A Note from Susan Miller

October 2018

Dear Reader,

I am excited to tell you about my two appearances, first in October at the New Life Expo on Saturday, October 27, in New York City, and then in Carlsbad, California where I am doing a full weekend of yoga and astrology from November 2-4, 2018. In both cases, I will tell you all about the Year Ahead 2019. All the details about my two appearances are on my website. Check my homepage of AstrologyZone.com. Here is the short version of what I will do, and I hope you can come!

Your Horoscope by Susan Miller

You need to work hard and concentrate on your work, for October will be one of your most productive career months of the year. Starting June 26, and continuing through July and August, Mars was retrograde, and that created an agonizingly slow environment for growth and progress. Things were not clicking into place at their normal pace. Throughout this period, you were advised (by me) not to sign papers or give a verbal agreement to any new venture. Now, with both Mercury and Mars moving direct, the doors will open for you, and the pace will pick up. As you will see, we all are still in somewhat of a holding pattern, but having Mars strong again is a big plus.

Mars turned direct on August 27, but like all planets, little Mars needed time to wake up and ramp up to full power. He needed food, coffee, and some turn-around time. How do we know when Mars is strong again? Astrologers can see how fast a planet is orbiting mathematically in an ephemeris, a table that tracks the movement of every planet. An ephemeris is published by various organizations, including NASA. (NASA does not track planets for astrological purposes but to know their precise position in space.) We know that when Mars finally reaches the same degree he had occupied when he first went retrograde on June 26, he will reach full energy. So the answer is, Mars will be back to full energy on October 8.

Mars is now circulating in your tenth house of honors, awards, and achievements for the first time in two years. This is the very best house to host Mars if you want to move forward. Mars has been in this part of your chart for several months, since May 15, but for so long during that period he was in weak retrograde condition. Alas, Mars was not very helpful to your professional advancement.

Now that you have reached October, and Mars reaches full power on October 8, you will see how much more effective Mars in Aquarius can be for you. You will have him all to yourself in your career house until November 16, so assuming you want to move ahead, score some victories, and garner the attention of influential higher-ups, you need to make tracks and move aggressively. After this, Mars will not be back to this part of your chart until March 30 to May 13, 2020.

October 8 is important for another reason. It is the date of the new moon in Libra, 16 degrees, and that new moon will energize your sixth house of work assignments. New projects will come up during the ten days after the new moon of October 8 arrives, and the work you will be doing seems special and different in some way from projects you’ve done in the past. Your new assignments can now lead you to exceptional praise or publicity. If you work for others, you will soon be able to prove that you are ready for more complex jobs, and more responsibility, too.

You will also be able to buy, or be given, new computer equipment and software and to hire more staff this month. After October 8, you will have the ability to find the perfect candidates to hire, which is not always the case! Be glad!

By February 2019, when your tenth house of prestigious career developments will be lit up, you may be given a new title. Indeed, you will convince VIPs that you should be on their short list of stars in the making. If you are self-employed, you will have successes to talk about in the media, and you will be giving yourself a promotion of sorts. A new moon in Libra suggests you may be collaborating with another individual one-on-one, and together create knockout work that makes others sit up and take notice.

If you are self-employed, you will be able to show prestigious clients the work you did for the project you will have this month and as a result, gain more new business. View this month as a turning-point month toward bigger and better things.

Venus retrograde is asking you to look back and examine past missteps. Experts say if you can double your mistakes, you can double your successes, for taking risks and learning from your mistakes is a surefire formula for victory. Wisdom is never gained freely in life—you have to earn it.

This is not to say things will always come easily. This same new moon, October 8 and the ten days that follow, will find Pluto in sharp angle to that new moon, indicating you may have a demanding, bossy client who will be on the phone with you all the time. The answer to this quagmire that Pluto is creating—making you want to pull your hair out with this bossy person—will be in the attitude of Venus, the planet that rules your sign, and also rules Libra, the place of the new moon.

Venus will be square (a hard angle) to Mars, but that’s a sexy, sweet vibration, and I don’t worry about that one bit. More importantly, Venus will be in perfect 120 degrees of harmony with Neptune, planet of inspiration. You can reach new heights of professional stature through your ideas and creative approach to the project and also to any obstacle you might encounter, so keep pressing forward and don’t let anyone make you lose faith in your ability to take a rabbit out of a hat when necessary.

