I am thinking of you, sitting in a coffee shop, elbow on the table, chin in your palm, drumming your fingers on the counter next to your steaming cup of coffee, reflecting on your financial state. I can hear you say, “I need more money, and I need it now.” The universe may have been listening to you, because this month it looks like more money is on the way to you, and you should see this to be true in a matter of weeks. The reason for my cheerful outlook has to do with the impending appearance of two friendly August eclipses, and both will light up each of your two financial houses.

Typically we only get four eclipses a year. They always come in pairs, appearing at the time of a new or full moon. They do not bring anything normal or commonplace but rather the unusual, surprising events, often change our expectations, and make us change our schedules and priorities. Often the eclipses bring news from the outside world that will have nothing to do with anything you have done but come suddenly and directly to your doorstep.

Eclipses are very powerful, and we are dealing with an entirely new family of eclipse signs, now in Leo and Aquarius. The first of this family occurred on February 10 of this year, so something you discussed back then, or a theme that emerged then, might now come up again much more vividly. Eclipses in a series are tied together like pearls on a necklace, and by the time we get to January 2019, the end of this series of eclipses that will come by in Leo and Aquarius every six months, you will be transformed financially. This month you may see instant money.

Before I show you the details, I would like to look back 19 years (if you are old enough) to August 8 and August 22, 1998. All eclipses repeat in sign and precise degree every 19 years. What were you doing in 1998? Can you recall anything important? If you can, it might suggest a general theme that might be echoed now.

This month, August 7, we will have a full moon lunar eclipse in Aquarius 15 degrees. That eclipse will bring a financial deal to a finish or ask you to send a large check to cover an obligation you entered into some time ago. Perhaps the check represents something you’ve saved up for, such as for a new car, a house or condo, tuition for your child’s camp, or a new computer. Or you may have made a very lucrative financial deal, and it is culminating at this time. It’s also possible you will hear about a large one-time sum coming to you soon. Aquarius is an electronic sign, so you might win on a TV game show or get a big licensing fee for the app you designed.

What is sweet about this new moon is that it will be in ideal angle to the great benefic, Jupiter, now in Libra. Jupiter is the good fortune planet whose only aim is to make you happy. Jupiter asks for nothing in return. This suggests what you might be paying for is something very valuable, or that you conclude a deal that is due to yield quite a large profit, for Jupiter expands everything it touches.

With Mars in your second house of earnings all month, there is no doubt you have high expenses, but as I said, those expenditures seem to have a purpose that you feel is important, that you expected and is now coming due. Or, it may be you are paying for something to your child or other beloved person needs (special lessons, tutor, or orthodontics, as a few examples). Or, you might pay off a debt, or hear good news about a student loan. Full moon lunar eclipses often bring closure.

This is an extraordinary time for Cancer to buy a house or condo, or to sell property, because Jupiter is currently in your house of home and family. Jupiter will leave this spot in your chart on October 10, and not return for 12 years. Of course, you can always move or fix up, but right now seems especially good for you to look into possibilities. If you need money from your family, ask, for you have a good chance of getting help – family will support your goals now, even if you’ve never had much luck with your parents helping you out before this.

If you are in the process of buying a house or condo or leasing a vacation home, as some examples of a real estate matter that might be on your mind, you could hit a breakthrough when Mars in Leo receives golden beams from Jupiter in your house of home and family, which will happen over the weekend of August 19-20.

On August 21, a new moon solar eclipse will arrive in Leo at 29 degrees. This is a total eclipse of the Sun, and eclipses of the Sun are always new moons. They are known to open a completely new path, one that never existed before. Here I feel you will have a chance to earn a new source of income, and that offer will likely appear shortly after August 21. If it doesn’t happen then, it might once Mars touches the same degree as the eclipse, 29 degrees, on September 2. A new source seems on the way, dear Cancer. The one thing about eclipses is that they often demand you give up something to get something else. You may have already given up your source of income. If you are self-employed, you may have lost a client, or if you work for others, you may have been laid off. This month it may be as simple as you quitting your present job when another fine offer comes along.

    Eclipses are known to open a completely new path, one that never existed before. As a result of the August 21 solar eclipse you will have a chance to earn a new source of income, and the offer should appear shortly after the eclipse appears.

