The Boar, Sow or Pig

* The Sumerian deity Tammuz, as a symbolic figure of Winter killed by Spring, was slain by a boar.

* Any myth that tells of a hero/god being gored in the groin refers to ritual castration.

* The Greek Adonis also was slain by a boar; therefore, the boar was a sacrifice made to Aphrodite, lover of Adonis.

The Book of the Heavenly Cow states that while Ra was ruling the earth, humans began plotting against him. Ra sent Hathor, in the form of the warlike goddess Sekhmet, to destroy them.

Hathor (as Sekhmet) became bloodthirsty and the slaughter was great because she could not be stopped.

As the slaughter continued, Ra saw the chaos down below and decided to stop the blood-thirsty goddess. So he poured huge quantities of blood-coloured beer on the ground to trick Sekhmet.

She drank so much of it—thinking it to be blood—that she became drunk and returned to her former gentle self as Hathor.

Sekhmet also is a solar deity, sometimes called the daughter of the sun god Ra and often associated with the goddesses Hathor and Bast.

In a myth about the end of Ra's rule on the earth, Ra sends Hathor as Sekhmet to destroy mortals who conspired against him.

In the myth, Sekhmet's blood-lust was not quelled at the end of battle and led to her destroying almost all of humanity, so Ra poured out beer dyed with red ochre or hematite so that it resembled blood. Mistaking the beer for blood, she became so drunk that she gave up the slaughter and returned peacefully to Ra.

The same myth was also described in the prognosis texts of the Calendar of Lucky and Unlucky Days of papyrus Cairo 86637, where the actions of Sekhmet, Horus, Ra and Wadjet were connected to the eclipsing binary Algol.

關於Juggernaut，我後來查了一下，"紅坦克"算有點正確的翻譯。字根是印度自"Jagannāth"（宇宙之王，印度神明的一尊） + -naut。Juggernaut有"駭人的毀滅力量"、重型卡車的意思，但最原初是"寺車"（Temple car，有時也被歸為戰車[chariot]）

《虎姑婆》是早期流傳在臺灣等地的民間故事，在臺灣和白賊七、李田螺、賣香屁、好鼻師及水鬼城隍等一樣，家喻戶曉。

類似的故事情節從虎外婆變異為狼外婆的型式流傳於中國各地，早期的學者將它稱為「老虎外婆型」，如前述〈虎媼傳〉 。韓國、日本、越南等地也有類似情節的故事流傳，與歐洲小紅帽的故事相似。是屬於狼與七隻小羊和小紅帽的複合型。此外，類似這樣的以兩個孩子與意圖謀害他們的成人的情節演繹的故事，同樣地在《格林童話》尚有〈韓賽爾與格麗特〉(Hänsel und Gretel；即糖果屋)，在韓國則有〈薔花紅蓮傳〉的民間故事，這類故事的目的可能旨在警示孩子，不要隨便相信說是孩子的親人或藉機想進家門的陌生人，甚至開門讓他進到家裡來。

由《虎媼傳》可知，中國安徽流傳的虎外婆故事，孩子是被挑擔人從樹上救走，而老母虎是被老虎同伴殺死的。

科學家一定只講科學嗎？

據統計，二十世紀諾貝爾獎得主中，有65%是基督徒，21%是猶太教徒，只有10%是無神論或不可知論者。

更有趣的是，在文學獎的得主中，無神論者佔的比例比其他獎項都高。

反觀在物理、化學、生理及醫學等領域，有基督教背景或基督徒身分的獲獎科學家就占了近六成（還不考慮其他宗教）。

而且其實在早期，宗教的角色並不是壓迫科學，反而是指引科學，例如牛頓和波以爾都將自己的研究成果歸功於是上帝想讓人類更加了解這個世界。

此外，在當代的數學及天文學家中，信教的比例也比其他科學領域還要高。

讓人不免猜想，會不會正是因為自然的規律，有時候就像被預先設定好的那樣完美和諧，所以才更相信有神在冥冥之中安排一切呢？
　
當然啦，我們今天絕不是想趁機傳教，而是想討論一下：「科學為什麼重要？」

以及科學為什麼一點也不無聊──因為科學，可以拓展你的想像邊界。

所謂的「科學」，並不是一個解答或一個真理而是能帶你更深入了解這個世界的方法。可當你了解得越多，你就越會發現：原來這個世界還有這麼多「空白」，需要你透過想像力盡情填補。