Two days to keep your head down and out of the line of fire will be October 10, when communication-oriented Mercury will receive an opposition from surprise-a-minute Uranus, and October 23, when the Sun and Uranus will be at odds. This might be a tense day, and certainly is not the day to make any pact or deal with another party. If you do, the deal won’t likely last very long. Sign nothing on these two days, and have no important interviews. To be safe, leave a space of a few days between these days and the days you decide to act.

This month and next will be complicated by Venus retrograde, October 5 to November 16. Venus is the planet of good looks, and Venus is also associated with money. Because Venus is your guardian planet and rules over you, you always have to pay special attention to Venus’ condition.

Here is what not to do when Venus is retrograde: do not have expensive, experimental dermatological treatments; do not order a Botox or a face lift; avoid cosmetic dental work or radical changes to your hair color or cut, as some examples. Stick to what you look like now, and later, in the last month of the year, December, you will be free to make changes. Venus is currently not in your sign, which says to me that even without Venus retrograde (however, Venus is retrograde), you would still not get as special a result as you would have hoped to see. Wait. You will be glad you did.

Here is a little story I would like to share with you. I have two different friends who did not follow my advice not to take action on new and untried treatments on their faces during Venus retrograde. Neither friend knew the other, and they don’t even live in the same city. Both had different untried, experimental treatments at the dermatologist’s office. Despite my pleading to wait, both went ahead with a new experimental procedure. Both were left unhappy with scars that did not heal on their faces, and now years later, they still have them. Venus goes retrograde approximately every 18 months, but only for 40 days, a small time to wait for better days. I had no idea Venus retrograde could cause such havoc, as was the result for my two friends.

Venus retrograde will be a time to take a closer look at your relationship and decide how you feel about it. Would you like to grow it, or have you been unhappy for some time and would like to leave? Venus will retrograde in Scorpio, your opposite sign, indicating an important partner in your life will be your focus, whether that would be your mate, steady date, business partner, or collaborator. It may be someone you represent, or that represents you, such as a publicist or agent. Money will somehow enter the equation too, as you think of your relationship. Do you feel you give more, or not enough? Do you feel the cost of your relationship is too high in some way, or just right? Venus retrograde will give you the key, and you will have six weeks to think about your answer.

It is a good time to assess where a current relationship is leading, but not the time to start a new relationship, because emotions may become too cool or distant in time if started with Venus retrograde. Don’t be frustrated at this news. You will be in perfect shape for holiday parties, so if you are single, you can take a rest from dating, knowing better days are coming.

The new moon in your sixth house, as you will have on October 8, will be ideal for attending to health matters. You may want to start a new fitness program or take up a new sport. Mars, the energy planet, will be in ideal angle to the new moon, giving you energy and enthusiasm to spare, so use it! Decide how you can become more active on a daily basis, and if you belong to a gym, you may want to treat yourself to a package of training sessions.

After October 8 will be the best time of the year to go to the doctor and dentist for your annual checkup. This month, do all the screenings you know you are supposed to do but have not gotten around to doing. One hour at the doctor’s office can change your life—and add years to your life as well.

The full moon of October 24 will bring in a volatile episode, for Uranus will conjunct the full moon at one degree Taurus and oppose the Sun and Venus, your ruler. This is a touchy time of the month, and you may be approaching the end of your fuse over a certain relationship, in love or business. You will feel impulsive, and if anything has been building up inside you that you haven’t voiced yet, this full moon will bring your feelings to the surface, and you won’t be able to hold them in.

This is not an easy aspect, for Uranus’ influence is completely unpredictable and often shocking, and when Uranus is conjunct a full moon, it has a double effect and will jangle your nerves. Having Uranus oppose the Sun and Venus at the same time produces quite a firecracker effect, and everyone you know (of any sign) will feel this this full moon too, but in different ways.

At the same time of the full moon, you suddenly may have to move (especially if you are living with someone), or alternatively, your partner may be given a great new job that requires you both move to a new city, if he or she is to take advantage of the offer. Something about your living situation is likely to come up and possibly change, because the Sun, under siege here, is Taurus’ natural ruler of your fourth house of home. If you’re not in a relationship, you may feel this in a different way, by perhaps needing to do a sudden repair. Your parents are also ruled by the fourth house of home, so keep your eye on whichever one of them may need your assistance at this time.

