I am so happy to send you the August forecast, for it brims with happy surprises. July was an intense month for many readers, for we all were subject to two eclipses and Mercury retrograde. In comparison, August will be a breath of fresh air. Mercury is now direct, and we have one of the most beautiful new moons of 2019 on August 30 in Virgo. You might have had a hard time last month, especially if you had a birthday that fell near (within five days) the eclipses that arrived as a solar new moon eclipse, July 2, and on July 16, a full moon lunar eclipse in Capricorn. You would not generally feel every eclipse in one family of signs, specifically the Cancer-Capricorn series, as each one falls in a different degree.
This family of eclipses in Cancer-Capricorn started on July 12, 2018, with a solar new moon eclipse. That one was fairly friendly, although all eclipses expect some sort of accommodation and adjustment from you in response to their dictates. Next, you experienced a new moon solar eclipse in Capricorn on January 5, 2019. Saturn was prominent, giving it a weighty feel.
New moon eclipses bring a start, while full moon eclipses are more emotional and often bring a non-negotiable ending. After the January 5 eclipse that started the year, the next eclipse in the series arrived last month as a solar new moon eclipse in Cancer, July 2, which might have brought news of a new condition involving your partner.
The July 16 full moon solar eclipse in Capricorn was the more difficult of the two for it was to address a matter very personal to you. Sometimes eclipses eclipse out people from our lives, either because they move away, break up, or for other reasons, and we simply don’t see them anymore. Eclipses can be sad in that way.
If your birthday falls within five days of December 31, you likely noticed the July 2 eclipse. If your birthday falls within five days of January 14, you likely felt the July 16 eclipse more.
If your birthday is named above but you noticed no news last month, you might still hear news on or near August 2 or August 16 (plus or minus four days) because 15% of eclipses will deliver their message one month to the day in the following month, plus or minus four days.
Only 10% of eclipses are felt the month prior to the eclipses, but it does happen, so it’s possible that you heard something on June 2 or June 16.
You can only notice the message of an eclipse once, which means, if you were born near one of the two dates listed, December 31 or January 14, and noticed news last month or the month before (in June), you are done. If you heard nothing, you might hear something August 2 or August 16.
Your happiest part of the month will come later, on August 30, when your ninth house—the area of the chart that gives an expansive panoramic view of life—will hold five heavenly bodies all in Virgo, a fellow earth sign like yours…. What a divine time for you to travel far and wide, at month’s end and into September.

Now let’s turn to August, when money will be very much on your mind, for as the month takes off, you will have Venus, Mars, the Sun, and new moon all crowded into your eighth house of other people’s money. If you are working on a way to divide property at the end of a marriage or business, the new moon that fell July 31 (or August 1, depending on your time zone) and the days to follow would be the time to open talks. If you plan to file an insurance claim, apply for a bank loan or mortgage, work on an inheritance, scholarship, or university financial aid, do it in early August. If you work in sales, this would be a good time to talk over commission rates and accounts, or if you are a writer, to get your new book contract settled, including your royalties.
Regarding a divorce or split of business partners, sometimes discussions like this take time, so don’t be concerned if talks continue to the end of the year. The next eclipse will be a solar new moon eclipse in Capricorn and will fall on Christmas Day, December 25. Remarkably, it will be a peach and favor all your interests. Have faith that talks will lead in the right direction so that you can forge a win-win for both sides.
This new moon (not an eclipse) of July 31/August 1 is mixed, but you have quite an ace with Jupiter, giver of gifts and luck, now sending golden beams to that new moon and to Mars, perfect for discussing anything that could be described as other people’s money. Mars’ presence in this financial part of your chart suggests how determined you will be to get to a pleasing answer. You seem to have high expenses, but they may be temporary.
The down side of this July 31/August 1 new moon will come from Uranus, in hard angle to the Sun and new moon, from your fifth house. If you have any differences about child support (or back child support), Uranus will throw an unexpected element into the talks, and it may knock you off balance temporarily. If you have a lawyer, the two of you will need to be ready for anything and build a strategy for contingencies.