根據2015年的一項跨國大調查（包含法國、香港、印度、義大利、台灣、土耳其、英國及美國），統計了近一萬名科學家的宗教信仰，發現在印度、義大利、土耳其及台灣，都有超過一半的科學家表示自己有信教──比如台灣就有 54% 的科學家信教（一般民眾平均為44%），比英美這些老牌基督教國家還要高。

而當科學家被問到宗教與科學間，是否存在衝突時，英國約有三成科學家表示，這兩者是互相衝突的──而這比例已經是全球最高的了。在香港、台灣跟印度，有高達三成的科學家表示，科學和宗教可以共存、甚至互相幫助。

會有這種差異，有可能是文化因素影響了人們看待宗教與科學的態度，特別是台灣每個人都能侃侃而談自己的信仰，這就讓社會對宗教有更多的尊重與包容。

台灣所信仰之道教的神界，幾千年前就已經很企業化組織了！

以前以為「玉皇大帝」最大，原來祂算是神界的 CEO，其上還有董事會與董事長；另外，皇天后土的「地后」一直與土地公、土地婆相混淆著，其實管理人界土地的神，地基主相當於每家的戶長、土地公相當於村里長、城隍爺是省市長、而地后則是國土部部長，在行政院院長——玉皇大帝、與總統——太上老君之下！

…弄通了這些神明間的系統關係，下次走讀台灣古蹟中的廟、廟裡的神，就會清楚多了！對於我們平日所拜的神，也可以多一點概念了。

如果缺水，應求那一位神呢？

天壇拜的天公，是玉皇大帝；地壇拜的社稷，是地后；而台灣近日天旱，如果求雨，則需祭拜水神、河伯或龍神，全是三官大帝中之水官大帝 / 大禹的部屬；此外，中國還有別的水神，即北極玄天上帝 / 紫薇大帝，而台灣也有水神—— 媽祖。

論以上這些神明的神格，就如附表台灣道教神明系統圖所示，水官是中國古老的神明，算是董事會的高階顧問，神格高於玉皇大帝、再來玉皇大帝是總經理、之下的地后與北極玄天上帝是地區總經理、而神格位階較低的屬媽祖，算是地方神祉；但就香火而論，在台灣最興盛、且歷久不衰的卻也是媽祖！

毗沙門天王五太子五營元帥等五人隊形。可能跟哪吒的佛教出身毗沙門天王之子有關。毗沙門天生那羅鳩婆(Nalakuvara)，事實上哪吒的梵音即(Nata)。根據佛經紀載，毗沙門天王有五太子：一禪爾只，二獨健，三哪吒物拔羅，四鳩拔羅，五甘露。所以電音三太子也可以看到五人隊形，尪仔頭是以二金二黑一粉為組合(云游天工作室，2010)。

Ogoh-ogoh is a sculpture in Balinese culture that depicts Bhuta Kala. In Balinese Hinduism, Bhuta Kala represents the immeasurable and unstoppable power (Bhu) of the universe and time (Kala).

In the embodiment of the statue in question, Bhuta Kala is depicted as a large and frightening figure, usually in the form of a giant. In addition to giant forms, Ogoh-Ogoh are often depicted in the form of creatures that live in Mayapada, heaven and hell.

In its main function, the Ogoh-Ogoh as a representation of Bhuta Kala, are made before the Nyepi day and are paraded around the villages and towns at dusk at Pangrupukan. The day before Nyepi.

This process symbolizes the human realization of the power of the universe and the all-powerful time. These powers include the power of Bhuana Agung (the universe) and Bhuana Alit (human self).

