This will be a very exciting month, for so many of the points in your chart are being touched.

It looks like you might have flown away for the holidays, for the glorious full moon of January 1-2, 12 degrees, will shine in your ninth house of travel. It appears you’ll be returning home during days of the full moon. All full moons have an area of influence of four days after they appear, so you might be staying a few extra days and enjoying the change of scene.

If you say you couldn’t travel, it might be because you work in the media business and are finishing up a manuscript or producing a segment that is important to you. This particular full moon is as sweet as sugar, and is perfectly compatible with your Scorpio sign. Jupiter will be in a gorgeous position toward that full moon, indicating you will love the outcome of your work and how events play out.

This full moon forms a glittering golden triangle in the night sky, with the full moon receiving encouragement from Jupiter and Mars, both in Scorpio, indicating you are starting the year on a very optimistic note.

Having Mars in your sign all month, until January 26, will put you in the lead and coax you to act courageously and confidently. Neptune, in your fifth house of true love, will bring enormous happiness. You may be taking in an art exhibit, or attending a concert or Broadway play. Or, you may be excited that you are going to have a baby or having fun with children you have in your family now. This could also turn out to be a romantic time for you. Looking at this from all sides, it doesn’t get better than this!

Next, let’s turn to a string of days that seem to have your name on each one of them, each one bringing you opportunity for progress and happiness.

On Saturday, January 6, Jupiter, planet of gifts and luck, will align with your ruling planet, Mars, and bring you an outstanding, rare day that will be special in every way. Use January 6, or the day prior to it, Friday, January 5, for any endeavor in your professional or private life where you’d like to have a special edge of luck to further a dream. Every two years, we have an alignment of these two planets, but each time they meet, they meet in a different sign. To show you how rare this moment will be for you, the last time Jupiter and Mars met in Scorpio, it was August 8, 1982, and the next time they will in Scorpio it will be November 24, 2053. Use these two days to your full advantage.

Here are some ideas of how you can make Jupiter and Mars work for you. Use January 5 or January 6 to forge a financial deal, to launch a new product or service, to sign a contract, to have a first date, to treat yourself to something new and luxurious, to travel to a distant city – you get the idea. These days are designed to help you stand out and be successful and also to have fun. The actions you take on one of these two days are likely to bring you the results you want.

On Monday, January 8, the Sun and Jupiter will be in perfect alignment, and you can reach accord on a very lucrative deal. Use this day to make a presentation that dazzles your audience, for on this day, your ability to communicate will be strong. Give a speech, start work on an app or new piece of software, or place a new project on the market. Begin an advertising or publicity campaign, or hand in a manuscript or screenplay. The key point to remember is that VIPs will favor you, and your ability to make money will be strong. Venus will be in sync with Jupiter too on this magnificent day. If you need to make a short trip to see a client, this is your day.

The following day, January 9, Venus, Mars, and Jupiter will be in sync, making it an exciting day, for your charm will be at an all-time high. The transiting moon will cooperate too by gliding in Scorpio. You can use this day for fun or business and come out a winner. Have a romantic date with the one you love (or someone new), sign a contract, or have an interview or an audition. At night, treat yourself to a spa treatment. As you see, you have an entire string of days that are outstanding for you.

Next we have the new moon January 16, in Capricorn 27 degrees. This is an extraordinary new moon because the new moon will come with an entire entourage of planets, including the Sun, Venus, Mercury, Saturn, and Pluto. When you include the new moon, that’s six heavenly bodies all in Capricorn, and all in one house of the horoscope. For you, that house is the third house, again underscoring communication and travel and all the specific activities I had listed above (especially for January 8).

On January 31, you have a lunar eclipse in Leo, 12 degrees, that will light your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement. Something exciting seems to be shaping up for your career.

Again, Jupiter and Mars will be in the vicinity and helpful to all the actions you take at this time. The new moon and all these planets will be found in your third house, regarding activities related to all the communication arts, including writing, speaking, acting, and coding, as well as traveling.

There is a problem with this new moon, however, and it involves Uranus, the planet of all things unexpected. Uranus strikes suddenly and in a weird way. Uranus is in your sixth house of work projects, so something involving a project is likely to go off the rails and require your immediate attention. Or, it could be that you start to feel ill with a heavy cold or flu and need to go home and rest, just when you need to be present at work on a vital assignment. Having Jupiter and Mars close and in good aspect to the crowd of planets in Capricorn will help the situation, but Uranus will make his presence known too.

I am sorry to have to raise this possibility of something going wrong suddenly, but you do need to be vigilant after the new moon January 16. If you usually get a flu shot, but didn’t this year, and your doctor says you should, you might want to get one early in the month, even though experts are saying this year’s version is only 10 percent effective. Experts also say that even so, the shot will likely lessen the effects if you catch the flu.

The third house that is so lit up for you also rules traveling short distances, such as the distance between New York and Boston. In this house, travel is usually taken by car or rail, but could be by plane. If you plan to drive, have a mechanic check your car before starting out and also get the latest weather reports. You might want to reschedule the meeting if wild weather is due. I am not sure what will come up, so I have listed various possibilities, but the point is, I do want you to be careful. If you have to be out of the office when a big project is starting to shape up, have a member of the team you trust oversee the details and report to you frequently.