I will add an aside here before continuing on discussion of the August 21 eclipse. Cancer has had a great deal of instability regarding career over the past seven years. Uranus is in square (challenging) angle to your Sun, and if you were born near the end of Cancer, July 12-20, you are dealing directly with Uranus now. This volatility will come to an end once Uranus moves to Taurus May 15 to November 6, 2018, but some of the rocking and rolling will be prevalent from now through mid-May 2018 until Uranus gets to Taurus and from November 2018 to March 6, 2019, when Uranus retrogrades back to Aries, the tough place for this planet to be for you.

Cancers who have birthdays that fall in June and prior to July 15 already faced these difficult aspects, because Uranus started sending big changes to your career in March 2010. Cancers with birthdays that fall at the start of the sign, in June, felt rattled by Uranus in 2010 – 2011. We all go through this aspect sooner or later, but since it has an 84-year cycle, it only comes once in a lifetime. (If you live to 100, you probably won’t be still working after 85, so don’t worry about it.) Uranus is not here to torture you, but to make you flexible, resourceful, and more adaptable to evolving changes in the marketplace. You have had seven years of this, so you are an expert at Uranus by now.

The best way to deal with Uranus is to have contingency plans, keep up with reading about your industry, remain realistic, and not be lulled into wishful thinking. We all fall for some wishful thinking, especially if we love our jobs. For example, just because your company recently moved into a beautiful new headquarters doesn’t mean it’s strong and healthy – it could be on the verge of collapse, so keep reading the trade journals, going to trade shows, and talking to people on the street. I give a lot of credit to street talk, for you will learn things before the stories appear on the newspaper sites.

Now we need to turn to the fantastic financial news of the August 21 eclipse! Two planets will multiply the goodness of this eclipse – Uranus and Saturn, both in the perfect spot in the sky to be of help. Uranus can bring you surprise news, from a source you never considered, with good news about wanting to take you on. To be clear, Uranus is in lovely angle to the new moon and that matters. Don’t worry if Uranus is not in good angle to your Sun because you were born near the end of your sign. You will benefit after August 21. O ye of little faith!

Saturn is the planet in charge of security and the building of a deep foundation, so having Saturn working hard to bolster the effects of this solar eclipse of August 21 too tells me the source of income could be long-term and add to your sense of security.

Think back to conversations you were having last February 10 – that was the first eclipse to come by in the new family of eclipses we are experiencing now, and will continue to experience until late January 2019. February 10 was a full moon lunar eclipse in Aquarius, so look at your email to find out what you were doing back then.

The new family of eclipses will be in Aquarius-Leo, and every six months they will come by your two financial houses, your second house of earned income (here, August 21, and your eighth house of other people’s money on the earlier, lunar eclipse, August 7). The earlier eclipse on August 7 will put a spotlight on loans, financial obligations, credit cards, student loans, taxes, and so forth. By the time you reach January 2019, approximately 18 months from now, you will have restructured your financial life.

Saturn has been retrograde for months, but will go direct on August 24, and that will help you streamline your job situation. Saturn retrograde is weak, and it has been retrograding since April 6 of this year. Once you get to August 24, you will find life proceeds more smoothly and without the obstacles that kept popping up related to earning a living. It doesn’t matter if you are self-employed or work for others, Saturn in a stronger orbit will be a plus for you.

I have to tell you that Mercury will be retrograde August 12-September 5, so be careful. This is a month that will bring a lot of fast moving events. I would rather you not sign papers when Mercury is out of phase, but if you must, I will ask you to take the paperwork to your lawyer for a close look at it. See if you can sign after September 5. Untoward events that come up during Mercury retrograde seem to come out of left field.

For example, I have a friend who didn’t believe Mercury retrograde would hurt her. She was selling her mother’s co-op after her mother’s death. All the authorities and the buyers showed up at the table to sign all the papers at the closing. At the last minute, news surfaced that a small lien of $1,500 existed against the co-op, despite the careful combing of all the financials by the lawyer and the co-op board. It was a tiny oversight. The buyers were outraged because the entire deal could fall through. The seller, my friend, kept her wits about her, called her Congressman, wired the tax money, and got the entire matter solved within an hour. The sale went through perfectly because of my friend’s cool head. It seems every time you do something important with Mercury retrograde, you regret it. Wait until after September 5.

In matters of love, dear Cancer, you will see your popularity rise. Venus will be in Cancer all month, so people will find you hypnotic and magnetic. At the start of the month, you might want to do something special for your appearance, or to browse websites to see if a madly flattering outfit is on sale for you – do so early in the month, and you might find something perfect for you.