奈良絵本『酒典童子』によれば、酒典童子は、近江国須川（米原市）の長者の娘・玉姫御前と、伊吹山の伊吹大明神（八岐大蛇）との間に生まれた。伊吹大明神の託宣によって、出産後、玉姫は伊吹山に上り、酒典童子は祖父である須川の長者の子として育てられた。

10歳のとき、酒典童子は高野山と比叡山のどちらかで仏道修行をするよう祖父から勧められ、高野山は遠すぎるという理由で、近くにある比叡山の稚児となった。入山後、彼は三塔一の学僧とたたえられるまでになったが、酒好きであった。これは五戒の一つ飲酒戒に反するため、彼は皆から軽蔑されたが、師僧に強く叱られると酒を断った。

その頃、都が平安京に移り、内裏では祝賀行事として京都の人々による風流踊が催され、諸寺にも風流踊を披露するよう勅命があった。比叡山が都の鬼門に当たるということから、酒典童子の提案で比叡山の僧たちは「鬼踊り」を披露することになった。踊りの際に用いる鬼の面は酒典童子が全て用意した。

内裏での披露が終わると、比叡山の僧たちに酒が振る舞われた。鯨飲した酒典童子は、鬼の面を着けたまま山に帰って寝た。翌朝、目を覚ましてみると鬼の面が外れなくなっていた。その姿を僧たちから恐れられ、最澄によって比叡山を追われた酒典童子は、祖父・須川の長者のもとに帰った。しかし祖父は鬼の姿となった酒典童子を迎え入れず、両親のいる伊吹山に追い払った。

酒典童子は伊吹山に上り、母の導きで山の北西にある岩屋にこもると、神通力を持つ本物の鬼となり、一帯の人々をさらって食べるようになった。これを憂えた最澄の祈祷によって伊吹山から追放されると、日本中の山々をさまよい、最終的に大江山にたどり着いた。

附帶一提，

歐洲的美女與野獸 和 台灣原住民（一說福建）的蛇郎君在開頭的部分幾乎是一樣的。

灰姑娘(AschenPuttel -> Cinderella)與中國的葉限應該都是源自於印度那區塊。這可以
推側不無可能是因為印度與歐洲人屬於印歐民族。

同樣的，從神話來看有：

- 印度的Vishnu與北歐的Varr為同尊神（同源頭）；

- 宙斯（希臘） = 提爾（北歐）= 天父（印度）

- 伊朗的阿胡拉神族、印度的阿修羅、北歐的亞薩神族都屬於同個源頭；

- 新疆的《小狐狸與石榴王》完全就是跟格林童話《靴貓》一樣的故事。當初印歐民族吐
火羅人就是居住在現在新疆等西域地帶的印歐人。

神Ganesha的神話版本之一：因為土星神沒受邀參加所以用眼神把Ganesha的頭給砍下。

- 中東的巴爾神掌管暴風。因為在天上犯錯被趕出來。中間還有打趴大蛇。日本的素盞明
尊惡整姊姊被趕出來，在人界宰了八岐大蛇。

- 聖經與希臘神話都有「離開時千萬不要回頭，不然你的就會（下略）」、其中希臘的是
從冥界回到陽間時發生的，日本的則是在黃泉之國時，男主角被警告「不要偷看」結果還
是偷看了。全都是太太中獎。

- 中國西南區域的雷神（後來的雷公）是有隻手拿著槌子的鳥臉神，北歐雷神手拿槌子，
南美洲則有雷鳥。

有些故事可能在人類還在東非尚未遷徙前就出現了，或是在某個地理位置的分歧點時出現

是在於神要有人信才會有力量。這梗後來在《諸神真調皮》（希臘諸神在倫敦）與《超世
紀封神榜》都有用到。 我記得裡面有提到一個神在不同地方會有分身（分神），所以最
後才有（防雷）的本尊(?)出現，然後跟在美國那邊的天龍化分身簡直兩極化。

明扎告別阿媽（母親），路途經過熱浪遍地的赤水谷，救活了快要乾枯的老樹根，老樹根為他指了路。明扎一路來到冰封雪谷，隨即受到山邊溪水化成的女子考驗，並為其用神箭封住峽谷的風口。明扎被女子送到了石門山，隨後遇見妖魔的鎮山虎在追逐一隻小羚羊。明扎用神箭困住鎮山虎，救了小羚羊，隨即拾得阿爸遺留的金竹刀。明扎用家鄉泉水喚醒了化成石頭的阿爸，父子相見，明扎歡喜不已，欲相擁卻無法碰觸到對方。原來阿爸已無法恢復人型，告訴明扎斬除妖魔的方法後，隨即升天離去。明扎悲慟，難以言喻。