Still, you have some bright days on your calendar. Jupiter will be at perfect angle to the Sun on August 5 and August 6, with some spill-over of golden luck on August 7, all fabulous days to start talks or to send in an insurance claim or request for a bank loan or university financial aid. Venus will be in elegant orientation to Jupiter too, on August 8, so you have an entire string of days that would be helpful to you.
Jupiter will go direct on August 11, having been retrograde since April 10. You have Jupiter in your behind-the-scenes sector until December 2, so apparently you have someone who is looking after your interests, possibly a benefactor, and this person does not want to be publicly identified but prefers to remain anonymous. This is akin to having a guardian angel protecting you. From August 11, Jupiter will turn on full power, a blessing to everyone, including you.
The full moon of August 15 in Aquarius at 22 degrees will again find you working on money matters and pounding your calculator with the aim to hammer out a final financial agreement. This full moon will not emphasize other people’s money like the new moon discussed above in Leo, but rather put the spotlight on your own money that you save, spend, and earn, mainly as salary.
Full moons finish talks, so you likely will finish up the monetary matter on the table fairly quickly. That’s not to say negotiations will be exactly easy mid-month. Mars will oppose the moon, so talks might get fierce with the other side becoming threatening and emotional. Capricorn knows how to work through financial negotiations calmly, for you are considered one of the four most talented financial signs along with Cancer, Taurus, and Scorpio. You also stay objective and unemotional in instances when you see the other party is getting worked up, which is an asset for you, too. By the time you get four days beyond August 15, things will settle down, and perhaps you will be able to put this matter to rest permanently.
August 16 will be the tense day of the month, when Mercury and Uranus will be at sharp odds. Do not sign a contract or agree to anything verbally on this day. Instead, table talks and signing papers until the best day of the month for those actions, August 21, when Mercury and benefic, profit-oriented Jupiter will be in sync.
Once Mars moves into Virgo on August 17, to stay until October 3, you will feel in your element and that things are getting easier. Expenses, which were running high in early August, will start to fall to normal levels.
Venus will enter Virgo on August 21 and remain until September 14. Virgo is an earth sign like your Sun, dear Capricorn, so this is your time to have fun. Spend a little money on yourself, and find a madly flattering new outfit to wear in the coming season. This is the very best month you’ve seen in weeks to shop for something new to wear. Women readers might want to check the new makeup colors, now that the seasonal light outdoors is changing.
The good news is that Venus and her cosmic lover, Mars, will meet in perfect alignment on Saturday, August 24, in Virgo, your ninth house of long-distance travel. Wow. This is a rare day. Venus loves to be with Mars, but they have different assignments and rarely can be together. You might want to get an airline ticket to a far-away city for you and your partner and have the most romantic private trip that you’ve had in a long time.
If you are single, the alignment with Venus and Mars on August 24 will be magnificent. By all means circulate, because your magnetism will be sky high, and it is hard to imagine how you would not meet someone special. If you are attached, this would be the finest day of the year to celebrate your love—choose a special occasion restaurant that you’ve always wanted to try.
To show you how rare the conjunction is between Mars and Venus, this typically happens every two years, but these two will not meet in Virgo again until November 2047.
The universe wants you to enjoy love, for it is sending more electric and magical aspects for romance in the last week of August.
First, circle Monday, August 26, when Venus and Uranus, now in your fifth house of truelove, will play tag. This is a classic, flirtatious aspect, as Uranus will chase delicate Venus around the sky in a fun and lighthearted way. This aspect of Mars and Venus in alignment can ignite the spark of love.
If you are single, this alignment of Venus and Uranus on August 26 is a great aspect that you will feel as it builds over your sexy weekend, August 24-25. You are most likely to meet in a nearby resort where substantial singles like to go, like the Hamptons in New York, Ojai in Los Angeles, or Aspen in Colorado—you would know the area near your base. You could also meet on a college campus if you are taking courses in August.
The month keeps getting better and better for you. On Wednesday, August 28, Mars and Uranus will be in perfect sync. This is a powerful and highly chemical sparkling aspect. Mars will still be in your travel sector, and Uranus, of course, is staying in your truelove sector, a place Uranus took up just last March and will stay a total of seven years. When it comes to love for Capricorn, the operative words are surprise. (That is, in terms of a surprise meeting.)
