從漢語聲調從上古到中古的演變來說，唐作藩先生說：「上古上、去二聲字比較少，而《切韻》裡的上、去聲字則明顯增多。……中古新增的上聲字，它們大都是從上古的平聲轉化而來的。例如：爽、顙、享、朗、饗、往、……等字在先秦、兩漢都是念平聲的。」（唐作藩《漢語語音史教程》，108頁）。

從金文的「土」通「徒」的現象來看（即司徒作司土），「土」和「徒」在上古可能都是平聲，而「土」到中古變成上聲，在現代台語讀做 t‘ɔ`（陰上聲）。而「徒」則到中古仍是平聲，在現代台語讀做 tɔ´／t‘ɔ´。所以說，國語泥土義的「土」，台語說 t‘ɔ´，應該是「土」字的上古音平聲的遺留。

這樣說來，「土」字是台語泥土義 t‘ɔ´ 的本字了。

「歲」字《廣韻》相銳切、心母祭韻（合）、韻母甲「hòe、hè」對應、聲母無對應。

「歲」字个頂古中原音、BAXTER 甲 SAGART 共伊推構做 *s-qʷʰat-s、頭前个「s-」是接頭詞。無定「hòe、hè」个詞源是許个無掛接頭詞个 *qʷʰat-s。

　　「俑」字在台語有沒有 aŋ 的音？「俑」字，《廣韻》記錄他紅切（平聲、東韻）及余隴切（上聲、腫韻）兩個音，字義相同。「他紅切」屬通攝、一等、開口、平聲、透母，在台語文讀 t‘ɔŋ，白讀 t‘aŋ。白讀音的 t‘aŋ 和 aŋ 比較，只是聲母不同，其他韻母、聲調都相同。他紅切的反切上字「他」屬透母，透母的字在台語都跟中古一樣讀做 t‘-，沒有變化，也沒有變為零聲母的例。另外一個反切「余隴切」也屬於通攝，不過它是三等、合口、上聲、喻四母，台語文讀 iɔŋ`。余隴切的反切上字「余」在中古屬喻四母，喻四母在中古是喉塞音 ʔ–，在台語大部分是零聲母，但也有部分字的聲母是 dz- 或 ts-，如：瑜（dzu´）、癢（tsiũ⊦）。這是因為「喻四母歸定」（喻四母的上古音是 d-）所致。

　　通攝、三等、合口的字有少數字在台語變成 -aŋ 韻的例，如：重，文 tiɔŋ⊦／白 taŋ⊦；共，文 kiɔŋ⊦／白 kaŋ⊦；縫，文 hɔŋ´／白 paŋ´。因此，「俑」字在台語可以讀做韻母 -aŋ 的音。問題是聲調。「俑」是上聲字，依照反切來讀，「俑」字白讀時可以讀做 aŋ（上聲），但是台語 aŋ-a 的 aŋ 是陰平聲，聲調不相符。不過，從「俑」字有他紅切（平聲）及余隴切（上聲）兩個音來看，「俑」字在台語讀做陰平聲 aŋ，應該說得通，何況，「俑」字的白讀音 aŋ 有可能從上古音演變過來。

　　「俑」字的兩個反切「他紅切」及「余隴切」在上古都屬於東部，但前者是一等，後者是三等，擬測的上古音分別是 ct‘uŋ 及 cdjuŋ。兩個音的聲母 t‘- 和 d- 都是舌尖塞音，因此兩個音可以說「音近」。演變到現代台語，兩者的白讀音韻母都變成 -aŋ，聲母 d- 經過中古喻四的演變，成為零聲母，聲調則保留了 ct‘uŋ 的平聲，因為聲母 t‘- 是清音，在台語變成陰平聲，於是「俑」字的音在台語就變成 aŋ（陰平聲）了。

　　總結上面所說，從「俑」字的字義及字音兩方面來探討，台語玩偶義 aŋ-a` 及神像義 aŋ　的本字應該是「俑」字。

由於台語是屬於源自於上古漢語的閩語群，所以很多字的發音跟演變自中古漢語的華語（屬官話系）是屬於不同聲母系統演變。

比方說「歲」，上古擬音(之一)sqʰʷad，官話拿了sʷ-，演變成了「ㄙㄨㄟˋ」（swèj / sui⁴；suèi）；閩語群內諸多語言拿到了(q)ʰʷ，所以在台語演變成了「ㄏㄨセˋ」（hwè / hòe ; huè）

又或者「葉」，上古擬音hljeb，閩南語延續了這個結構，演變到了台語變成「hio̍h」。

或許有些人知道，中壇元帥、三太子爺・哪吒是一名印度神明，父親為夜叉王俱吠羅（Kubera），也就是佛教四天王的北方天王毘沙門天，以及日後道教另分化出的托塔天王。

- 正常狀況下都是先有音（語言）後有字（文字）

  一般來說，象形文與會意字大多應該是字體本身就是聲符，畢竟就是為此事物而造的字。

  至於形聲字與指事字，應該是先找合適的部首或偏旁，再配上一個符合發音的聲符？

  像是「犬」是象形字，「狗」是形聲字。