此時小羚羊不斷用頭輕撞明扎的葫蘆，明扎瞭然，用家鄉泉水解除了魔咒，使小羚羊恢復妙齡少女樣貌。原來她是天神的女兒，被妖魔所害，下咒受困於此。在少女帶領之下，明扎深入洞底找到妖魔。

明扎欲趁妖魔熟睡時奪回火種，在與之周旋時不慎被妖魔抓住。明扎奮不顧身，立即將火種吞下，他的身體迅速燃燒。他忍著劇痛，在化為火球前用神箭消滅了妖魔。而明扎再也不能恢復人型，死前請求少女把他帶到他的阿媽身邊。

火球被少女帶回了哈尼山寨，阿媽見到化為火球的明扎，傷心欲絕。明扎犧牲了自己，也讓人們重獲光明。

- 還有大禹的爸爸，鯀。他從天界偷了神奇黏土（息壤）下來把洪水擋住，結果慘遭天庭追殺而死，黏土則被收回去。

  現實版本是他用堵塞方式來處理洪水，結果失敗被堯給處刑。

其實早在羅馬人北行遭遇日耳曼部族之前，希臘人、羅馬人、日耳曼人（包含北歐人/維京人）都是所謂的「印歐民族」（中的歐系民族），換句話說，他們與印度亞利安部族都屬於同源，所以自然有許多神明是相通的。

像是「天父」（Dyḗus ph₂tḗr）就有希臘版（Zeus Pater，通稱Zeus；宙斯）、羅馬版（Jupiter）、北歐版（Týr）、印度吠陀版（Dyauspitar）等等。我個人的看法是「天父」比較像是個稱號，所以印度人的雨神/雷神/天帝Indora（印陀羅）的特性跟宙斯與Thor（托爾/索爾）很像：都是手持雷霆（或是能夠製造雷霆的工具），並與天氣有關。因此這三尊有可能都是同一尊神，只是因為崇拜他們的人民有無把他們視為（或稱為）天界最高領袖的「天父」。

而Neil Gaiman在片中所說的概念則是「希臘式的翻譯轉化」（Interpretatio graeca；通過希臘〔模式〕的意義之解釋）。

至於「禮拜天」則又是另一個系統了，那是以基督教為主體的名稱：顧名思義，禮拜天就是要上教堂做禮拜的日子。此外，現在的希臘也已不再用神明/天體作為一週每日的名稱了。

問「埃及人拜貓為何又有狗頭的（實際是豺狼）Anubis」有點像是「人類拜上帝為何又有佛陀」…（也就是說把「古埃及人」去多元化成為一個民族）。

關於「天使」，要廣義一點的話，《聖經》裡面其實還是有人樣的天使啦，像是那一位跟雅各摔角的。（雖然也有說法認為那是上帝本人跑來摔角。）

不過日耳曼部族的主神變遷最早是天神Tyr，之後農夫階級興起由雷神Thor接手，最後戰士階級興起由智慧神Odin成為最高位神。

我的德文老師也曾說過，「星期四的Donner（德國Thor）是很古老的神明。」當我問說是Wodan（德國Odin）嗎？他回答說「不是，(你可以說)是Wodan的爸爸。」

喔對，然後不知道為何德文原本的「水曜日」（星期三）在中古世紀時被換成了「一週的中間」（Mittwoch）。老師上課時候是說「以前的德國（日耳曼）人沒有禮拜三的概念。」

為何宙斯跟一堆人都有「(性)關係」？因為宙斯是入殖希臘的印歐民族所帶來的神，這些征服找就在大希臘區境內到處征服，然後被征服者的男性主神就被與宙斯融合，而原本的女性主神就成為了宙斯的「偷腥對象」。至於原住民信仰的主神明們如Hera（天后‧希拉）、Artemis（狩獵與月之女神‧亞底米）、Athena（戰略與智慧之女神‧亞典娜）、Hermes（貿易與旅人之神‧赫米士）分別變（貶）成了「善妒的大神妻子」、女兒、女兒、兒子。

Pandora的「盒子」原本是「立甕」，而不是「壺」，原因是因為大學者Erasmus在寫Pandora的故事時，把「立甕」改寫成了「盒子」。這種擅自的做法導致故事從此變質訛傳的事情也發生在「Lucifer = Devil」（路西法 = 魔鬼）的事情上（這邊則是教會的人胡亂解讀）。