Venus is now in Cancer all month until August 26, making you feel that finally, all is right with the world. Your popularity will be high, and your optimism will keep you buoyed all month. The power of positive thinking will keep you on track and leading events in the right direction. Friday, August 11 will be especially divine, when Venus and Neptune will dance the dance of love in the heavens, and the perfumed sweetness of this evening will extend into the weekend. You might want to plan a weekend at the seashore, as Neptune is in Pisces, and Venus is in Cancer, all water signs, to mix a magical potion of love.

Finances will be a main concern as you begin to see your earnings emanate from a new source. You have two houses in the horoscope that rule money, and both will be energized by the two eclipses of the month. In each case, financial news will come in different, but positive ways. The first eclipse will be a full moon lunar eclipse in Aquarius, August 7, and will help you pay off debt and possibly have you see an influx of cash from a different source, outside of salary. It will likely come in one large chunk, such as from an inheritance, prize winning, commission, bonus, cash gift, pension, grant, scholarship, or university financial aid. Money may alternatively come through a large infusion of venture capital, bank loan, or a mortgage with attractive terms, as a few examples. The moon rules Cancer, so a lunar full moon eclipse will always touch you in a direct way, far more than most people will feel it.

Jupiter, giver of gifts and luck, will be sending golden beams to the lunar eclipse on August 7, and is currently touring your home sector for the first time in twelve years, making this a superb time to buy, lease, or sell property. You will also find it possible to generate income from your home, by having a home office, entertaining clients there, or by inviting your boss to your home for dinner. Alternatively, you might sell items and furniture you no longer need by placing a photo on an auction website, or opening your spare room by listing with a company like Airbnb. Money will also come through work, of course, and whether you work part time, full time, or on a project-by-project basis, the opportunities will be there for you if you look for them. You might also take an extra job over weekends. The work won’t be a step up in status because the house that brings prestige won’t be brought into the loop by these eclipses, but the work you do will improve your cash flow. Self-employed? Make your services known through publicity or advertising, and new clients will flock to you.

The second eclipse, a solar eclipse, August 21, will open the door for more ways to earn greater income. This one is a new moon, known to bring new opportunities that you hadn’t had before. While you may lose one source of income this month, a new one seems to come in quickly, within weeks of this eclipse. With Mars moving through your second house since July 20, it’s clear your expenses have been increasing lately, so you are likely to be motivated to find a new pipeline of money. This eclipse may be a gift from heaven.

It’s a big eclipse – you will see the sky go dark if you are in the path of totality of the eclipse. Check the NASA website for the path of darkness that will gradually fall for a minute or two as the eclipse moves slightly diagonally across the United States, from Oregon to South Carolina. This is the first big eclipse we have seen only in the US since June 1918.

A golden triangle will appear at the August 21 eclipse. This is remarkable because to have a golden triangle, you need three heavenly bodies that are scattered through the solar system to be in precisely the right mathematical angle to each other, forming a triangle of close to 120 degrees apart. Its first leg of the triangle will point to your work projects, indicated by the supportive position of Saturn. Saturn is tied to the idea of security and comfort, so you will likely feel that finally life is on the upswing and you can exhale.

Apparently, the detailed concentration you always give your assignments has impressed the powers at the top. News is about to get even better. The next leg of the triangle will point to a group of three at once, including Mars, the new moon, and Sun, indicating the income you see will be earned as salary, not given to you in one large lump (as the first eclipse portends). The third and last leg of the triangle is the most exciting, for it points to Uranus, nestled in your tenth house of fame and honors, indicating that the work you are discussing within days of August 21 (or one month to the day later, plus or minus four days) will bring you, along with money, thundering applause and praise, along with a swift elevation in industry status. You may get a competitive offer, or if self-employed, a lucrative new client. The sweetest part – you won’t see this coming: the fuss being made about you will be completely unexpected.

What an amazing month August will be for you! Don’t be away on vacation during the week, as too much will be happening, and you will want to be there to monitor it all. Mercury will be retrograde August 12 to September 5, so something you did in the past may now bring reward. It may be about a specific project, or that you’ve built a lifetime reputation. Don’t be too quick to sign on the dotted line – take your time and let the dust settle before you make choices. Do so September 12 or 15.