If you are hoping to have a baby, this word, surprise, fits too—a surprise pregnancy is very likely at the end of this month, even if you have had problems with conception. Of course, it’s always better to see a specialist to get the very best advice. If you are not hoping to have a baby, be careful, as Mars, Venus, and Uranus think a baby is a good idea. You might not agree.
Finally, we have a gorgeous new moon, the sweetest one of the year, in Virgo, seven degrees, in your ninth house, the area Mars, Venus, and Mercury have been lighting up in the days leading to this sparkling new moon. This new moon will open the door to foreign and long-distance travel, new and improved international relationships, a favorable outcome to legal matters, and anything having to do with university/college study in your efforts to earn a degree or defend your thesis and have it approved.
If you work in publishing or broadcasting, you now have a wonderful opportunity to host your own TV show or podcast or write a screenplay, Internet or magazine column, or the book you always said you would get to someday.
I love that Saturn, your ruler, will support the Sun, new moon, Mercury, Mars, and Venus in Virgo, giving you a chance to see long-term results from your actions. Saturn will give you a greater sense of security, too. Best of all, Uranus will still be beaming up to Mercury, the Sun, new moon, Mars, and Venus—all the planets in your ninth house—and so surprises are likely to keep coming to you quickly after the new moon arrives August 30.
This new moon will affect you more in September than August, of course, as all new moons have almost two weeks of influence. Like pretty firecrackers going off in a box, one right after the other, you will have happy little planets set them off in several areas of your life. Unlike earlier, when Uranus was little Dennis the Menace, throwing obstacles in your path, Uranus will redeem himself at month’s end by giving you only happy surprises. Some possibilities include unexpected events involving your physical home, a family member, or something involving your partner, a financial matter, a work project, or travel and international relationships. You will love life after the August 30 new moon arrives, for it will introduce a much more favorable landscape for you.
If your birthday falls on December 28, plus or minus five days, or you have Capricorn rising at seven degrees, plus or minus five degrees, you will get a double dip of pleasure from this diamond of a new moon. It’s special for everyone, so even if this doesn’t pertain to you, you may have a planet in early degrees of Capricorn and feel a very strong, positive effect. Everyone will benefit in some way, so circle August 30 in red, and watch the days that follow.
SUMMARY
You appear to be working on a big financial deal or agreement, and not surprisingly, it is complex. You have substantial favor—Mars, Venus, the Sun, and new moon of July 31-August 1 (depending on your time zone) all in your eighth house of other people’s money, and the new moon will be influential for ten days after it appears. This new moon will work with you to help you turn talks to your favor. You seem to have a secret benefactor who will help you obtain funds you need to get started on a big goal. There will be crosscurrents too, mainly due to Uranus, planet of unanticipated events, which will challenge the Sun, new moon, and Venus. This suggests you may have to rethink your project, as cost overruns may surface unexpectedly.
The full moon in Aquarius on August 15 will bring a culmination to a financial matter within four days, but similar to the new moon at the start of the month, Mercury will be under siege, first by Pluto (in the first week) and at mid-month by Uranus. The actions you take at this new moon and in the ten days that follows will have the power to affect you for a year or more, possibly forever.
If you do not plan to travel as a result of this new moon’s opportunities, alternatively, you may be packing up to go to college or graduate school, and if so, you will do remarkably well this year, for the aspects of this new moon will follow you as you go forward for twelve months.
If you are not going to university at month’s end, you may be beginning work on a broadcasting or publishing project, which also will allow you to prove your worth. If you have legal matter to address, plan to act on it after the sensational new moon, August 30. This new moon is special because you will have the support of Uranus (sudden help) and Saturn, your guardian planet, which will strengthen stability in your romantic relationship. If you can travel, do, for that would be one of the sweetest ways to enjoy love this month.
One last word: Watch the weekend of August 24-25, when Venus and her lover Mars conjoin to create one of the most romantic getaway weekends of the year. You will also enjoy the entire last week of August—happy episodes are certainly in store for you.
