a person may not be what you get later.

If you are married, this same part of the chart rules children, so you may discuss a pregnancy, in terms of whether to add a baby to your family. If you have children, you may think about how to best care for that child, perhaps by getting special lessons to develop a talent, as only one of many possibilities. If you are creative, this eclipse may bring a finish to an important project that you have been working on for months.

This area of your chart, your fifth house, ruling love, pregnancy, children, and creative expression, will be unusually and strongly emphasized for most of the year, for Mars is currently making an unusually long visit to your fifth house. Mars typically remains six or seven weeks, but this year will tour your fifth house for six months, until November 15.

Mars is remaining a long time in Aquarius because Mars will orbit direct, then retrograde, then retrace his steps back, and finally, create his last chapter forward in Aquarius from August 27 to November 15. The last period that Mars tours Aquarius, from early September through mid-November, will be your best.

During July through August, you may change your mind several times about a lover, plans to care for a child, or how you will structure a creative project. You are fortunate that Mars in Aquarius blends beautifully with your sign of Libra and that you will have such magical chances for love and fun from September through mid-November.

In the meantime you will learn a great deal about matters of the heart, and at the same time, learn about the depth of dedication it takes to make a creative project shine and be award-worthy.