至於Pandora原本的身分是「大地的女神」，pan意思是「泛」、「全」，dora為「給予」、「禮物」，合起來就是All-giving、All-gifting，也就是暗示大地的富饒。

Pandora、大地女神Gaia，以及地母神Demeter三尊則擁有「Anesidora」（送出禮物的人）。不過古希臘因為從母系社會轉為父系社會（與印歐人的入殖有關），所以Pandora被寫成了「All-gifted」的「世上第一位女人」，並用來帶給人世間災禍以「平衡」取得了火的人類。

至於打開立甕之後唯一沒有跑出來的東西Elpis，通常各國語言多翻成「希望」，但意思並不是那麼完全的正面，是一種「在災厄之中地的一絲希望」。（不過Elpis在其他場合的語境上則是跟一般的希望/Hope差不多。）

［按］迪斯奈的大力士… 因為小時候看過希臘神話，所以當年在戲院看了整個「顫慄」，因為把「傳統希臘神話」海格利斯故事線的反派轉為母親，而希臘神話中的(大部分時候的)好好先生哈地斯（Hades）寫得超壞（超世紀封神榜的冥王還沒那麼糟糕）。

至於海格利斯原文Heracles字面意義是「海拉的驕傲」，推測很可能在印歐民族入侵希臘之前的海格利斯是海拉的鬥士（champion），但由於印歐民族的入侵並帶來了他們的天父（Zeus Pater，即「宙斯」），結果就是海拉變成了善妒的配偶神並將海格利斯折磨到死。

The Fon people of Benin believe the rainbow serpent Ayida-Weddo was a servant of Mawu-Lisa and existed before the Earth was made. As Mawu-Lisa created the world, the serpent carried the goddess in its mouth as she shaped the Earth with her creations. As they went across the land, the rainbow serpent's body left behind the canyons, rivers, valleys, and mountains.

The rainbow serpent had a twin personality whose red half was male, and whose blue half was female.

Together, they held up the Earth and the heavens. The female half was said to arc thunderbolts and rainbows across the sky with its body, and lived among the clouds, trees, springs, and rivers.

Asked by Mawu-Lisa to help support the weight of her creations on the Earth, the rainbow serpent's male half coiled its body underneath the world to prevent its collapse. As it writhes from exertion under the world's weight, the serpent causes earthquakes in the land.

When it runs out of the iron that sates its hunger, it is said the serpent will devour its tail, finally causing the heavy Earth to sink into the abyss. In some stories, Ayida-Weddo descends from the heavens with Adanhu and Yewa, the first humans created by Mawu.

 "In the beginning there was a vast serpent, whose body formed seven thousand coils beneath the earth, protecting it from descent into the abysmal sea.

  Then the titanic snake began to move and heave its massive form from the earth to envelop the sky.

  It scattered stars in the firmament and wound its taught flesh down the mountains to create riverbeds.

  It shot thunderbolts to the earth to create the sacred thunderstones.

  From its deepest core it released the sacred waters to fill the earth with life.

  As the first rains fell, a rainbow encompassed the sky and Danbala took her, Ayida Wedo, as his wife.

  The spiritual nectar that they created reproduces through all men and women as milk and semen.

  The serpent and the rainbow taught humankind the link between blood and life, between menstruation and birth, and the ultimate Vodou sacrament of blood sacrifice."

Beginning with Henry Petersen's doctoral dissertation in 1876, which proposed that Thor was the indigenous god of Scandinavian farmers and Odin a later god proper to chieftains and poets, many scholars of Norse mythology in the past viewed Odin as having been imported from elsewhere. The idea was developed by Bernhard Salin on the basis of motifs in the petroglyphs and bracteates, and with reference to the Prologue of the Prose Edda, which presents the Æsir as having migrated into Scandinavia. In the 16th century and by the entire Vasa dynasty, Odin (Swedish: Oden) was officially considered the first king of Sweden by that country's government and historians. This was influenced by an embellished list of rulers invented by Johannes Magnus.

Under the trifunctional hypothesis of Georges Dumézil, Odin is assigned one of the core functions in the Indo-European pantheon as a representative of the first function (sovereignty) corresponding to the Hindu Varuṇa (fury and magic) as opposed to Týr, who corresponds to the Hindu Mitrá (law and justice); while the Vanir represent the third function (fertility).
