A Note from Susan Miller

October 2018

Dear Reader,

I am excited to tell you about my two appearances, first in October at the New Life Expo on Saturday, October 27, in New York City, and then in Carlsbad, California where I am doing a full weekend of yoga and astrology from November 2-4, 2018. In both cases, I will tell you all about the Year Ahead 2019. All the details about my two appearances are on my website. Check my homepage of AstrologyZone.com. Here is the short version of what I will do, and I hope you can come!

Your Horoscope by Susan Miller

This year was smooth sailing from January through most of June, but once you edged closer to June 26, things started to go haywire, and in a way, they still are. Mars went retrograde, June 26 to August 27. Mars is the energy planet that acts like a booster to big dreams and gets them lifted into a good strong orbit, but when Mars goes retrograde (which happens every two years), nothing quite clicks into place. It was hard for you to get new projects launched, and in your personal life, if you were dating, you may have had problems deciding about where you ultimately wanted to bring your relationship.

Add three eclipses on July 12, July 27, and August 11 and a dash of Mercury retrograde from July 25 to August 18, and there you had a recipe for havoc. It certainly was an intense period.

September allowed you to catch your breath, and you may have assumed that life would begin to get back to normal, but that was not to be the case. This month, Venus, Libra’s ruling planet, will go retrograde from October 5 to November 16. This will keep your plans on hold, and just when Venus is done retrograding, Mercury, the planet of contracts, negotiations, commerce, and communication, will go retrograde—from November 16 to December 6.

The universe is speaking very loudly and clearly: We all need to slow down and think about the direction of our lives. Sometimes we get so caught up with the little details of life, we fail to see the big picture. Worse, we don’t do the deep thinking we need to do to direct life in the way that would make us happiest. To correct this, the universe puts a number of speed bumps in place to force us all to stop, look, and listen to what is going on around us.

Retrograde planets certainly do slow us down. Look back over this year, from the start in January 2018, and examine what you’ve done so far. What made you proudest? Happiest? What was your toughest day?

If you love the life you have built, then you can take a moment to enjoy and mark the moments that mean the most to you. You need to celebrate the big victories and landmarks, and the little triumphs, too. Looking back over the year so far, what made you happiest? You may want to do more daydreaming and imagine yourself in a situation that you would enjoy to be in. Tell everyone about your dreams, from your dearest friends to the new acquaintances you meet. You never know when and from whom your special tip or introduction will come.

If you are dissatisfied with parts of your life, it may take baby steps to move out of that situation, and plenty of planning, but if you don’t start planning you are only delaying your escape. Some actions require years of planning, but the point is, you can do it.

After little action-hero Mars went direct on August 27, he was groggy and needed time to function normally again. When he is in good shape, he is just like Mighty Mouse, streaming across the sky, his cape fluttering in the wind. Mars was in no shape to jump off a building, let alone the bed. He kept practicing trying to jump off the bed and fly around the apartment, but he was too weak, so it was pretty comical. I put a fresh pot of coffee on for him and made him lunch to keep him company. I reminded little Mars that the world was waiting for his energetic help. Bless his heart, he has been working on getting stronger every day, on the treadmill at the gym, taking runs in the park, lifting weights, and taking his vitamins.

By October 8, Mars will be at full strength again, and we should all be excited. Mars is back to help. This is great news, for that’s the same day as the new moon in Libra, and Mars can give it a nice push forward. Mars is still in in the highly compatible sign (to Libra) of Aquarius until November 16 and will be lighting your house of true love, which also rules pregnancy, care and fun with children, leisure time, sports, and fun. You will be able to take time off and unwind, and you will also have time to focus on a favorite pastime or to play more often with small children. Museum visits, tickets to the ballet, a concert, or a Broadway show—pick one or two—for those could be in the cards for you.

Put a gold circle around October 29, when Mercury and Jupiter combine, a fantastic aspect that will form a conjunction in your second house of earned income. The full moon may take money out of your bank account, but you will soon put money in, dear Libra.

If your birthday falls within five days of October 8, you will feel the energy of this new moon more directly than other Libras. The same is true if you have Libra rising at 15 degrees or have your natal moon in Libra at 15 degrees.

Pluto will be in hard angle to the new moon October 8, and because Pluto is in your home sector, you may be working on your basement or looking at the foundation of your home to see if there are any cracks that have to be patched. If you wanted to put up a wall or take one down in your apartment or to change the structure of your house or apartment, you will be able to do so now, or if not now, certainly in January. Repairs and a more ambitious overhaul and remodeling will be favored in January for you.

Romantically, you are in a superb position to meet a new romantic interest, if you are single, for Mars will make you noticed and more confident, and will increase your charisma, too.

There is a glitch, however, for Venus will be retrograde beginning October 5 for about six weeks, so that would not be considered the best time to start a new relationship. Venus rules affection, and the relationship is likely to fall off in time and become distant. If, however, you already met someone, Mars will help you keep the spark going, but don’t get overly involved until you get to know one another well. I would like you to wait until after November 15 to advance the relationship to a closer level.

While Venus is retrograde, it is not wise to change your appearance in a dramatic way. No face-lifts, plastic surgery, or cosmetic dental work. Refrain from changing your hair color radically, or, if you are a woman, don’t ask you hairdresser to design a dramatic change in hairstyle. You can, of course, have trims and do regular grooming.

It is best not to buy luxury goods during Venus retrograde, and especially, don’t buy expensive jewelry. Mercury will retrograde soon, November 16 to December 6, so if you want to buy a computer, smartphone, expensive headset, a car, dishwasher, or anything else you might need that has moving parts, do so now, or wait until after December 6.