Let’s stick with the possibility that you don’t have a partner in love or business, or if you do, all seems fine with your relationship. There is one more way this full moon could affect you, especially if your birthday falls near April 20-22. You may find that competition for a job is unusually fierce and that you will have to be on your toes, presenting the very best, organized picture of your abilities that you can muster. If you are a public figure, someone may criticize you in the press, and this episode may come out of the blue. In that case, have your public relations agent on alert ahead of time, just in case, so you can counter anything said. The seventh house is also the house where we find your competitors. In ancient days, the astrologers called this house the house of open enemies, so this means so you would be able to see them and monitor their antics.

Interestingly, Saturn will be watching all this commotion and possible stress on you (from a relationship in love or business or from a competitor). Saturn will view all this from his lofty position at the top of your chart and will want to help. He will send stabilizing beams at the very same time of the full moon, October 24, and bring a measure of calm. That’s fortunate, for without Saturn’s intervention, the emotions of October 24 could spiral out of control. Saturn, now in Capricorn, will also bring a note of realism, practicality, and objectivity, which, in this situation, may be especially valuable. Saturn will work with you to give you a new perspective on this situation.

The Taurus who will feel this full moon the most will be those born April 20-21, and add four days (April 21-25) and minus one day (April 20). Readers with Taurus rising between zero and five degrees, or have the natal moon in Taurus at the same degrees, will feel it. If you have a natal planet in Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, Cancer, Scorpio, or Pisces at zero to five degrees, you, too, will notice changes around you, but can find a way to make this full moon work for you.

SUMMARY

New work assignments will have you excited, and they will be rolling in quite rapidly after the new moon, October 8. In fact, this month, you will love your new projects, for they will allow you to showcase your talents in a way past assignments didn’t quite allow you to. The new moon of October 8 will be in Libra, the sign of collaboration, so you may be working one-on-one with someone in your department or an expert you hire. A new moon in Libra also may draw on your knowledge of legal matters, even if you are not a lawyer. If you are self-employed, you may decide you need to hire an expert to work closely with you, such as an accountant, lawyer, agent, publicist, or a business or writing partner. Start looking but announce your decision at holiday time, after December 6.

Your ruling planet, Venus, will be a sleeping beauty from October 5 to November 16, so you may find that while Venus retrogrades, your plans won’t click into place easily, and you will need to have patience and proceed slowly. Venus retrograde is asking you to look back and examine past missteps. Experts say if you can double your mistakes, you can double your successes, for taking risks and learning from your mistakes is a surefire formula for victory. Wisdom is never gained freely in life—you have to earn it.

This is not a month to start new ventures, but rather to go back to former clients or vendors and see if you can refresh those relationships. Those clients have supported you through all seasons, and sometimes in the hustle-bustle of life you may have forgotten to go back to those individuals. They are special because they always believed in you and your potential. This is a good time to see them and to say thank you.

The full moon of Wednesday, October 24 in Taurus, will be challenging, and there is no way around this truth. Uranus will conjoin the full moon and oppose the Sun, so you may wonder what you saw in your partner (in love or business) in the first place. This may be a passing feeling of frustration, or a reflection of a deeper dissatisfaction that you have been harboring a long time.

Uranus in this position can leave deep emotional scars from what is said in the heat of the moment. If this relationship is important you, be careful of what you say. Hold back near October 24 so you have time to think through the matter. You might suggest stopping the conversation at the time and coming back to talk with each other later, say on Saturday, October 27, a good day. Once away from the emotion of the full moon, Saturn will coax you to be calmer and more realistic. You may be able find a long-term solution. In the end you will be deciding on the value of the relationship.

For a happy resolve when you talk things out, Monday, October 29 would be even better, if you can wait that long. Jupiter, in your relationship sector, will conjoin Mercury, the planet of commitments and contracts. If you are happy together and want to get engaged, you have your day. It would be impossible to beat the shimmering aspects of this day.

Overall this month, if you are dating, you may vacillate, making one decision, then an opposite decision, and then changing your mind once again. If you are not sure about a relationship (and it might be a love or a business relationship), there is no reason to announce a final decision yet. With Venus retrograde, you might later regret being hasty.

If you are absolutely sure you want to end a romantic relationship under this severe full moon of October 24, and if you are living together, it looks like you will leave immediately and will need to find a new place to live. Stay optimistic, for it seems you can live with a family member or friend in the interim, for either will welcome you with open arms. February would be your best time to find permanent living arrangements, but for now, see if you can find temporary ones at October’s end.
