This month you'll be determined to organize your finances to find ways to make your money grow. You may hear instant news about a career development that will make you excited and bring good money to your bank account, but I am getting ahead of myself, so more about that in a moment.

You will get the ball rolling soon after January begins because on January 9 you will have the Sun, new moon, Pluto, and Mercury in your second house of earned income. All these heavenly bodies will be in the wise and conservative sign of Capricorn. The Sun and new moon will be at 19 degrees Capricorn.

Generally, you tend to get bored pounding your calculator and dealing financial matters, for you are an intellectual sign that does better with working with concepts and debates. The news may be so good this month, however, that you may suddenly take an interest in managing your money. I say that news will be exciting because Jupiter, now in Virgo, will be in perfect angle to the Sun and new moon.

Jupiter is currently in your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievement and will be sending a direct golden beam to a bevy of planets in your second house of earned income. Prestigious work may now come to you, and it seems you may be given an advance payment to get started. If you are employed by others, the work you do this month could easily net you a raise - management would not want to lose you to a competitor. New moons almost always begin things rather than bring endings, although it is possible you will be paid for something you already completed. Or, it may be this week - the week of January 9 - will bring a negotiation about how much you will be paid to do a pending project if you are self-employed. If you work for others, you will now score a victory that will factor into a VIP's decision this month as to whether to give you a raise. It seems that the answer will be yes - more money seems destined to find its way to you.

This new moon does have a detractor by the name of Uranus, which will be in hard angle to the Sun, new moon, and Pluto. Uranus is in your fifth house of creativity. If you work on creative projects, something may cause you to suddenly go into overruns, and you seem tense - perhaps you offered the client a flat fee and now you will be out of pocket, or else the client won't approve the unexpected expenses. Don't worry too much - this project will bring you acclaim, and your good work will get you more prestigious clients and complex jobs that you would not have been ready to handle just a year or two ago.

If you don't work on creative projects, it may be that one of your offspring may need a check from you, or if the child is little, special lessons or other costly assistance that you will need to pay. If you are trying to conceive, your specialist may tell you that in order to conceive a baby, you or your female partner will need expensive in vitro fertility treatments. This news may come as a shock. Yet, dear Sagittarius, this is why we all work so hard, that when we have a need to pay for something necessary, we can pay for it - it often is the most important money we will ever spend. The fifth also governs fun and leisure, so the unwanted financial news may be as simple as higher-than-anticipated spending on a vacation, for any number of reasons.

I want to say this again: don't worry too much about the extra expense that I see as a possibility. Your career is going sensationally well, and will continue to do so until September. Your reputation will continue to grow, and with it, your income. After September, you will have established yourself on an entirely new level, and you will garner plenty of respect and admiration for having achieved what I see you achieving prior to September.

One of your favorite days of this month for news about money and career success will be January 13, when your victory will bring hefty compensation. This will be a perfect day to make a presentation or enter talks about a new project.

Mercury will be retrograde all month, from January 5 to 25, so you will need to stay buttoned up and careful about anything you agree to contractually. Chances are there are a few clauses that you may not see that will require adjustment or rewording. This is not the month to try to save money on the services of your lawyer. I do not want you to sign a contract under these conditions - wait until February, after the new moon, February 8. When Mercury awakens, he does not bounce out of bed like bread popping out of a toaster. He is slow and groggy and won't return to his former strength - the speed of his orbit that he displayed in November and early December - until February 14-15. I feel signing after the new moon of February 8 next month will be close enough to mid-February to proceed.

In the meantime, do not buy any electronic items, or any kitchen or laundry room appliances. Do not buy a car, no matter how sweet the deal looks to you. Later you will be sorry you bought the car when you did. Mercury rules the moving parts in all machines, and when out of phase, the gears begin to show wear and tear, or if the product is new, defects in manufacturing. Your judgment will be faulty too, and you may not choose the right model, or later regret rushing when a far better model comes out just after you make the purchase and when you are not allowed to return it.

With your judgment off, or because not all facts will be presented to you, I also ask that you not take a new job this month. Or, if you say your judgment is sharp, you may not be told of all the dynamic changes that will be soon taking place in the company, and then when those changes happen, regret taking the job. If you have been out of work, then DO take the job because it is always easier to find a new job once you have one. Don't plan on spending years on the job you take now, however - that's not likely, no matter how rosy the picture looks this month. You will get better offers in March. You can take a job when Mercury is out of phase when the offer comes from someone from your past - in that case, you would not be starting a new venture or relationship, but rather, continuing one you always enjoyed.

This seems not to be a pleasure trip, but rather one that has a goal that centers on saving money or earning a profit, say, from new business you bring in.

If you are involved in a lawsuit or legal maneuver, you may see a final resolve, as the ninth house, where this full moon will light, rules, in addition to foreign people and places, the courts system, both the courts in your own country and abroad. I feel you will find the resolve will be a positive one, but I will mention that Mars will be in wide hard angle to this full moon. (Tight degrees are more important than aspects that are wide in degree, so I am saying here that the situation can be finessed to your satisfaction, but you will have to remain alert.)

Mars is currently touring your twelfth house of secrets, so someone may try a legal ploy that you won't see coming. You will later say that this move of the other party was not entirely unexpected, but rather this person was trying a slight of hand, like something a magician would do, to create an illusion. There will not be much to substantiate the illusion, which will make the whole matter a pathetic move to rattle your nerves. You of all signs can and will outsmart this dubious person, so stay confident. You will see straight through to the truth.

If your birthday falls on November 24, plus or minus five days, you will be affected by the full moon the most, and benefit most from it. If you have Sagittarius rising at 3 degrees, or the natal moon or other natal planet in Sagittarius, Leo, Aries, Aquarius, Libra, or Gemini at 3 degrees, plus or minus five degrees, you, too, will benefit from this full moon in a noticeable way. Every Sagittarian will feel some good news, so be excited about January 23.

With Mars in your behind-the-scenes twelfth house from January 3 to March 5, you will be in a planning mode. Your time to burst out of the back room where you will be working and concentrating into the spotlight will be March, when Mars will enter Sagittarius for the first time in two years. This will be an important moment, for Mars will give you courage, drive, and control over events. Mars usually stays in a sign for six weeks, but because Mars will retrograde back and forth, Mars will stay in Sagittarius until September 27! Wow!