I need to flag a certain date for you as possibly problematic. October 10 seems to bring difficult news about money because Mercury (news) will oppose Uranus (surprise), and these two will be cutting across your two financial houses. This suggests that jarring news about money could surface. Avoid this day to have a meeting or negotiation, and do not either sign a contact or give your verbal answer on this day. Do not make any big financial moves on such a difficult day. It may be a precursor of the full moon, October 24.

Finances will again be your focus on the full moon, October 24, and I am expecting difficulties. Uranus will be conjunct the full moon, which, in itself, is volatile and sometimes shocking. Uranus will also oppose the Sun and Venus, Libra’s ruler, which is a tough aspect. You won’t see what is coming, and it seems to be a situation that involves your career reputation, but also eighth house matters of other people’s money, including such financial matters as loans, venture capital, credit cards, mortgages, student loans, insurance claims, inheritances, commissions, royalties, cash advances, and so forth.

This full moon will connect to one of these areas that could bring jarring financial news within four days of October 24. It seems you will not expect this news, as it will come out of left field. It is a time to take in information, not make any moves.

Alternatively, this full moon may suddenly bring up a health matter that will require surgery or a procedure. The eighth house is considered the house of transformation, where the surgeon takes away the part of you that is hurting you and allows you to transform into a healthy person again.

You will have help from Saturn at this full moon, for Saturn in Capricorn, your solar fourth house of home and family, will be in the ideal spot in the sky to help you. Your parent, or someone you think of as a parent, or an older mature person may help you solve the problem with a loan or outright monetary gift. Or, it may be you can use the equity of your house to secure a loan you need. There are many possibilities.

Generally, however, your finances seem to be solid, and this full moon appears to be a fluke. It may be about taxes owed or a large credit card bill that gives you sticker shock because you never imagined you were racking up so many charges that temporarily rattles you.

Put a gold circle around October 29, when Mercury and Jupiter combine, a fantastic aspect that will form a conjunction in your second house of earned income. The full moon may take money out of your bank account, but you will soon put money in, dear Libra. This would be a fantastic day to sign papers, make a speech or presentation, hand in your manuscript, code software, sign the work order for your new app, start posting on a social media site new to you, or launch your advertising or publicity campaign. It’s also a perfect day to travel, for business or pleasure. Plan to do something special over the weekend of October 27-28, and add Monday October 29 if you like. It’s a special day.

SUMMARY

It is birthday time, and you are eager to celebrate with friends. With Mars in your house of love through mid-November, you will be popular and be given many options to join friends.

Mars was retrograde from late June through August, and on August 27 Mars went direct. Mars spent September ramping up his energy, and by now, on October 8, Mars will return to robust strength and be helpful to you, especially in matters of the heart. Having Mars in your fifth house of love and romance is a lovely place to host Mars. If single, from October 8 onward, you will find it easier to meet a romantic partner who will click nicely with you. If attached, you can look forward to having more fun with your mate, so plan an awe-inspiring vacation or draw up plans to entertain friends often at home.

The new moon in Libra on October 8 will occur on the same day and give you a chance to make changes in your coming birthday year. Long-range plans can now take shape, so make your list and work on the one or two items that interests you the most.

Venus, your ruling planet, will be in weak retrograde orbit from October 5 to November 16, and during that time will hold up several of your plans. Delays will benefit you, so don’t push against the slow place—welcome the extra time you will have to work out the kinks in past projects or to improve a close personal or business relationship. It’s a time of reflection, so think back over the past months of 2018 and decide what plans have been working well for you, and which ones have not.

The planets we feel the most when retrograde are the ones that orbit close to earth: Mercury (which retrogrades every 12 weeks for three-and-a-half weeks), Venus (every 18 months), and Mars (every two years).

All retrograde planets will urge you to look back, not forward. Refrain from launching anything new and vital just yet—act after December 6. If you can’t wait until December to sign papers, you can do so this month on October 29, a sterling day that I will describe in a minute. You can have talks and gather information now, but wait until Venus goes direct for best results. Finally, after that point, you can look forward to a happy holiday season and a shiny New Year, too. Venus and Mars will not retrograde at all in 2019.

The full moon on October 24 will be a financial wild card, for things could go either way on either end of the spectrum. This full moon will be conjunct volatile Uranus, and Uranus will oppose the Sun and Venus. This is quite a lot of pandemonium of planetary activity, bringing all things unexpected.

This full moon will be moving through your eighth house of other people’s money. The kind of money that the eighth house rules covers one-time payments, such as  loans, commissions, advances, taxes, royalties, insurance payouts for claims, and so forth. Financial news could be either fantastic or troubling, but it appears you will have plenty of supportive planets to bring a positive financial outcome.

Neptune will be working hard on your behalf from his perch in your work-a-day sector, indicating business will be brisk, but at the same time, Uranus will oppose your ruler, Venus, and the Sun, in your earned sector. This points to the likelihood that your expenses will be high. Money will come in and money will go out, and it seems enough money will come in to cover those financial obligations.

A friend might invite you to a social event that would fall on one of the days at week’s end, October 26-28. You may want to go, but you might be concerned about the costs involved. Happily, in rare aspect, Mercury (news) and Jupiter (financial luck) will join forces on Monday, October 29, so within days, you may enjoy another influx of cash.

Saturn will help stabilize the financial ups and downs in the last days of October too, and you may get help from a parent or older person, possibly a mentor. By month’s end, you’ll feel optimistic about your financial future.

Travel will be beautifully oriented over October 27-30, so you could plan a three-day trip that works out to be simply heavenly.