When something comes up at a new moon, it usually takes time to sort out. It’s not like something happening at a full moon that strikes and is over immediately. Everyone of every sign will be subject to unexpected turns of events at this new moon on and after January 16, but as said, having Jupiter and Mars both traveling close in degree in Scorpio will be a big help to you.

If your birthday falls on November 18 plus or minus four days, or you have Scorpio rising or the natal moon in Scorpio at 26 degrees, plus or minus five degrees, you will feel both the strongly good and not-so-good effects of the new moon.

At month’s end, on January 31, we have a lunar eclipse in Leo, 12 degrees, that will light your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement. Something exciting seems to be shaping up for your career, and news should arrive within four days of this date.

Leo, the place of this eclipse, has to do with the entertainment industry, the luxury goods market, the children’s market in all of its forms, and as well as the professions involving teaching and managerial work. If you work in one of these fields, you will have a double dip of good news, but no matter what the type of work you do, you will likely have about.

If you are old enough, think back to January 31, 1999, when we last had an eclipse in this sign, Leo, at 12 degrees, for eclipses repeat every 19 years. If you can recall an important event that came up then, you may get a clue of a theme of what may surface again now. This is a full moon, so a promotion, new title, or offer from competitive company may come up now. Or, if you are an actor, you may be named in an important role now.

Because eclipses tend to be united in theme, you might also want to think back to last year, to an important career event that may have come up on February 11, August 7, or August 21, 2017, when the first eclipses in the Leo and Aquarius series first appeared. Each eclipse falls in a different degree, so you would not usually feel every eclipse, only some.

Often an eclipse will bring up a theme that is echoed throughout the term of that family of eclipses. We will have more eclipses in this family next month in February, and at the end of July and mid-August 2018, all falling in the Leo and Aquarius family of signs. The last eclipse in the series will come in January 2019.

Next month’s eclipse on February 15 will be friendly, so be sure to check back for more information on that one – it will involve your apartment or house, or your family. It’s all good!

Summary

You are filled with wanderlust, and now that the holidays are over, you can spread your wings and broaden your horizons. You may have already left for a poetic, inspiring location near water or snow in the last week of December, and are now finding yourself heading back from that distant point sometime during the first four days of the full moon in Cancer, January 1.

Life will be lyrical in January’s first week, because on January 6, active Mars – your ruler – will join with Jupiter, the great planet of gifts and luck. You will feel this aspect building the moment the month begins. These two planets will meet in Scorpio and shower you with radiant opportunity. This docking of two planets will have the ability to bring you an influx of money, and is also great for making an important initiation with profit potential.

Mars and Jupiter align every two years, but always in a different sign. They will not meet again in Scorpio until late November 2053, so make January 6 count by using it for something that you want to accomplish and need a competitive edge to lead you to victory. You will feel the energy building on January 5 too. Mars is one of your rulers giving this aspect extra weight and importance, so you certainly will find that you are at the right place at exactly the right time.

With Mars in your sign until January 26, you can take the lead, and others will be more inclined to listen to your proposals and approve your ideas with funding. You will have Mars in Scorpio again in two years (but alas not Jupiter at that time). For now, good fortune Jupiter will continue to favor you until early November 2018, so use this rare and glorious period to your advantage.

By the time you get to the new moon, January 16, a remarkable number of planets will gather in your third house of earned income – six – which is the highest number of planets that are possible to be aligned in one sign and area of your chart. (On May 3, 2000, we had seven planets aligned in Taurus, but scientists tell us that finding seven heavenly bodies in one house won’t happen again in our lifetime.)

All this emphasis on your third house may bring a number of outcomes. First, you may be looking over important papers to sign, for this is considered a contractual house. If you do sign, with Saturn there, you must look over the clauses very carefully, for the contract will likely be in place many years, possibly forever. You would not want to be bound by a contract that has no elasticity, should conditions eventually change in a way you cannot foresee now. Uranus will be in harsh angle to the Capricorn group of planets, the reason you need to tread slowly.

It is also very possible that you will be on the road again, going a short distance, possibly for work, for you will be very focused on negotiating a deal and working on budgets for Capricorn rules major financial markets and estates. Uranus’ hard angle in this instance may indicate that a project is headed in the wrong direction and you will be called on to find ways to fix it. Alternatively, you may suddenly have staffing problems and need to find qualified workers to fill in, pronto. Admittedly, this is a stressful new moon, but you have seen situations like this before, and you can rely on your practical nature to find a fix. You also have Jupiter and Mars on your side, a powerful mitigating influence.

The third house – the one so lit up for you – also rules your sisters and brothers, so you may hear from one, and may need time to give your sibling your advice on a matter that just surfaced. Even if you have other sisters and brothers, you seem to be the one in the best position to offer help.

By month’s end, your attention will switch away from all the topics you have been thinking about to your career. A full moon lunar eclipse on January 31 will light your prestigious tenth house of honors and achievement. If you have been working hard and smart for months or even years and feel you deserve more recognition, it is coming, dear Scorpio. Talks that come up at the lunar full moon eclipse January 31 will likely advance developments that first surfaced last year, in February or in August-September. Your star is on the rise, and soon everyone will know your name, and deservedly so, dear Scorpio.
